High School Freshmen-Seniors June 20-23, 2012 TVCC Cardette Dance Camp Come dance your heart out at Trinity Valley Community College and experience four days of dancing fun and excitement! Dancers will learn a variety of original choreography and dance styles which include jazz, high energy pom, high kick, hip hop and lyrical. At camp, dancers will have the opportunity to improve their technique, performance, leadership skills, and let their individual talents shine. Dance Camp awards will be given and a final SHOWOFF performance will take place at the close of camp. Come and experience: •Intermediate/Advanced level routines •Innovative choreography •Individual attention to improve your dancing skills •Instruction from talented former Cardettes who work in the dance field •Master Dance Class •Motivating atmosphere •Informative leadership seminars •An opportunity for individual awards Seminar Sneek Peek • Muscle Releasing Techniques Housing will be provided in TVCC dorms, which are chaperoned by TVCC Housing personnel and adult camp staff. Meals will be provided in the TVCC Cafeteria. This camp is designed for individual dancers, however, directors who bring five or more dancers attend FREE! Previously, Markesha was the Assistant Director of the TVCC Cardettes, Cardette Showgirl, Tarleton State University Texan Stars dancer and a University of Texas at Tyler Pom Squad dancer. Her leadership seminars are not to be missed! Amy Green - currently teaches dance at Bryan Adams High School and is the director of the B.A. Belles. She was a former Cardette Showgirl, Freshman Representative and Captain of the TVCC Cardettes as well as a former Texas State University Strutter. Amy’s instruction on technical skills is absolutely wonderful! Laura Duck- currently the director of the Weatherford HS Blue Belles and Tison Middle School All-Stars. Previously, Laura was a TVCC Cardette Showgirl, Freshman Representative and Captain. Laura’s energy and motivation is such a joy for all dancers! Taryn Taylor- currently the Director of the Cleveland High School India- nettes. Previously, Taryn was a Cardette Assistant Director, TVCC Cardette Showgirl, and Cardette Lieutenant. Taryn’s instruction on technical skills is absolutely wonderful! Katherine Crorey- recently graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Dance. Previously Katherine was a Cardette Showgirl, Freshmen Representative and Captain. Nichole Moisan- currently studying mathematics and education at Southern Methodist University as well as dancing with the SMU Pom Squad. Previously Nichole was a Cardette Showgirl, Freshman Representative and Captain. Monyca Warren- currently attending University of North Texas and a member of the UNT dance team. Previously Monyca was a TVCC Cardette Showgirl, and Cardette Lieutenant. Dutchess Garcia – currently dancing for the Texas Legends Basketball Team. Previously, Dutchess was a Cardette Lieutenant and Cardette Showgirl. Dutchess is a graduate from Sam Houston State University as well as an Orange Pride Dance Team member and Texas World Dance Company member. Darla Mansfield- current Director/Choreographer for the TVCC Cardettes. * insructors subject to change Summyr Whaley is the founder and director of 8&a1 Dance Workshop, a one-day dance event for dancers with faculty from L.A., Las Vegas, and New York City! She is a New York Radio City Rockette and was most recently seen on NBC for the 75th Celebration of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer. She can also be seen as a lead dancer and as Miss Utah in the major motion picture Miss Congeniality, starring Sandra Bullock and Michael Cain. Summyr was a dancer on the European tour of Fame the Musical, back up dancer for Greek pop-star Nikos Vertis in Athens, Greece and has appeared in numerous television specials, commercials, and industrials. Other regional credits include Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago, and The Music Man. She is a graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Dance and is a proud alumni member of the jazz program at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. She is a contributing writer for Stage Door Access and is a Starpower Dance Competition regional and national judge.
