• (4) 4 ½" squares
From the Lemonade (F) and Royal (S), cut:

Sewing
Sew using a ¼" seam allowance with right sides
together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Press seams

1. Sew one 6 ½" x WOF
Fabric X strip to one side of

make one strip set (Fig. 1).

8. Cut across the two strip sets to make
thirty-two 2 ½" x 8 ½" G/X units
(Fig. 6).
9. Sew one 4 ½" x WOF Fabric X strip
and one 2 ½" x WOF Fabric X strip to
each side of one 2 ½" x WOF Fabric
S strip to make one strip set. Repeat to
make a second strip set.
10. Cut across the two strip sets to
make thirty-two 2 ½" x 8 ½" S/X
units (Fig. 7).
11. Follow Figure 8 to sew together
one P/X unit, G/X unit, S/X unit and
F/X unit to make one 8 ½" Strip One
square. Repeat to make sixteen Strip
One squares total, 8 ½" x 8 ½".
12. Follow Figure 9 to sew together
one R/X unit, G/X unit, S/X unit and
F/X unit to make one 8 ½" Strip Two
square. Repeat to make sixteen Strip

21. Sew together the eight 3 ½" x WOF strips and trim
to make two 3 ½" x 70 ½" strips and two 3 ½" x 64 ½"
strips. Sew one 3 ½" x 64 ½" Fabric X strip to each side
of the quilt top. Sew one 3 ½" x 70 ½" Fabric X strip to
the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press seams toward
strips.
Layering, Quilting and Finishing
22. Cut two 78" x WOF pieces from the backing fabric.
Sew the two 78" x WOF pieces together and trim to
make one 78" x 82" backing piece.
23. Press the quilt top and backing well. Layer backing
(wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side
up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting
and backing when quilting is complete.
Binding
24. Cut the ends of the seven binding strips at a 45°
angle and sew end to end to make one continuous piece
of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong
sides together. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt,
raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back,
and hand stitch in place.
