tissue and joint mobilization, the therapist is able to aide in the prevention of scar tissue

Applications For The Upcoming Session
Regarding SBC Tennis Program Registration, please also be aware of the following:
-To be guaranteed a spot in an approved class, all participants MUST register officially either online, in person,
by fax, or by mail.
-Although SBC Executive members do have priority, we have to proceed on a 'First-Come/First Serve' basis.
-Past attendance is unfortunately not a guarantee that a spot will be held in a given class.
-Especially In the advanced level sections, class maximums will be enforced to insure a controllable student/
instructor ratio.
-Any pro-rated registration must be made within two weeks of the participant's start date, otherwise a spot
cannot be guaranteed.
Policy For Missed Classes
Unfortunately, due to limited space, make-ups for missed classes are NOT guaranteed in the South Barrington
Club Program. If, after you have registered, you do miss a class, there MAY be an option for you. However,
any makeup possibilities MUST be arranged and approved by the Junior Director or Head Tennis Pro.
In the case of a medical injury, refunds can only be applied for if accompanied by an official doctor's certification. If you have any questions regarding the policies for missed classes - Call Coach Sean @ 847.381.2570
Promotions And Evaluations
All SBC Adult and Junior Players are evaluated regularly, and placed according to level as well as age (where
it is appropriate). As an organization, we pride ourselves on making sure our students are fully prepared when
they move into a more rigorous program. It is important to note that without SBC approval, a participant may
not register for a program that is deemed beyond his/her level.
If necessary, a final level designation will ultimately be decided by the SBC Teaching Staff. Once again, if you
have any questions regarding the policies for missed classes - Call Coach Sean @ 847.381.2570

The ball machine provides a handy method for developing the consistency of your strokes on our indoor
courts. The fee is $10 per hour, plus the court fee.
The junior fee is 1/2 the normal court fee for walk-on use only. All players on a junior walk-on court must
be junior executive members, 18 and under.
Tennis court reservations are non-cancellable. If you cannot use a court that you have reserved, we will
attempt to resell that court for you. If we are not able to resell the court, you will be billed for the applicable court fee.
Associate members can use the indoor tennis courts only three times a season.
A $10 upcharge per person will apply, in addition to the applicable court fee.
An upcharge will be charged to any indoor court player who is not an executive member.

NTRP Rating Guide
The f ollowing rating system is used nationally and by the prof essional staff at
The South Barrington Club to assess a player’s level of play. A rating is
necessary to participate in leagues, drill groups and travel teams. Please
use these guidelines to “self-rate” your tennis ability.
1.0
This player is just starting to play tennis.
1.5
This player has limited experience and is still working primarily on
getting the ball into play.
2.0
This player needs on court experience. This player has obvious stroke
weak nesses but is f amiliar with basic positions for singles and doubles
play.
2.5
This player is learning to judge where the ball is going although court
coverage is weak. This player can sustain a short rally of slow pace
with other players of the same ability.
3.0
This player is f airly consistent when hitting medium paced shots but is
not comf ortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying f or
directional control, depth or power. Most common doubles formation
is one-up, one-back.
3.5
This player has achieved improved stroke dependability with
directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety.
This player exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court
coverage, and is developing team work in doubles.
4.0
This player has dependable strokes, including directional control and
depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus
the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with
some success. This player occasionally forces errors when serving.
Rallies may be lost due to impatience. Doubles teamwork is evident.
4.5
This player has begun to master the use of power and spins and is
beginning to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of
shots and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents.
This player can hit f irst serves with power and accuracy and place the
second serve. This player tends to overhit on diff icult shots.
Aggressive net play is common in doubles.
