UPCOMING EVENTS
FIGHTING STUDENT HUNGER AT PENN STATE
The chapter is once again going to support the Student Food Pantry at UP. We continue to
accept donations at our Chapter board meetings—we are concentrating on a big collection for
our March Board Meeting!, as the need tends to be greatest near the end of a semester. Lion's
Pantry is a student run organization created to address the issue of student hunger at Penn State.
Their purpose is to help provide sustenance to Penn State's low-income students by providing
goods donated from the community and corporate partners. The need for a university food pantry
has been realized through stories from students, community members, and nation-wide statistics
showing the growth of food insecurity for college-aged adults.
*Please check out the websites, http://www.sustainability.psu.edu/reinvention/lions-pantry to learn
more or make a donation!

2016 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Lancaster County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association awards seven scholarships
each year to graduating high school seniors from Lancaster County who enroll at a Penn State
campus for each fall semester.
The Chapter will grant two $2,000 scholarships to female students and two $2,000 to male
students. The selection of these four scholarships is based strictly on scholarship, activities and
personal qualities. To be eligible, you must be in the top half of your graduating class and have a
minimum 1000 SAT score (the minimum academic requirements). Class ranking and SAT scores
are important criteria. Extracurricular activities and supplemental letters written by the applicants
also are significant evaluation factors.
The Chapter is also granting two $2,000 & one $1,000 scholarships based on financial need.
Students who meet the academic requirements and also have a financial need should submit a
document explaining their need for financial assistance. In addition, the student must submit a
copy of their parents' latest complete Federal Income Tax Return. This information will be held
strictly confidential and will only be seen by the scholarship committee.
Application forms are only available on this website (copy is included on next page of this
newsletter). The applications have portions that must be completed by both the applicant and their
school. It is essential that you provide your class rank, grade point average and SAT scores.
Completed applications must be received no later than Friday, April 15, 2016 and should be
mailed to:
