Coffee Shop
With the changing of the seasons comes the time for
homemade baked goods, a warm cup of coffee, and some
quality time with friends. The Coffee Shop located on
Main Street in Scobey, Montana has everything from
lattes and iced coffees to smoothies and homemade
baked goods. Each morning, the cozy shop is filled with
the aroma of fresh-brewing coffee and coffee shop music.
Melissa (Mel) Holum is the first generation owner of The
Coffee Shop. As a 1994 graduate of Medicine Lake High
School, Melissa has been a local for quite some time.
The Coffee Shop had its one year anniversary in July of
this year.
Melissa Holum prides herself on offering personalized
service, making sure all customers are pleased with their
brew. The customers are her inspiration for new flavors,
including a hot Snickers® latte or a Reese’s smoothie.
Call in your order on the way to work, and she will have
it ready to go.
Starting in November, Mel will be featuring her SOUPer Fridays, which includes homemade soups with a
breadbowl or breadsticks. The Coffee Shop is famous for

Grandma Pam’s Famous Green Chili Burritos, which are
usually a special over the 4th of July.
A recent addition to The Coffee Shop is free Wi-Fi for
customers, which makes it a perfect spot for parties, study
groups, working lunches and other gatherings. Melissa
uses her Internet connection provided by Nemont and
a wireless router to offer this free service. Customers
can connect any of their Wi-Fi ready devices such as
smartphones, laptops, and tablets, to surf the web or
catch up on the daily headlines.

and baked goods for sure, but the warm smiles
and friendly service are a staple in the daily
routine of the community. The atmosphere
surrounding this quaint shop draws visitors and
residents all year round. Be sure to stop in and
enjoy a refreshing drink and relax on your next
visit to Scobey.

Before You
Dig
Fall is a great time to plant trees and tackle other landscaping
projects. But at least 48 hours before you dig, call 811. Tell the
operator where you’re planning to dig and what type of work
you will be doing, and your affected local utilities companies
will be notified. In a few days, they’ll send a locator to mark the
location of your underground lines, pipes, and cables so you will
know what’s below. Remember, always call 811 before you start
any digging project. Nemont thanks you in advance for your

Nemont Tech Tip
Ever since man started scratching drawings onto cave walls, he
has looked for a more convenient way to take that information
with him. One of the latest incarnations of this is the tablet or
tablet PC.
These portable devices allow us to watch videos or view pictures,
do basic computing tasks, or surf the web on a screen that has a
great size advantage. Most of the hardware specs of the average
tablet are similar in size of RAM and processor power to higher
end smartphones. The display real estate and longer battery life
is what makes the tablet part of our daily lives.
Whether an Apply iPad or one of the many options powered by
Android, today’s tablets pack a lot of computer into a compact
package. Easier to tote around than a laptop and easier to
read than a phone display, and offering Wi-Fi or cellular data
networking, these pint size power houses do an amazing job of
keeping us connected.
Using Nemont’s high-speed broadband connection and a
wireless router, you can connect several devices such as tablets,
smartphones, computers, iPods and more. We suggest at least
a 6 Mb connection when connecting more than one device at a
time especially when streaming video.
Remember that as with most electronics, you get what you pay
for. Stick to known brands and you should never have to chisel
your thoughts into stone. By the way, this article was written on
a tablet!
Have you ‘Herd’?
When you think of cows, you might immediately think of breeds such as Angus
and Jersey but in this case CoW stands for Cell on Wheels. Nemont Wireless uses
CoWs to help improve cell phone coverage and grow network capacity as needed
to support events like the Wolf Point Stampede or as pictured here, the Crow Fair
in Crow Agency.
CoWs are self contained cell phone towers that can be quickly deployed in case
of natural disaster, special events or even during cell tower maintenance to help
improve coverage.
