I have ADHD !"#4,(%&#-./#5+,#12(3*# so let me tell you why it’s good. Before starting, you should know that ADHD is the most common behavioral disorder that begins in childhood. However, it does not only effect children. People of all ages have ADHD. Now lets start reasoning. The first reason ADHD is a good thing is because it has a never ending optimism. Why is that good? Because you always ignore failure. You also are not worried or stressed. Secondly, ADHD is great because you get hyper energy. I’ve learned from www.aditude.com that I can forget to be tired. Sometimes my energy is for hyper focus. I can also work for billions of hours. The last and surely the best reason ADHD is awesome is because you’re silly and childish. I had trouble with this topic so I went on www.addcenters.com and this is what I came up with. Being silly and childish involves having fun and making jokes. I also wanted to say that being silly and childish lets you enjoy life more. Now you know why. Mt. Vesuvius ! )"#4672#-*82*+#9*(2:*2;# Mt. Vesuvius was once a peaceful mountain towering over a small town called Pompeii (in Italy). On August 24, 79 AD, it exploded. You had to run or you would turn into a statue! You had a day to run. =>?$%8 AROUND CAMPUS Twin Day !There were so many Sierra P., 3rd grade twins and some triplets on twin day. I have no idea if there were quadruplets. Anyway, on Twin Day some Student Council girls were taking pictures of twins. I saw so many funny and amazing twins wearing stuff like tie-dye, the same jackets, the same hairstyles, and many other crazy things. Wasn’t Twin Day fun? Find the Jellybean Contest By Penelope W., 3rd grade !At lunch on Monday, January 26, 2015 there were jellybean competitions. There were about 5 contests. Each round there were 4-5 contestants. They would try to find the jelly bean without their hands. The contestants would dunk their heads in the plates of whipped cream and covering one hidden jellybean. The first person to find a jellybean would be awarded with another jellybean. Emily C., one of the winners, said “It was really fun and messy!” The jellybean contests were messy fun! Forté !Hey Bubb Cubs! Stop calling this thing a by Emmanuel L., 5th grade mechanical pencil. Four of us 5th graders have made a new word for this amazing writing tool because we believe that it is too awesome to be named after the less cool “pencil.” This new word, Forté, is unique and definitely a lot shorter to write than boring old “mechanical pencil.” If you’re hesitating because it might sound “dorky,” just be aware that people of Room 19 (cool 5th graders) are already using it. We are always open to new ideas for words whose name you want to change. Write a letter and post it in B-Mail addressed to Emmanuel L., Room 19. Michael Katz Performance By Su Min L., 3rd grade !Do you remember Michael Katz’ performance? I do. I was surprised by how quiet it was. I think it was funny how he made different faces and voices. His performance is a great show. He made a random fairy tale into a wonderful performance. He showed he read a lot; and if you read a lot too, you can do it too. I hope you had a good time watching the performance. How kids can make money? Andrea A., 3rd grade !Kids, have you ever wondered how to make money? Well kids today is your lucky day because I can give you some tips. First of all, you can make a lemonade stand. Make sure your lemonade tastes good or nobody will buy some. Second of all, in the winter you can sell hot cocoa and coffee. Probably moms and dads will buy coffee, and the kids will buy the hot cocoa. Yum! Yum! Finally, you can have a yard sale! People will buy what you have! I hope you like my ideas so you kids can make money. =>?$%6 Drought !Do you remember the rainstorm we had on By Su Min L., 3rd grade December 15th? That rainstorm reduced the shortage of rainfall by 20%, but we still don’t have 80% of rain that we need. That means we need that rainstorm four more times! Lots of people had to stop their activities and go back home about a small flood in the hills. I hope winter is not over because we need 80% more rain. Editor’s note: as paper was being prepared for publication, we received another rainstorm! We don’t know yet how much this latest storm will reduce the 80% still needed. Using C02 !Well you might be asking yourself By Eliott L., 3rd grade what is C02? C02 is carbon dioxide (say: di-ox-side) and that’s what comes out when you breath. C02 is created other ways too. Another way C02 is created is by cars. To use electricity you need C02. Then the C02 gets in the air. To make less C02 you should use your car less, turn off the light when you don’t need it, and burn less natural gas. If you do those things, and plant trees, you can help save the world. How not to waste water Bryan L., 4th grade !People should not waste water in any way. One reason you should not waste water is because it is needed for other resources. Such as drinking water and cooking. We also use lots of water for cleaning, and growing plants. A reason we should save water is because California is getting dry. The way to save water is to use what you need, like only a 5 minute shower. While using water, remember not to waste it! Troop 61174 Trying to make a difference !Have you ever wondered what an animal’s life is like? Well, there are lots of pets in the happy By Girl Scout Troop 61174 hands of many people. However, if you look closer, other cute pets are not so lucky. Dogs, cats, rodents, birds, and other animals have to spend many their whole lives with nobody who loves them. Animal shelters may seem like a good place, but an owner is better. For example, a dog’s life in an animal shelter is being cooped up in a small cage, with no comfy bed, limited exercise, and limited opportunities to be with other dogs. It’s like being a kid with no parents. But you can help. Girl Scout Troup 61174 is helping to make a difference by volunteering at an animal shelter. We’re helping by feeding and taking care of pets in need, giving them love. Maybe you can donate money or pet supplies. I’m sure they would like it! Clearly, many animals could use some attention and love. We hope we can help make a difference. Well if you have then I recommend going to nice place called Alexander’s Patisserie in downtown Mountain View. At Alexander’s Patisserie you will find an assortment of tarts and pastries that have all sorts of flavors and textures. This fancy little place is not your everyday kind of patisserie. They serve lemon tarts with silver flakes and make garnished designs made out of whipped cream on coffee. The quality is excellent and the food itself looks scrumptious. It is a bit pricey but I think it’s worth it. The interior of the building is just incredible. The lights look amazing, and the chairs are super comfy. Also the marble tables are nice and smooth which makes a perfect table for a nice dessert. I recommend eating a L’Orange. L’Orange is a chocolate and orange flavored dessert. It has these crunchy chocolate balls on the side that are really good and some sort of tart, even though the macaroons are tasty too. You can’t even put this patissiere down because of it’s bathrooms, they’re clean alright. Alexander’s Patisserie sits about 30-35 people and it’s usually crowded, but cleans out pretty soon. Their service is 5 star, and it’s been like that since their first day, on October 16, 2014. New recipes keep getting created because there are a few glass cases still empty. I guess you will have to go try it out to find out what will be in these empty glass cases, it’s up to you to find out! should try The Lost Hero. In The Lost Hero there was building, breaking, and some magic. Three main characters, Leo, Piper, and Jason, are on a quest to save a goddess who walked right into a trap. They freed the goddess. They also have incredible powers. Jason has the power of lightning, Piper has the power of charm speaking, and Leo has the power of the blacksmith. I recommend this book if you like Greek Mythology. !Have you ever wondered where good pastries are !Do you like Greek Myths? If you do, you Earth to Echo & Big Hero 6 Anonymous !Have you ever seen the movies Earth to Echo or Big Hero 6? They’re both to coolest movies ever! I won’t spoil them too much here in this article since I’m going to talk about them. In Earth to Echo, three friends are in a neighborhood when their phones go crazy. Then they sneak out into the wilderness and find out what’s going on (they’re in Nevada by the way). The rest of the story you have to find out for yourself (I said I wouldn’t spoil it too much, didn’t I?). Now Big Hero 6 – you may know a lot about it already. But it was an awesome movie, huh? I think these two movies are really good. What movies do you like? Amulet Sierra P., 3rd grade !Amulet is a graphic novel series about a girl named Emily who finds a necklace in her great grandfather Silas’s house (with her brother Navin), and becomes a very powerful stonekeeper. She goes on many adventures. There are six books in the series. These are the books in order: The Stonekeeper, The Stonekeeper’s Curse, The Cloud Searchers, The Last Council, Prince of the Elves, and Escape from Lucien. (You don’t have to read them in order.) Also, the next one comes out in early 2016! Kids who love graphic novels might love this series. They are the Bubb Library, but are checked out often. Clearly, Amulet is a fantastic series =>?$%9 ! RIDDLES Why did the football coach go to the bank? (this joke from Owen H., 2nd grade) Because he wanted his quarter back! ! What did the tree wear to the pool party? Swimming trunks! What goes around and around the wood but never goes into the wood? The bark on a tree. You walk across a bridge and you see a boat full of people yet there isn’t a single person on board. How is that possible? All the people on the boat are married ! You have a 5 gallon bucket and a 3 gallon bucket with as much water as you need, but no other measuring devices. Fill the 5 gallon bucket with exactly 4 gallons of water. Fill the 5 gallon bucket all the way up. Pour it into the 3 gallon bucket until it is full. Empty A house has 4 walls. All of the walls are the 3 gallon bucket. Pour the remaining 2 facing south, and a bear is circling the gallons into the 3 gallon bucket. Fill the 5 gallon bucket all the way up. Finish filling house. What color is the bear? The house is on the north pole, so the bear the 3 gallon bucket, there will be 4 gallons left in the 5 gallon bucket. is white. Knock! Knock! Who’s there? BEN HUR Ben Hur who? BEN HUR before? ! Charlie Hebdo !Have you heard of the tragedy at Charlie Hebdo? Emmanuel L., 5th grade If you have, great. If you haven’t, you want to read this article. Charlie Hebdo is a company in France that draws cartoons for newspapers. Some of their cartoons angered terrorists who attacked Charlie Hebdo. As soon as news of the attack got out, people swarmed the streets of Paris carrying signs saying “We are Charlie.” What really amazed me was the fact that it wasn’t only people in France, it was people all over the world! For instance, when I was in San Francisco yesterday I noticed a billboard saying “We are Charlie.” I am impressed by how a single tragedy unites the Earth. !%>F%-I$%'@""A%#EJ$G"C>EJK ,@A%BCD"%E@C%2@FF@E%2@G$H =>?$%; Lego Museum! !On a Sunday afternoon in Lake Tahoe !Lake Tahoe is a Liam H., 4th grade Emily C., 3rd grade January I went with my family and Mr. Franklin to see the Lego display at the Palo Alto Museum of American Heritage. When we got there we stood in a long line around a glassed-in Lego city. One Lego building had collapsed when it was being transported to the museum, and it was displayed that way. It was really fun. Even Kermit the Frog was made out of Lego! I also saw a huge Lego dragon! popular place for Bubb families to visit during school breaks. Lake Tahoe is on the border between California and Nevada. If you go by car it can take about four hours to get there. Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the U.S. and is known for its clear blue water. In the winter you can ski, snowboard, ice skate and sled. There are more than 15 ski resorts around Lake Tahoe. Squaw Valley, Heavenly and Northstar are the biggest resorts. In the summer you can swim in the lake, go river rafting on the Truckee River, hike, and even bike. I hope you have a chance to visit Lake Tahoe soon. Disneyland !Have you been to Disneyland? Well it doesn’t matter, I’m Amanda Z., 3rd grade going to tell you now. When you first go inside you can see wonderful things. There are two different parts of Disneyland. One is Adventure Park, the other I don’t know. My favorite ones in the Adventure Park are Goofy, Grizzly Peak, and Soarin’ over California. Goofy was so funny because there are a lot of turns. Every turn my mom and her friend screamed. I liked Grizzly Peak, because you get really wet. Also, you drop backwards or forward, because the raft is round. In the other park I like Indiana Jones. You should go to Disneyland. Paso Robles Grape Crush Penelope W., 3rd grade !On January 16, 2015 my Spring Select soccer team, the Blue Lightning, went to Paso Robles to play in the Grape Crush tournament. My team has players from Huff, Stevenson, and Bubb. There are three players on my team from Bubb, including me, Susanna (Room 14) and Tiffany (Room 18). We played against tough teams. The farthest team was from Santa Barbara. Tiffany T. said, “We didn’t give up.” We had fun and made friends. We can’t wait to play in more tournaments.
