PAC-7 GAME ■ 7 P. Head coach Kevin Henderson called last week’s showing against Dalton the best his defense has played in his three seasons. Maurice Suggs ran an interception back for Timken’s only TD. LBs Ismial Oree and N’Tori Smith flew to the ball. DT Damien Williams got in the backfield. What hurts Timken most is injuries to TE-DE Rakim Reed (foot) and WRDB Chase Polk (shoulder). Henderson said both had MRIs and are doubtful Friday. That puts the pressure on sophomore QB Malek Williams — and the Trojans defense. They have been rocksolid on defense and opportunistic on offense and defense. They’ve mixed the pass with sophomore QB Nick Peyakov and the run via Mark Noble, Cort Logan and Tyler Masters enough to average three TDs a game. That’s enough with Noble, a linebacker, leading the defense with a dozen tackles a game. He’s got a ton of help from DB Kyle Dougherty, who has four huge picks, and Shane Brown, who leads the way with four sacks and forced a key fumble last week.
