Dear Club Members:
February 2014
Tuesdays meeting went well and many things were addressed. New prospective member, Bill Anderson came to the
meeting along with Jim Walker. A young volunteer for the swap
meet, Ethan and his father were also in attendance, Ethan is
also a prospective member and hopefully the first new young
member of our new youth group, headed by Jeremy Byrd.
Blessings,
Jerry
PS:
There are always going to be problems when taking on an event
like the Swap Meet. Suggestions are always welcome and
should be addressed. However, I was extremely proud and very
satisfied with the way most things were handled by everyone that
had a job to do and did it to the best of their ability or know
how. I think that in spite of the weather, it was all in all a great
success.
Along with everyone heading up their committee's and the
people working with them should be commented for a job well
done. To many names to be singled out for fear of leaving
someone out. Bless all the volunteers and those that recruited
them.
Thanks for all your efforts in making the meet a success.


It was suggested that we have more guest speakers and programs at our
monthly meetings this year! So, I am asking for your ideas?

the materials to put up the railing along the sidewalk be side the clubhouse,
and fence around the AC unit. They are waiting for better weather to

Benevolence Report was given by Derrell Billingsley:
Derrell Billingsley announced the January and February birthdays and anniversaries.
Derrell also read the thank you card from Carol Anne Beasley for the flowers sent by the
club, as well as our Stones River Region cap given for Johnny Beasley at his funeral.

Be sure to keep Johnny Beasley’s family in your prayers.
Remember our members, who have been sick and have had surgery like
Martha Dunlap and Juan Gasser.


Keep our country’s leaders and military personal in your prayers.

at our Winter Banquet at the
Main Street Grill.
We want to honor our Car
Club Member, Johnny
Beasley, who passed away
on February 4th.
Johnny Beasley was a very
active member of our Car Club.
He was faithful in his attendance
at our club meetings, and
activities. Through the years he
has brought many different cars to
our events. He was a great help to
us at our annual Swap Meet at the
Nashville Fairgrounds.
For his faithful service as a
Stones River Region-AACA
member he received the
Don Anderson Service Award.
He was a great supporter of the
Shiner's Children’s Hospital.
We will miss him, and we will
keep Carol Ann and his family
in our prayers.
Several groups come on a Field
Trips to our car club’s garage
and museum.
Ron Merritt serves as tour
guide; and some groups had
their picture made with Johnny
Beasley’s Ford Truck, that was
at the museum.
Johnny Beasley brought this
Studebaker to our June 2010 Car Show
at Cannonsburgh. He also had his red
Hudson and Ford Pick-up on display at
our museum. Sometimes you would see
him and Carol Ann riding around in their
red convertible Cadillac.
Here he is working at our
Swap Meet .

activities at Cannonsburgh for Pioneer Day.
This year we will plan to have some special guest
speakers and interesting programs, during our monthly
meetings. If you have any suggestions for people to
invite to give a presentation during one our club meeting,
please let me, Celia Murrah, know!
In May:
May 15th through the 17th the Blacksmith Group will be
at the Club house.
Also, in May we are planning a tour and luncheon at
Falcon Rest Manson in McMinnville, Tennessee.
Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00 p.m. you are
Invited to a Special Presentation
at Stones River Car Club Clubhouse
by club member: Tom Murrah on his Hobby
of Restoring Taylor—Tot Strollers.
Tom will tell some History about the company with a
stroller he restored, pictures and stories from family
members who had one of these strollers.
TAYLOR-TOT
Stroller-Walker
For some of us, these were our first set of “Wheels’.
During the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s, the Taylor-Tot stroller was the ‘class of the industry’.
More of these strollers were built than any other brand.
The stroller on display was made in 1949, but was perfectly typical of those made in
the 50’s and 60’s.
Something New this Year:
We are glad Ethan and his father
joined us at our February club
meeting. Ethan (who was one of the
volunteers from Central Magnet
School came, and helped us at our
Swap Meet). He is also a
prospective member and hopefully the first new young member of our new youth group, headed by
Jeremy Byrd.
We appreciate Jeremy for leading this new youth group! Youth are our future!
During our Executive Board meeting it was discussed about how our car club could become more
involved in the community. We want to let people in Murfreesboro and the area know we are here!
We want to make a positive impact for our area.
Let’s Make 2014 a Great Year for Going Places, and Doing Things for our
Community!
