At the time it was said Vancouver and Victoria wouldn’t amount to much because they were too far from Barkerville. Today, Barkerville remains a town of discovery, a unique streetscape with more than 125 heritage buildings, live theatre and period merchants. There are several great places to eat, gold rush style. As well, you can take a shopping trip back in time at any of the many shops in Barkerville. Old time shows and demonstrations, along with all kinds of tours and walk-in displays and an always surprising array of street entertainment will make Barkerville the absolute highlight of your visit www.visitwells.ca to the Cariboo. We were the first Heritage Site in Canada where you can actually stay overnight at one our three unique B&Bs. Barkerville is open year round to visit. From mid May to the end of September Barkerville is open with full interpretation with lots of fun and activities for the whole family. Barkerville businesses, displays, and interpretation programs will remain open until September 28. Theatre Royal’s 2014 live performances start May 15 and run through September 28.
