A rating is necessary to participate in leagues, drill groups and travel teams. Please use these guidelines to “self-rate” your tennis ability. 1.0 This player is just starting to play tennis. 1.5 This player has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play. 2.0 This player needs on court experience. This player has obvious stroke weak nesses but is f amiliar with basic positions for singles and doubles play. 2.5 This player is learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. This player can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability. 3.0 This player is f airly consistent when hitting medium paced shots but is not comf ortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying f or directional control, depth or power. Most common doubles formation is one-up, one-back. 3.5 This player has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. This player exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, and is developing team work in doubles. 4.0 This player has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. This player occasionally forces errors when serving. Rallies may be lost due to impatience. Doubles teamwork is evident. 4.5 This player has begun to master the use of power and spins and is beginning to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. This player can hit f irst serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve. This player tends to overhit on diff icult shots. Aggressive net play is common in doubles. 39 Outdoor Tennis-Summer 2014 Sun Mon Drills 9:00am12:00pm Tues Wed Thur Drills 9:00am12:00pm Fox Valley C Fox Valley B Match Play Match Play 9:00am Matches 10:30am 9:00am10:00am10:00am10:30am 12:00pm 12:00pm Fox Valley A Fox ValleyD 10:30am10:30am12:00pm 12:00pm Junior Group Lessons 1:00pm6:00pm Junior Group Lessons 1:00pm6:00pm Adult Drill and Play (pre-paid) 6:00-7:00 Optional Play followingDrill 7:00-8:00 USTA Match Play Indoor Courts 7pm-9pm 40 Junior Group Lessons 1:00pm4:30pm Junior Group Lessons 1:00pm6:00pm 7pm-9pm Sat Womens Beginner Lessons 9:00-10:00 Mens Singles $2 Ball Charge 7:30-9:00 Womens 2.5-3.0 Drill Play 10:00-11:30 Mens Doubles $1.50 Ball Charge 10am11:30am Junior Challenge Ladder & Match Play 1:00-3:00 USTA Matches and/or Special Events Special Events begin at 1:00pm Mixed Doubles Adult Drill and Play (pre-paid) 6:00-7:00 Optional Play following Drill 7:00-8:00 USTA Match Play Indoor Courts Fri 2nd Friday of each month $1.50 ball charge USTA Match Play Indoor Courts USTA Match Play Indoor Courts 7pm-9pm 7pm-9pm USTA Matches 3pm-5pm Adult Summer Tennis Groups ADULT TENNIS Adult Tennis Drill Monday, 6:00-7:00pm Pre-paid – see a Pro for details.
