Burritoville Continues to Be a Huge Hit! On September 14th FarmHouse Fraternity hosted its annual philanthropy open to the Greek and Ames community. This year we were able to make 850 burritos, serve 650 people, and donate $4100 to the Children’s Cancer Connection! After a few adjustments to the logistics of the event we were able to push more people through the line at a faster rate. While the Philanthropy committee members did a great job in organizing the event, chapter members were punctual on their shifts and made the event run smoothly. My name is Hans Schaeffer and my hometown is Moline, IL. My parents names are Bill and Patty Schaeffer, and I have one sister, Kristen. In high school I was involved in wrestling, football and track. I am currently a freshman at Iowa State majoring Mechanical Engineering.On campus I’m involved in SAE Mini Baja Club. I am enjoying living in the house and my favorite memory of Farmhouse so far was doing serenades. Guys out putting poles up for lawn Men of FarmHouse and the Women of display on groundbreaking day. Kappa Kappa Gamma practicing this year’s Yell Like Hell skit. Homecoming Projects Are Under Way! Lawn display is in full swing and is as large and impressive as ever. We currently have Scott Johnson over 20 telephone poles erected in our front yard, some of them peaking at 20 feet tall, the My name is Scott Johnson and I am a junior in Marketing with a Minor in Agriculture Business. I am from Farragut, Iowa and graduated from Sidney High School. I am the youngest of three boys and my older brothers, Chad and Jeff, are both FarmHouse alumni and they along with my parents, Greg and Teresa, were very influential in my decision to join FH. I am a former recruitment chair and have served on the service and public relations committee while in the house. I am also a very active member of the Student Admissions Representatives, as well as a Hixson Scholar. I believe truly that the house has given more to me than what I could possibly give back, but I will do my best to do so. Olsen, Layton Flynn and Chad Kobal. We are building replicas that will start off new height maximum. This year Lawn Display is being designed and constructed by Jon resembling a New York scene at night and transform into central campus. The final product will include the likenesses of the Empire State Building, the Carnegie Center, Broadway, the Campanile, Curtiss Hall, Beardshear Hall, and Jack Trice Stadium. The final skits will be on display October 21st with showings from 9:00pm to 10:30pm. Our General Co-Chairs this year are Jason Wheat and Nate Witzel. Yell Like Hell is going well. Our young freshmen are enjoying the opportunity to mingle with the freshmen and sophomores of our sorority pairing Kappa Kappa Gamma two hours a night, three nights a week. Yell Like Hell is being led by Josh Hill, Austin Schott, and Brock Johnson as well as Mattea Rainforth, Alumni Rich Rainforth’s daughter. First cuts for Yell Like Hell will be on October 16, if we move on second cuts will be the 19th and finals will be during the pep rally Friday the 21st. There will be a homecoming pep rally featuring Paul Rhoads and the Iowa State football team from 6:30pm to 8:00pm Friday the 21st. Many other teams will be making appearances as well as the Yell Like Hell finals, which are sure to be as entertaining as ever. Other upcoming Homecoming events include a blood drive next week and tournaments the week after including everything from flag football to Mario cart to bowling. Storefront window displays as well as painting Victory Lane displays will be up on Sunday the 16th. Storefront Window will consist of every pairing decorating the store windows on Welch Avenue. Victory Lane is the center road that leads from Hilton Coliseum to Jack Trice Stadium and will be covered in Homecoming decorations from all the pairings, as well. Any hawks fans Alumni Corner visiting Ames knew immediately where Duane Harris the loyalties of I’m a 1963 initiate of the Iowa State Chapter of FarmHouse. While at Iowa State, I served as Treasurer and President of the House and President of IFC.I graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Administration in 1966 and an M.S. in Economics in 1968. After receiving my Ph.D. in Finance from the Wharton School, I returned to Iowa State as a faculty member in Economics from 1972‐1982. While on the faculty, I served as an advisor to the House. After leaving Iowa State, I spent five years at General Mills in strategic planning and then over 20 years with various Minneapolis firms. Linda and I have been married 46 years and have two daughters, Stephanie Harris and Allison Ingham. Stephanie is a marketing manager for the Supercuts division of Regis Corporation and Allison teaches 5th and 6th grades in the Nevada, Iowa. For the last year I have been working to raise money and complete the construction of the Ronald E. Raikes Technology Center at the House. Ron, or “Raz” as he was known, was the best of what FarmHouse represents. In his memory, we are creating a FarmHouse, and it’s member’s lay! Nearly every passerby gave back a sign of approval. Well, except the hawk fans of coarse! Alumni to be inducted into National 4-H Hall of Fame CHEVY CHASE, Md. – Theodore Hutchcroft, Morrilton, Ark. will be inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame on October 7 for his lifetime achievements and contributions to 4-H. Honored by the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA), he will be one of 15 people inducted during the ceremony held at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD. “NAE4-HA is proud to acknowledge the outstanding 2011 National 4-H Hall of Fame honorees for the passion, dedication, vision, and leadership they’ve shown toward our young people during their many years of service to 4-H,” said Lori Purcell-Bledsoe, President, NAE4-HA. National 4-H Hall of Fame honorees are nominated by their home states, state‐of‐the‐art resource for current National 4-H Council, National Association of Extension 4-H Agents, or 4-H and future men of the Chapter. It has Headquarters based upon their exceptional leaders at the local, state, been a truly rewarding experience to work with so many alumni, men in the House, Mary Claire, board members, and outside contractors and craftsmen who have dedicated their national and international levels. Ted was a 1951 initiate of the Iowa State Chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity. Congratulations on this great achievement! support to making the Center an exceptional facility. I thank them all.
