We will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the beautiful MY “Liburan Paradise”, which will be our luxury home for the next 10 nights. Saturday 3rd December, 2016: Today will consist of settling into our cabins, organising our gear and setting sail for a local reef where we will do a check dive to ensure our equipment and housings are all performing the way they should. We will also have a comprehensive boat briefing and orientation. 2 Halmahera 2016 The MY Liburan Paradise What to expect… In general we will do 3 dives a day and at least 2 -3 night dives, each one of them carefully prepared and checked beforehand, reassuring the right conditions. A typical day on the MY Liburan Paradise offers a simple and relaxing lifestyle on a spacious and luxurious dive vessel while visiting the most interesting and beautiful locations. As a general rule, if your hair is dry it's time to dive and if your hair is wet it's time to eat. The day begins at around 6:30 am, with a light breakfast of cereal and tea/coffee. We gear up for the first dive of the day at about 7:30. After the first dive it's time for a hot breakfast that you choose from a selection of Chinese and Indonesian favourites. The entire day is dedicated to scuba diving unless we are steaming to a new dive site or have a shore expedition planned. There is often a chance to go ashore if the tender boats are available, just ask the crew to take you. Dives on the liveaboard are signalled by a bell, when the bell rings it's time to attend the briefing and begin suiting up for the next dive. Between dives you can enjoy a massage or just relax on the sundecks, the shady rear lounge deck or in the air conditioned salon. Lunch is served at around 13:00 after the second dive. It usually consists of a soup, and a variety of warm dishes, both Chinese and Indonesian. At about 3:00 PM it is time for the third dive of the day, which is followed by an afternoon snack. You can then enjoy a lazy late-afternoon on our sundeck, lounging back and soaking in the wonderful landscape with a cup of coffee or tea and some snacks. 3 South Halmahera Halmahera 2016 Located between the diving meccas of Manado and Raja Ampat, Halmahera has the potential to be yet another amazing Indonesian scuba diving destination. Halmahera's pristine beauty, both above the water and below the water, is truly unrivalled. Its remote location and lack of infrastructure have inhibited the growth of tourism, which works in our favour for truly remote, exclusive liveaboard diving. Topographically and geographically Halmahera is an amazing group of islands with huge biodiversity of fish life and dynamic geology, this also means that dive site types here are very diverse too. Halmahera offers unspoiled and uncrowded dive sites. Add the team from the MY Liburan Paradise and you’ll get dedication, experience and love for the ocean. The coral experts have already recorded 450 species, which is more than half of the corals in the world (56 percent) and 75 percent of all the corals ever recorded in the Coral Triangle! The fish experts have also recorded almost 700 species (686 including two new species), which is 12 percent of the world’s total and 31 percent of the number ever recorded from the Coral Triangle. 4 Prepare for unforgettable dives, from spectacular full-adrenaline dives to long slow relaxed macro spotting dives. + Halmahera The area of Halmahera comprises 399 islands It is scarcely visited by divers, and we have a unique opportunity to see some of these dive sites and areas before the rest of the world! PLUS - The Dream Islands In total there are 76 islands, 19 of which have no name. Almost, every island has its beautiful panorama. The small islands with white sand beaches, beautiful sea gardens and amazing fish life are now being compared to Raja Ampat by some competing for the crown of most bio diverse dive spot on the planet. If that were not enough, the flora and fauna, culture and historical sites from World War II offer something extra! This island cluster lies to the east of Ternate, separated only by a narrow strait. It is a mountainous area, still largely covered with forests. The coastlines are made up of white sand beaches and healthy coral reefs are found in its waters. Offering a beautiful spectacle, Mount Mamuya (930 m) spews burning lava from time to time, adding to the allure of this area. The quality of diving is guaranteed. Indonesia has the best reef diving in the world and operating from a liveaboard will give you the chance to reach unbelievable sites, but it must be understood that being remote means potential risks. The use of a computer, octopus and SMB are mandatory. If you don’t have these, let us know in advance and we will prepare them for you. There is some spare rental gear onboard, however we strongly recommend that you have your gear checked before the trip. Don’t take brand new gear unless you’re absolutely sure it will function adequately. Quest Tours – Forster NSW Australia (Licence number: 2TA 10493) For airfares to and from Indonesia please contact us. We may be flying a different combination of airlines to ensure that our connections all work on all legs of our journey. If you choose to book your own flights, in the event of any schedule changes we will not be responsible for any punitive charges that may be applied by other travel agents or airlines. Garuda has received multiple SkyTrax awards since 2013, including World’s best economy class, World’s best Service, and World’s best Cabin Crew. Garuda was number eight in the world in 2015. Travel Insurance Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our tours. We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance at the same time as paying your deposit. SureSave, our recommended insurance provider, will cover you at the time of taking out your policy and until your tour’s return date. We suggest carefully checking conditions of any other travel insurance you may be considering.
