I would just like to first of all express my sincere appreciation for all of you that attended the Annual Stockholder/Member Appreciation evening this year. It was great to see all of you out and neat to visit with so many of you. Also, I would just like to say what a pleasure to work with great members on the Board of Directors for the past three years. I would like to especially say thank you to Terry Warren, Kevin Bartley, Buz Browning, Woody Gregory, Dan Hollmann, Marshall Morgan, Jan Roden and Toby Tripp for their dedication this year. I want to say a special word to Jan and Woody since we started our term on the Board of Directors together in May of 2006 and will retire from the Board this year. Jan Roden, as you know, is the first female to serve on the Board. She brought a ladies prospective to the Board that was insightful and helpful. She certainly represented the ladies well, and was a tremendous resource to the Board. Woody Gregory has served on the Board four times and with that experience offered significant insight, wisdom and leadership for me personally since he had served as President for the Board Year 1992/93. I would like to thank each of these outstanding individuals for sharing their time and expertise. I thoroughly enjoyed the last three years, and am deeply honored to have served as President of Odessa Country Club. Insurance Services, Inc. Most people hear the words grip pressure and instantly imagine themselves clutching the golf club as if it were the winning lottery ticket. While I do not want you to lose blood flow to your fingers, I do want you to hold the club at about a 6 or 7 on a scale from 1 to 10. I want you to establish control of the club in your hands. Now comes the overlooked aspect of grip pressure: I want you to maintain the grip pressure you start with throughout the entire swing. Sounds easy enough, but I bet it takes you a decent amount of concentration to maintain your grip pressure. I will also bet that once you do maintain a constant grip pressure throughout your swing, your swing will feel more simple and fluid. Controlling your grip pressure is a simple yet often ignored aspect in controlling the golf club. Try to sign your name on a piece of paper while letting your grip pressure on your pen fluctuate. All of a sudden, your signature becomes a tougher and more uncoordinated feeling task. But, keep your pressure constant and you will have more control over the pen, or your golf club. For more information on this tip, visit our website and view the golf tip of the month video. If you need some help with your golf game, one of our PGA Golf Professionals would be happy to assist you. See you on the links, Clay Upcoming Events 2009 Couples Invitational – May 15th-17th HOT SHOTS Carl Beard eagled #4 at the Old Course from 180 yards using a hybrid. A harmonious and wellstructured wine with smooth tannins and persistent fruity hints.
