Two pairs of Legros d'Anisy Paris porcelain plates decorated with classical female portraits, cherubs and other figures, the rims with a band of vines, fruits, gryphons and classical motifs, printed marks, early 19th century, 23 -24 cm [a/f]. *Notes. The transfer printing works owned by Stone, Coquerel and Legros d'Anisy occupy a special place in the history of Continental ceramics in the early 19th century when they took out a patent in 1808/9 for a new process for transfer printing varied designs and engravings onto ceramics, ivory, gold, silver and other materials. 16 . A collection of thirteen Legros D'Anisy Paris porcelain plates comprising a set of five decorated with named views of English country houses including Hatfield, Chiswick, Wansted and Burghley; and eight similar plates decorated with classical scenes or buildings, printed marks, early 19th century, 23/24 cm diameter [a/f] 13. £200-£300. 17 . A Dagoty Paris porcelain cabinet plate finely painted with a scene from the Italian campaign of the Napoleonic Wars commemorating the taking of the bridge over the Marezal at Karako and titled 'Combat De Karako Le 11 Juin 1809', the rim with classical and foliate gilded bands on an ivory ground, the reverse with gilt inscription describing the skirmish, stenciled iron red mark for P.L.Dagoty [in use 1804-1814], 23.5 cm [minor flaking to enamels]. £500-£700. 18 . A large porcelain mounted easel dressing mirror in the Meissen manner of catouche form moulded and applied with acanthus, scrollwork, flowers and foliage, painted with floral bouquets and sprays and a piper in a garden setting, 19th century, 79 cm high, 55 cm wide [a/f]. £300-£500. 21 . A Chinese armorial part dinner service painted in famille rose/verte enamels, iron red and gilt with the arms of Fortescue impaling Dormer with the crest of Fortescue above, all within foliate borders and vignettes of flowers and precious objects, Yongzheng, circa 1723; comprising eighteen dishes from 23 cm - 32 cm diam [significant losses and damage]. *Notes. This service was produced for John Fortescue Acland of Knolls Hill, Stableford Abbots, Essex, later 1st Lord Fortescue of Creden, Co.Waterford, Justice of the Common Pleas in Ireland. Thelma Hulbert was among a group of artists that included Victor Pasmore, William Coldstream, Claude Rogers and Graham Bell and which became the Euston Road School. In the 60's and early 70's she taught at the Central School of Art & Design and took part in numerous exhibitions including solo shows at the Leicester, Redfern and Marjorie Pass Galleries. She died at her home in Dowell Street in Honiton in 1995 which is now The Thelma Hulbert Gallery.
