Theatre Award, well-known actor Myles Breen and Pius McGrath..
The Lacuna in Parallax
VISUAl ArT
Friday 12 September Time: 10am to 5pm daily
to 25 Saturday October (later on performance evenings)
Lucy McKenna’s new body of work will transform The Source Gallery into a
temporary environment where diverging theories about existence overlap. Science,
folklore, religion and superstitious traditions feed into her work. ‘The Lacuna in
Parallax’ investigates the lacuna, or missing information, that may reside in the
spaces between these different points of view. This exhibition is influenced partially
by research carried out on Thurles town on some of its geographical structures.
Meet the Artist: Lucy talks to Secondary School students on Friday 12
September at 12pm and the general public at 7.30pm. Free of charge.

of The Carpenters. The natural likeness of her voice to that of Karen Carpenter is
uncanny. Throughout the show Kim will deliver the songs that made the duo famous,
such as ‘Close To You’, ‘Superstar’, ‘For all we Know’ and ‘Top of The World’. This is
a show not to be missed, especially if you are a true fan of The Carpenters.

Cooke - Colleary

13 September
COMEDy
Time: 8pm
Price: €18/16 conc.
John Colleary and Gary Cooke
stars of Irish Pictorial Weekly,
The Savage Eye and Aprés
Match unite for a unique
performance. Some people
think that Ireland has changed
for the better, not according to
Gary and John, who combine
stand up and sketches to point
out that we are forever stuck
in a wilderness of insanity.
Join the duo as they trawl the
Irish underbelly, revealing a
slew of deluded and dysfunctional headbangers along the
way. Ireland is a mad house,
laden with lunacy that swears
to be sane. A rich tapestry of
confusion, and all laid out on a
platter for the richly funny
comic pairing of John Colleary
and Gary Cooke. There will be
songs too.

This exhibition explores Frank Rafter’s recent artistic journey from painting, a
return to drawing and on into printmaking which is now his main
occupation.
Much of Frank’s drawing and print work is concerned with the concept of
binary opposites such as smoothness/rust; growth/decay; glitz/dereliction
(shopping centres) deriving from the idea of edge - a persistent obsession in
his thinking. The area of artist’s books unite his two great interests - art and
literature.

The Importance of
Being Wilde
ThEATrE
Friday
Time: 8pm
21 November Price: €18/15 conc./12 early bird
By Stephen Burns
A compelling and moving play about the life and
extraordinary career of Oscar Wilde, one of the
most flamboyant and brilliantly original Irishmen
of all time. Author of such classics as ‘The Importance of
Being Earnest’, ‘An Ideal Husband’, ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’
and ‘De Profundis’, Wilde went from being a celebrated
literary icon to being vilified and imprisoned and dying a
broken man in exile. Featuring Stephen Burns and Matt
Murphy, this play takes audiences through the scintillating
peaks and appalling lows of this
unique life, and features extracts
from some of his most
celebrated works.
