Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher Interviews were held on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon/
evening. It was wonderful to see so many parents take the opportunity to meet
with their child’s teacher and discuss their first semester’s progress and
achievements.
Cross Country
Congratulations and well done to all the students who participated in the
Regional Cross Country today. You should be extremely proud of your
achievements in making it to this level.
End of Term 2
Schools are extremely busy places and we see ourselves at the end of term 2
already. It has been an incredibly busy but extremely productive term. The
term has consisted of many events: Education Week, Grandparents’ Morning,
Mother’s Day Breakfast and Stall, Interschool Sport, Aerobics, Cross Country,
Swimming P-4, Aerobics, Kinder Visits, Wellbeing Week, Grade 5/6 Market
Day, as well as many Excursions and Incursions.
The children have really enjoyed the topics they have been learning about in
the classroom and the work they have produced has been of a very high
standard.
We concluded Term 2 with our Cancer Council Cup Cake fundraiser and Crazy
Hair Day. A big thank you to PPA and the SRC for organising and running this
event for a very worthy cause.
Next term we look forward to Grade 3/4 and 5/6 Camps, Snow Sports Camp,
PPA Social night, Japanese Day and the whole school will be participating in
our Olympic theme.
Friday Assembly
We will aim to have an Assembly tomorrow morning, instead of the afternoon,
to hand out ‘Star of the Week’ Awards. Hopefully, it will not be raining.

AND NOW A WORD FROM MRS RICHARDS ……..
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
PREP
First of all, congratulations to all the Preps for
completing half their first year of school! We are so
proud of how far you have come.
The last couple of weeks we have been learning
about ‘Needs and Wants’. We made cute little peg
people to take care of and tomorrow we are making
them a home.
Don’t forget to bring in a shoebox if you haven’t
already as we are still a bit short.
We loved Crazy Hair Day this week! Everyone
looked so great with all their fancy hairdos!
We hope you all have a safe and relaxing holiday.
See you next term!
GRADE 1
We have had a fantastic term in Grade 1! We have
enjoyed looking at the ‘Weather in Our World’ and
cannot believe how lucky we have been with the
crazy weather we have hit by throughout the term.
This week we finished our Maths focus of Addition
strategies! The children have amazed us with their
growing ability to quickly recall basic addition facts
and we have encouraged them all to keep practising
these skills during the break.
It was lovely to have a chance to chat with you all
about your child progress. If you have any follow up
questions or concerns please do not hesitate to
email us.
This Friday we will be having an early finish,
and children will be dismissed at 2:30pm.
Mel Johnson will be taking the leap and shaving her
head this Friday to help raise money the National
Breast Cancer Foundation! We wish her the best of
luck for Friday and are happy to say she has stocked
up on plenty of warm beanies to get her through the
Melbourne Winter!
We hope you all have a safe and happy break and
are looking forward to another busy term!
GRADE 2
A very big thank you to all who have helped in the
classroom this term! If you are available for Literacy
Groups in Term 3, we would love to hear from you.
Rosters will be finalised and sent home in the first
week of term.
Thank you also to parents for attending Parent/
Teacher meetings this week. It was great to have the
opportunity to touch base and discuss students’
achievements and learning goals for next semester.
Grade 2 …. Cont’d
We are encouraging all students to have a
well-deserved rest over the holidays! Keep up the
home reading – remember you can record any texts
read in your child’s reader cover, not just books
from school.
Happy holidays and we look forward to a fun
Term 3!
GRADE 3
Congratulations to all the students on a great term.
We’re looking forward to a fun filled Term 3 starting
with Camp in Week 2, commencing an exciting
Inquiry topic; Living and Non-Living Things and
enjoying all things Olympics!
We hope you all enjoy the break!
Congratulations to the recipients of AR
Certificates this week: Olivia F, Oliver D, Jack O,
Isabella D, Tiani W, Reyner B, Ronan M, Will F,
Maia H, Shrish K, Oscar K, Will F, Alyssa W,
Sarah A, Neve K, Eden B, Alice F and Harvey M.
GRADE 4
Our students enjoyed a Basketball Clinic this
morning during their P.E. sessions with
Mr Anderson. This was a fun way to end the term.
A reminder that our Camp is during Week 2 of next
term. We have sent home another copy of the camp
clothing list so that families can take advantage of
holiday sales if needed. All children will require a
water-proof coat. As our camp is in Winter, we will
be participating in as many events as possible even
if raining.
As we wrap up our second term, we would like wish
our students a very safe and relaxing holiday.
Congratulations to the recipients of
AR Certificates this week: Noah G, Lucy W,
Ava P, Grace S, Rebecca W and Matthew B.
GRADE 5/6
The students have completed a wonderful first
semester in 2016. Term 2 was full of many exciting
activities none more than our Market Day. The
students have had enormous success and have
raised over $1500 split evenly into 6 charities chosen
by each of the Grade 5/6 and Grade 5 classes. The
teachers couldn't be more proud of the application
and creativity shown towards this project.
We have 3 teams competing in Interschool Sport
Finals tomorrow. The Tee Ball A and B teams play
each other on our oval which will be a hotly
contested game. Our other finalist is Ms Coe's
infamous Volleystars team who play off against St
Brigids in the gym. Good luck to all the students
involved.
Well done to all the students who competed in the
Regional Cross Country and battled the challenging
winds.
The Grade 5/6 team wishes all students a well
earned break and look forward to seeing them back
fresh and ready for another busy term.
