The diving industry is still considered to be a young industry and although we have seen companies come and go there are many other companies that have been with us throughout our history. After all this time we would like to say Thank You, to the many customers that have been loyal to us throughout the years and the new customers that we hope will be doing business with us for the next 30 years. We would like to thank our suppliers that have helped us to provide quality products enabling Shark Marine Technologies to grow into the organization it is today. Shark Marine’s mandate remains today the same as it was at inception. “Shark Marine’s mandate is to deliver underwater products and services that are innovative, high quality, dependable and cost effective.” History has proven that Shark Marine has lead the industry in many areas of technological advancements, from the first diver helmet mounted cameras, the first modular ROV systems to todays advanced Issue 3 2014 Diver Navigation Systems and the newest fully autonomous diver vehicle. A special thank you to Gem Systems, customer number 1, you put your trust in us from the start when the business was just one man working out of a garage in Toronto. Thank you to the commercial dive companies, Fisheries and Oceans, NOAA, NAVSEA, the Energy companies, the Educational Institutions, our Law Enforcement customers, and the Navies, Marines, and Airforce customers that we have been privileged to provide our products and services to. Shark Marine Technologies will strive to continue to produce products to meet the needs of today and the future. … Irish Navy Acquires NAVIGATOR The Irish Naval Service has acquired one of Our NAVIGATOR Diver Held Sonar Imaging and Navigation System. The Irish Naval Service is the State’s Principal Seagoing Agency. The Naval Service exercises and upholds the States sovereignty and obligations over Ireland’s maritime jurisdiction which is an area 12 times larger than the island of Continued on Page 2 Page 1 Ireland. The Naval Service Diving Section (NSDS) is the primary State diving team, carrying out varied tasks for a number of State Agencies. increased payload, an external pan/tilt platform and an open frame design to allow more flow to the thrusters and less drag in currents. Members of the NSDS used the NAVIGATOR system whilst training with the Royal Canadian Navy’s fleet diving unit. The divers believe the NAVIGATOR system equipped with forward-looking multi-beam sonar will assist them in their diving operations, in particular in search and recovery operations and underwater security. ... State Oceanic Administration of China Receives Newly Enhanced Sea-Wolf 3 ROV. Sea-Wolf 3 ROV with Hydraulic Mani[ulator Arm Setting this ROV apart from the rest, not including the quality and experience in the underwater industry that Shark Marine has become known for, is the powerful DiveLog software. Field proven for target mapping, route surveys, and target re acquisition on the “Navigator” Diver Held Sonar Imaging and Navigation System, DiveLog is now taking control of the ROVs. DiveLog adds a new level of autonomy for the ROV pilot. New capabilities include: Route Following, Go To, and Station Keeping. DiveLog has also simplified the data inputs from multiple sensors onto one screen, whilst recording all the data into convenient project folders. Shark Marine Technologies Inc., is pleased to announce the recent delivery of the newly enhanced Sea-Wolf 3 ROV system to The State Oceanic Administration of China. The SOA will use the Sea-Wolf 3 to perform marine scientific surveys and research activities. The SOA is responsible for overseeing marine construction projects, submarine engineering projects and routine coastal surveillance. The Sea-Wolf 3 system is loaded with extras and software capabilities just recently introduced into the light work / inspection class of ROVs. The system was designed for increased modularity and ease of maintenance and configurations. The Sea-Wolf 3 has an New Products D.A.S. Boat and S.A.M. Software Shark Marine Technologies Inc. is proud to introduce its newest system for autonomous bathymetric surveying: The DiveLog Automated Survey Boat or D.A.S. Boat. As its name suggests, D.A.S. Boat is controlled by Shark Marine’s field proven DiveLog software. Originally designed to create an intuitive interface for Shark Marine’s Navigator product line, DiveLog is now being used for ROV Control, Diver Delivery System Control, Survey, and Search and Recovery Computer Topsides, as well as Autonomous Surface Vessel Control. DiveLog manages multiple positioning systems, route creation and following, and control of many different sensor types such as Side Scan, Multi Beam Profiling, Echo Sounders, Scanning Sonars, Magnetometers, Gradiometers and Cameras, and provides data collection and coverage mapping. D.A.S. Boat Shark Marine’s New ROV Control Topside with DiveLog Software ... D.A.S. Boat can be operated manually using a hand controller, or be programmed to precisely follow routes created in DiveLog. While in Autonomous mode, DiveLog sends control information from a shore station using a radio modem. A small computer can also be installed in the D.A.S. Boat for operation without a shore station. Positioning Continued on Page 3 Page 2 and hydrographic data are sent from the D.A.S. Boat back to shore so its progress can be monitored. Control can be reset back to manual mode at any time, if required. Data collected by D.A.S. Boat can be viewed in DiveLog and exported for processing in programs such as Hypack, Caris, and Fledermaus, or for use in Shark Marine’s Sediment Accumulation Monitor (S.A.M.) Software. S.A.M. was designed to track sediment build up over time. By importing depth readings created in DiveLog, SAM creates a readable, but detailed, grid of average, minimum, and maximum sediment depths, filtering out incorrect or noisy sonar readings. User settable alarms allow users to be alerted to problematic sediment buildup, or rate of buildup, quickly and without time-consuming user evaluation. Single-click graphing of buildup over time allow quick presentation and evaluation of data. SAM allows operators to graph and compare historical data over past months or even years. New Product Line Announcement AURORA LED Video Lights robust, economical, and modern. Built as a drop in replacement for existing quartz halogen lights, the Aurora 3 can operate on 120/240 VAC or 0-300VDC and is fully dimmable. The Aurora 3 provides 1850 lumens of white (5000°K) light in a 100° even flood pattern. Shark Marine Technologies Inc., is proud to announce their new line of LED lights designed specifically for Video. The Aurora line is made up of three separate models: the Aurora 1 a small 12VDC flood light, the Aurora 3 a universal replacement for existing quartz halogen systems, and the compact Aurora 4 flood light. AURORA 3 Smaller and more streamlined than the Aurora 3, the Aurora 4 can easily be mounted on ROVs, Drop Cages, Dive Helmets / Masks, and Pistol Grips. The Aurora 4 offers the same dimmable 1850 lumen flood pattern as the Aurora 3 model but in a more compact unit operating at 48 VDC. AURORA 1 The Aurora 1 light’s small size and power requirements make it well suited for lighting on small ROVs, Diver Delivery Systems and DiverHeld applications. The Aurora 1 provides even white light. Screenshots of S.A.M.
