History of
Quail Run RV Resort
Quail Run RV Resort was established in 1975 by Mr. Charles Lowell. Mr. Lowell and his
family owned and operated Quail Run for approximately 10 years. It started out as a
small campground with 46 full sites. Mr. Lowell built the reputation over the years as a
KOA campground to where people were lined up waiting to get in the park. They would
stay in an overflow area until a site would become available. In 1985, the campground
was purchased by Mr. Alvin Jorgenson who owned the park for approximately 9 years.
In 1994, Frank & Ellen Gilmore and Clement & Ann Watson purchased the park and own
and operate it to this day. They have completely renovated all sites in the original park
with new water, sewer, and electrical lines which were increased to 50 amps. They have
implemented new cement patios at each site, new paved roads, sidewalks, store and
laundromat. Also, a security gate, free cable TV, free WiFi and county water and sewer.
They have now completed the new super sites, a new clubhouse, a new laundromat
and a new heated swimming pool. Along with these new additions, the store has been
expanded to offer more RV accessories. There is also a mall and cinema just around the
corner on Oakley Boulevard and plans of another mall on State Road 56. Our little town
of Wesley Chapel is growing by leaps and bounds, which puts us in the middle of all the
action, making Quail Run RV Resort a great place to visit. We all want to thank our past
and present guests that have helped us become what we are today.
We look forward to welcoming all the future guests. Drive safe and enjoy your travels
and may God guide your path in wherever it takes you.

There are always wonderful sights to see outside the park. We are centrally located
with Homosassa Springs, a 5 star attraction, just to the north of us. Then to the south
of us, there is Fort DeSoto and it’s beach which was rated America’s #1 beach in 2005;
it still rates 5 stars with all of our guests. Busch Gardens is an easy drive from the RV
Resort then to the east is Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World. The Sponge
Docks at Tarpon Springs are due west on the Gulf coast. You can take a step back in time
with a visit to Heritage Park next to the Botanical Gardens.
Our wildlife right here in the park is always a great source of
entertainment for our guests. From September to May, you
can spot our majestic red headed sandhill cranes. In early
spring you may enjoy the exciting experience of watching www.facebook.com/quailrunrv
their fledglings go from beautiful orange to their soft
gray color. Besides sandhill cranes, there are woodpeckers,
hawks (when the ospreys are busy elsewhere), hummingbirds,
and what is the park without the squirrels?
We cordially invite you to come for a night, a week, a month,
a season, or forever. We would consider it an honor to help
in making wonderful memories for decades and generations
to come.

Quail Run Quilters!
One of the wonderful opportunities at Quail Run RV Resort is being able to participate in the Quail Run
Quilters activity. Ladies meet together every Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon to lovingly make
small quilts for children and infants in preparation for delivery to the Ronald McDonald House in St. Petersburg, the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa, and the Hope Children’s Home in Tampa. Being
able to give the children a little comfort is what it’s all about.
All material is purchased by the ladies involved, and by
generous donations from caring people. This is a heartening and rewarding experience that anyone can be part of!

a resident and business owner, Wesley Chapel was originally part of Hernando
County settled in the mid 1800’s when land was granted to Edward Boyette, Sr.,
his 4 sons and others in the Armed Occupation Act. Wesley Chapel was named
after the church honoring the founder of Methodism, John Wesley. This church
stood across from the present site of Double Branch, named for the twin creeks
which flowed through his property.
Wesley Chapel had its own Post Office from September 1897 until September
1902, until it was combined with Abbott Station, the Zephyrhills Post Office.
Presently, Wesley Chapel has its own Post Office located on Boyette Road. Cash
crop farming, logging, citrus and cattle ranching were the principal activities in
Wesley Chapel from its founding until the advent of the interstate system in the
late 1960’s. Beginning as a rural area, it has blossomed into a suburban area,
escaping from the rapid growth of Tampa Bay.
