The Lacuna in Parallax VISUAl ArT Friday 12 September Time: 10am to 5pm daily to 25 Saturday October (later on performance evenings) Lucy McKenna’s new body of work will transform The Source Gallery into a temporary environment where diverging theories about existence overlap. Science, folklore, religion and superstitious traditions feed into her work. ‘The Lacuna in Parallax’ investigates the lacuna, or missing information, that may reside in the spaces between these different points of view. This exhibition is influenced partially by research carried out on Thurles town on some of its geographical structures. Meet the Artist: Lucy talks to Secondary School students on Friday 12 September at 12pm and the general public at 7.30pm. Free of charge. The natural likeness of her voice to that of Karen Carpenter is uncanny. Short stories have appeared in various publications such as The Stinging Fly and a radio play called The Pipes was broadcast in 2013. He lives in Dublin where he works in music and arts broadcasting. The Supernatural Brothers IllUSION – Mind Games Saturday Time: 8pm 04 October Price: €12 The Supernatural Brothers are The Mind Guy & Cornelius, they have been ‘brothers’ for 10 years now and have been leaving audiences amazed, open mouthed and screaming for more all over Europe. Their new show Mind Games takes the audience on a tour of a place that lies outside reality and combines mind reading, telekinesis the act of projecting thoughts, with a touch of the paranormal just for fun. On 30th January 1984 it is said that the whole of Ireland grieved the early death of Dubliner legend Luke Kelly. He has left an indelible mark as the greatest folk artist of the 20th Century and his music is widely regarded as one of Ireland's cultural treasures. Dublin singer/songwriter Chris Kavanagh bears a remarkable resemblance to Luke, his singing talents capture the depth and passion of the great man. From the Edge Tuesday to Tuesday 05 to 25 November VISUAl ArT Time: 10am to 5pm daily Price: Free This exhibition explores Frank Rafter’s recent artistic journey from painting, a return to drawing and on into printmaking which is now his main occupation. Much of Frank’s drawing and print work is concerned with the concept of binary opposites such as smoothness/rust; growth/decay; glitz/dereliction (shopping centres) deriving from the idea of edge - a persistent obsession in his thinking. The group has had a very busy and successful year with its productions of ‘The Weir’ by Conor McPherson and ‘A View from the Bridge’ by Arthur Miller. He has not one, but two, RTÉ TV series airing this year. Rediscovering The Irish Kitchen began in June and Donal’s Irish Feast airs this Autumn. If that wasn’t enough Donal is also the lead presenter on Junior Masterchef on BBC 1 and his Grandma’s Boy TV Show debuts worldwide on the Fox International Network. Last year Donal was the first ever Irish chef to tour a live cookery show around Ireland. He enjoyed himself so much he has decided to do it again! Fracture Youth Theatre Every Saturday September - December2014 Time: 3pm to 5pm Fracture Youth Theatre encourages young people to enjoy drama and related activities through participation in theatrical performance, workshops, games and improvisations.
