With the growth in population along with economic, environmental, and social changes
we see on a continuous basis, there are a number of challenges we must face to adapt to
our ever changing world. In recent years, the Town of Langham has replaced hydrants and
made improvements to the water treatment plant, soccer fields, sports grounds, roads,
alleys, community hall, etc. The Town has been working on asset planning by mapping
current water and sewer infrastructure. Planning for a new lagoon, to accommodate the
growth that has taken place as well as future growth, has become a priority.
As 2015 comes to a close, Council will soon begin another year of implementing plans and
constructing a budget. Thank you to all who support and live in our community. We will
continue to work on the maintenance and replacement of infrastructure and embrace
growth within our community.

A sustainable community depends on creating and maintaining economic and environmental health, promoting social equity, and planning implementation. Langham’s population has grown from 1290, in 2011, to 1813 in 2014, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

It has been said that the only constant in our world is change. Most of us resist it because
we are comfortable and secure in our world as we know it. Growth demands a temporary
surrender of security.

Office to renew your license prior to conducting
any business in our Town in the 2016 year.

mind that ONLY business license owners

Snow Removal Reminders
As winter is certain to arrive and
the snow with it, the Public Works
Department would like to ask
residents to keep a few things in
mind:
 Please refrain from piling
snow on our roadways and
parking areas. Piling snow on
our roadways is a risk to motorized vehicles as well as pedestrians.
 Please pull your garbage and
recycle carts back onto your
property as soon as possible
on pick up days. Snow removal becomes nearly impossible
to complete when the carts
are left on the street.
 According to Town Bylaw, no
vehicle shall be parked on the
street without moving for a
period of time in excess of 72
hours.



Boryski's
Please watch for the “Tow
Away Zone” signs. These
orange signs will be on yellow
sandwich boards and placed
on streets that will be
scheduled to have snow
removed from the curb.
Please try not to park your
vehicles on the street after a
heavy snow fall. This will
make clearing streets of snow
a lot easier for the public
works department.
Each property owner is
responsible to clear the snow
from the sidewalks in front of
their property. If you are on a
corner lot, then you must
clear along the side as well.

Community Fowl Supper 2015
This year’s Community Fowl Supper was a tremendous success! This year’s total was 855 meals
served. This does not include the many pre-school children that were in attendance as well. If we
were to have kept track, we may have hit well over 900!
The Fowl Supper is a fabulous event. Not only does it bring in our residents and rural neighbors,
but brings in people from Saskatoon and many of the surrounding area like Asquith, Perdue,
Delisle, Warman, Martensville, Osler and some from Rosthern; the Fowl Supper embodies the
whole community. The local people donate time and food, cooks and cleaners and joins us for
supper! This one event is truly a community celebration.
Thank you to all who donated food, their time to cook and volunteer to set up, work in the kitchen,
carve turkeys, clean up tables and clean up afterward.
Nov. 21, 2015
Special thank you to our Fowl Supper Committee members from the Knox United Church, St.
Mark’s Parish, First Sask Lutheran Church and the Langham Evangelical Bible Church. This group
plan’s, organized callers, shops for groceries, picks up the turkeys, delivers turkeys to the
volunteers who cook the turkeys and takes up the task of filling in by donating items or time where
we are missing. These members are at the hall Saturday to start setting up tables, decorating,
peeling potatoes, peeling and cutting up turnips etc. They are back on Sunday to work the whole
day and into the evening. Remember, these are all volunteers who care about this event. I don’t
know how to express my gratitude to these dedicated individuals for their help and guidance. To
each of you...thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Some fun facts about the Fowl Supper:
 We can seat 300 people at one sitting.
 We purchase 40 turkeys, totalling approximately 730lbs (averaging 18.5lbs per turkey)
 We purchase 100lbs of Turnips to serve—the committee & volunteers peels, cuts and cooks
them all!
 This year the crowd thinned out at around 6:30p, therefore we fed the majority of the 855 people
in 2.25 hours!

Town of Langham Invites You To
A Service of Remembrance
At the Affinity Community Hall
Remembrance Day
November 11th
Service Commences at 10:30
Langham & District Heritage Village and Museum
Museum & Plus 60 News
Coffee is perking at the local Museum every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
morning and there is always an abundant supply of cookies to go along with that.
Also, if you happen to be there when the volunteer coffee maker brings in fresh,
homemade, muffins, cupcakes or biscuits, well consider that an extra perk and just
so you know this happens fairly often! As well birthday people’s sprits are perked up
with the presentation of a birthday card personally signed by all coffee goers. The
coffee hour is open to everyone of all ages and is on from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
Come to think of it coffee, cookies, and cards aren’t the only perks in getting together
socially; it is amazing what you can learn as well. For example did you know that you do not have to put up
with a messy stove top after boiling beets for beet pickles? (They always boil over) News flash is that you
simply cook your beets in the oven, fill your largest roaster with beets, cover with water and bake in the oven
till tender. No messy stove! And did you know that Mr. Clean erasers work great for taking tea stains out of
cups? They absolutely do!
Potluck suppers continue to be an ongoing event on the last Wednesday of the month; these begin at 5 pm
and are open to the community. Volunteer coffee makers and monthly birthday people are acknowledged at
these suppers. Following the meal you will be treated to entertainment in the form of musical items and or
various games organized by the evening hosts. If you haven’t taken in one of these suppers you are most
definitely missing out.
Our annual September Harvest Sale was well received by those who attended and the addition of the soup
lunch was also appreciated.
The Museum is closed for the summer but is available for viewing by appointment, call Doreen 283-4342. The
Museum board thanks Summer Student, Kevin Nyborg for the enthusiasm and dedication to his work that he
displayed while in our employ.
