She managed all marketing, public relations, programming, special event and store activities at the Newark Museum and played a major role in promotion of the Times Square Redevelopment Project. Additionally, Mural Arts Project she served as a news writer and producer at WABC-TV’s Eyewitness News, at Fox 5, and as a reporter for the Detroit Free Press, and is a founding member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the world’s largest organization for journalists of color. A CPA with extensive corporate financial experience and the owner of businesses in botanically based health/beauty products, and in designing/importing fine fashion accessories handcrafted in Vietnam, Anh Le Molloy held financial leadership positions at corporations such as Pfizer/Warner Lambert, Resources Global Professionals and at several accounting firms. She also served on the Board of Masterwork Chorus and has provided French and cultural coaching to individuals and corporate groups. Chief Creative Officer and sole proprietor of J. Weber Design, John Corwin Weber has already applied his award-winning creative and graphic design skills on behalf of the Arts Council (the program and poster for Giralda’s 25th Anniversary, and the graphics for Great Conversations invitation & program). Formerly a creative director at Simon & Schuster, John Wiley & Sons, Winmar Enterprises, The BHS Group and Integrated Communication Corp., John brings his innovative and creative talents in tailoring designs, advertising, and marketing which are enormously helpful in promoting the work of the Arts Council. Art Department head, Mira Morrison, with other art teachers at the school, identified several highly talented, dedicated students needing extra support in assembling portfolios of their artwork, thus enhancing the students’ applications for scholarships, art school admissions and/or art careers. With the able oversight of Kadie Dempsey, Director of Local Arts for the Arts Council, two professional artists from the area, Susan Noonan (Morristown) and Rich Bedkowski (Morristown), worked with the students for 12 weeks, assigning “homework” to build each student’s portfolio and providing additional enrichment in the areas of Art History, Life Drawing, Still Life Drawing and Computer Arts. Alumni of the Student/Artist Mentoring Program are proof of its effectiveness. One “graduate” of the program was offered two different scholarships, each in excess of $45,000! Additionally, many of these students have gone on to professional work in the visual arts and/or advanced training at well respected art schools. To Support the Arts Council: HOW TO GET INVOLVED How can you make a difference in the lives of so many? Here are a few suggestions: Annual gifts to the Arts Council provide essential support. Every dollar of your gift supports important programs and services designed for: • schoolchildren to have creative and meaningful learning experiences. • vulnerable children, youth and families to have expressive opportunities for healing and connecting. • artists and arts organizations to be vital contributors to our community’s culture and economy. • adults to stretch their imagination, experience beauty, be entertained and connect with others. Volunteer – share your skills or learn new ones. Work at the Arts Council’s office, on special events, or donate your professional services. Make a charitable or in-kind contribution – Give a gift of cash, stocks, bonds, or securities. Provide postage, printing, paper, design, coupons or other in-kind gifts. All are beneficial to the Arts Council and provide tax benefits to the donor. Match your gift – Does your company or that of your spouse have a gift-matching program? Gifts or volunteer time can be doubled through such a program. All contributions are tax-deductible. For more information call the Arts Council’s Development office at (973) 285-5115, ext. 13. Since its inception 17 years ago, the Arts Council of the Morris Area has been the event’s artistic programmer, selecting and scheduling the rich variety of artistic talent for New Jersey’s biggest alcohol-free New Year’s Eve celebration. There were over 90 events, featuring approximately 300 artists in 25 venues in and around Morristown. Attendees came in from Princeton, Montclair, Philadelphia and even Florida to enjoy the evening’s offerings. Some of this year’s highlights included international music and dance from Spain, Japan, Haiti, Eastern Europe and Africa as well as a rap/reggae band, poetry readings and the basketball magic of the Harlem Wizards. Many of the artists have performed at such venues as The White House, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, or with such top artists as Madonna, Queen Latifah, Ringo Starr, Les Paul, Wyclef Jean, Peter Yarrow, Bucky Pizzarelli, in Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus as well as on Broadway, national TV/radio, in Hollywood films, top jazz and folk festivals, famous clubs, and/or have won international recognition for their work.
