FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Expressing Motherhood Returns To Hollywood Opening Mother’s Day Weekend!
On May 10th, Expressing Motherhood will open with a special night leading a two weekend run at The
Lillian Theatre in Hollywood, CA. Expressing Motherhood has been running since 2008 and has sold out in
Los Angeles, New York and Boston. This show highlights the poignant, dramatic, inspirational and often times
hilarious moments in motherhood as told by the mothers themselves. Each show hosts a new cast and the current cast opening Mother’s Day Weekend has a few returning performers with new material, including Shannon Noel, Elizabeth Jayne Liu and Beth Littleford.
Expressing Motherhood opens Friday, May 10th at The Lillian Theatre located at 1076 Lillian
Way Los Angeles, CA 90038. The show will run Friday-Sunday May 10th-12th and 17th-18th. Friday and
Saturday showtimes are 8pm and Sunday showtimes are 7pm. Tickets are on sale now through the shows
website at www.ExpressingMotherhood.com. They are $20 online and $30 cash at the door, if seats are available. Opening Night tickets are $25 but include a fantastic goody bag and a free glass of wine. We encourage
patrons to pre-purchase tickets as we have to turn away theatre goers every show!
Opening Night, May 10th, will be an amazing event with goodies given to the audience from Bellies,
Babies & Bosoms, Sara Horne Jewelry, Type A and more! Mother’s Day, May 12th will be catered by Daphne’s California Greek in West Hollywood and will feature our first ever Talk Back, immediately following the
show. Expressing Motherhood will give the audience the opportunity to meet the cast and ask questions!
“Performing in Expressing Motherhood was one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done since having children....
gave me a sense of normalcy.”
–Kendra Pinkleman, Toledo Ohio, Cast Member 2009
“I wound up in a controlled sob midway through...(it had) everything to do with how the disconnect between
what we expected from motherhood and what came to be can sometimes make us do really pathetic things!”
-Madeline Holler, Babble.com
A portion of our proceeds is donated to Family Care International, a non-profit dedicated to helping the maternal health of women world wide. Expressing Motherhood is a show conceived by two moms during their
children’s nap times...and a Mother’s Day in Hollywood couldn’t get any better!
###
About The Show & What People Are Saying
In 2008, two stay-at-home moms conceived the idea for Expressing Motherhood after leaving their full time
jobs outside the home to work full time inside the home. Expressing Motherhood is the hit, on-going stage show
that has been showcasing moms onstage ever since. It was the first stage show of its kind to offer a platform
for moms with no acting, writing or speaking background, the space to just get up and share their experience
regarding motherhood.
With every show comes a new cast which consists of roughly 12 people. The Mother’s Day group has a few
returning performers with brand new stories of motherhood, including Shannon Noel, Stacie Burrows, Elizabeth
Jayne Lu and Beth Littleford. The show regularly sells out in LA and has gone to NYC and Boston where it sold
out all nights as well.
“I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I clapped, I shared grief...Mom’s all too often think they’re alone,
even when we know we’re not.”
-Lesley Adams, Audience 2009
“...the tales they are telling, all are honest. This is what makes Expressing Motherhood one of those theatrical
experiences that seems so sincere that it is not hard to relate to.”
-Shazneen Gandhi, Examiner.com
“I wound up in a controlled sob midway through...(it had) everything to do with how the disconnect between
what we expected from motherhood and what came to be can sometimes make us do really pathetic things.”
-Madeline Holler, Babble.com
“Each night we cheered each other on as we stepped center stage and revealed our most intimate
thoughts and feelings about being a mom.”
-Heather Cabot, NYC 2010 Cast
