It's been a busy year at GallopNYC and we have lots of NEWS to share as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary: NEW NEW A NEW – A NEW Event – NEW –Alicia Kershaw, Executive Director ANNUAL REPORT 2015 2 About GallopNYC’s VOLUNTEERS 8th Annual Ride with Pride Horse Show Due to severe thunderstorms, the June Ride with Pride Horse Show’s Central Park venue was closed, but Lynne’s Riding School stepped in and saved the day. They hosted a mini show for about 25 of our riders on June 21st. It was a perfect day for the proud riders and their beaming families. And our generous sponsors and Blue Ribbon Donors raised nearly $60,000 for rider fee subsidies. We Love our Corporate Volunteers! JPMorgan Chase every weekend in the Spring and Fall. Our FABULOUS Volunteers Our success depends on our volunteers. We began with 10 volunteers in 2007 and now have more than 350 active volunteers and more than 1000 volunteers on our roster. Deb Abel has volunteered 508 hours in the last six months and Merryl Scott volunteered 76 hours in the Spring term alone! In 2015, we recorded over 10,500 volunteer hours – 10,588, to be exact – with a value of $280,000 (hours are valued at $26.45 per hour). Pride is a rescue from the Standardbred Anne Marie Sowder Chance Retirement Foundation. Pride is an ex-racehorse, who loves people much more Abigail Corcoran than he did the track, which makes him the perfect therapy horse. He’s a big boy Hendrik Laverge with an even bigger heart. In partnership with Lisa Mashburn, GallopNYC uses horses to help leaders and developing leaders tap into their leadership skills and unspoken communication styles.
