Kosmoski Kandy Tour - July 2009
Smits Group / House of Kolor are pleased to announce that we are bringing Jon Kosmoski, founder of HOK out to New
Zealand this July as part of his tour featuring seminars on custom painting and Kandy application.
Jon, from Minneapolis in the US, is one of the forefathers of customizing and custom painting back in the 50’s and had a
vision for a specialized custom paint and after much research, development and tenacity, launched House of Kolor, which he
is still heavily involved with today. Jon’s knowledge of the automotive industry and customizing is unsurpassed, but he also has
the technical and application skills which he will pass on in this visit.
Jon will be in Auckland from 21-26 July where he will be conducting seminars, painting his chosen favourite vehicle and
hosting a special kustom painting evening.
On Wednesday the 22 July there will be a vehicle prepared to primer stage and Jon will apply basecoat and Urethane Kandy
to it. Jon will take the mystery out of Kandy painting before your eyes and there will be plenty of opportunity to watch and ask
questions during the application. This will be limited to pre-qualified painters. On the second day after baking and sanding Jon
will paint door jambs and flo coat the clear.
The 1 day seminar will be held on Friday 24 July and is open to all people who wish to come and see the Kandy painted
vehicle and include the history of HOK, custom painting application, the US scene and the future colour trends and direction of
our industry.
The seminars and the Kandy vehicle application will be carried out at the Smits Group Auto Refinish Training Centre in
Auckland.
This will be an opportunity to learn from one of the original master paint applicators, places are limited, please book early,
