When Katherine (Kate) Penick (28 and a master’s student)
and Marcus Reading (34 and a director of intellectual property
consulting) got engaged, they knew they wanted a wedding
in the bride’s hometown. While exploring different options,
Kate realized her father’s ranch was the ideal setting
for their day. Together, the couple designed their country
wedding with glamorous old-Hollywood touches like luxe
chandeliers; elegant draping; low, lush floral arrangements;
and a rich color palette of ivory, blush, gold and black. —AB

the centerpieces Gathered arrangements of white and pink ranunculus, hydrangeas,
roses and lilies were accented with elegant candlesticks. the escort cards Handwritten
escort cards attached to antique keys were displayed in an oversize, gilded frame full of moss.
the cake Embellished with pearl piping and white sugar flowers, the couple’s seven-tiered
wedding cake was covered in fabric-like fondant draping and luxe quilting. A canopy and three
chandeliers hung overhead, framing the confection, while white bouquets topped the table.
the cocktail-hour de cor Mismatched furniture, mirrors and pillows decorated the property,
with ethereal draping from tree to tree for an airy touch. the bridal bouquet Kate carried
a lush, textured bunch of green hydrangeas, blush roses and white peonies and ranunculus.
