The
Craft Family
Georgia Pecan Company is truly a “dream come true”
for the Scott Craft family and they are busy year after year
growing, harvesting, cleaning, cracking, shelling and value
adding their pecans. Whether “home grown” or purchased,
the Crafts work hard for their clientele. The concept of
Georgia Pecan Company was not a planned venture, but “by
the grace of God,” the pieces fell into place at the right time.
“We’re living out our dream but understand this, if it
wasn’t for God, we wouldn’t have any of this. It’s all because
of God’s glory.”
The pecan farming business began three generations
ago. Last fall they
acquired and renovated an eight acre,
fifty-thousand
square foot facility
which houses their
farm stock warehouse,
cleaning
plant and will soon
add a state-of-theart shelling plant.
Their store features Highway Deli
which offers homemade sandwiches,
soups, pecan pies,
cakes and special
order desserts ~ catering is also available.
The Crafts invite you to make
them one of your
stops while traveling through Georgia and come by for a famous “Reuben”
sandwich.
The Pecan Gift Shoppe offers many varieties of pecans
(including pecan trees for sale) as well as jams, jellies, preserves, syrups, cookbooks, honeybutters, pecan oil, homemade fudge and much more.
They buy and sell pecans all year, even in five gallon
buckets! They purchase huge pecan shipments from coast to
coast, grown in the U.S.A., and ship them all over the world.
For those with allergies… “you don’t have to worry about
peanut or other tree nuts because their pecans are processed
in a facility with no other nuts.”

Janice Powell Craft has been playing guitar since the tender
age of seven, and even
began writing her
own music at
age 12.

My involvement in the
music industry gave me access to a
lot of high-profile people.”
Her first CD, Glory Bound, re-
flects her interest in spiritual music.
She calls herself “a gospel
songwriter with a country flair.”

Janice
worked as
a paralegal
and sang
whenever
she could
at
fairs,
rodeos, stadiums, restaurants and other
venues mainly in
California, Oklahoma,
Kansas, Texas, Missouri and Arkansas.
Being involved in the music scene gave Janice the chance to meet many
of her favorites like Merle Haggard, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Alabama. She
lists Joan Baez, Linda Ronstadt, Wayne Watson, Debbie Boone, Michael
McDonald, and John Lee Hooker as her greatest influences.
A visit with John Denver left Janice amazed at his abilities. “He was the
most entertaining, accommodating, warm-hearted musician and storyteller that I’ve ever had the chance to meet.”
Janice’s first professional gig came when she was just 18 years old in California. “It was the summer of 1979. After I heard Linda Ronstadt sing at
The Forum, I knew I wanted to sing professionally. My boss’ cousin signed
me to do a circuit for 12 months in Southern California. I played for the
grand opening of the San Clemente
Inn.”
Janice is extremely proud of
her involvement with
the Life-Aid concert,
which
took
place in Carrolton, Texas
in 1986. She
played alongside Debbie
Boone,
the
daughter of
Pat
Boone,
song writer Chris
Christian,
and Grammy-award
winning singer-song writer
Wayne Watson. The
concert voiced the musicians’
views against abortion.
“It was the turning point of me
wanting to do more of a gospel muing power, “All you have to do is
ask the Lord for healing. It’s a
simple prayer and
sometimes the
simplest ones
are the easiest
to do.”
“My goal
is to bless
people with
my music. I
hope it will
speak to people wherever
they are in life
and whether they
know the Lord or not.

the Life-Aid concert.
