Hoegaarden is a ‘cloudy’ wheat or ‘White’ beer (witbier). Red Lace Tequila reposado / Monin Maple Spice / Belle-Vue Kriek — Lace production originated from 15th century Belgium. ‘Laces’ are also the foam marking lines on the inside of a beer glass. The cherry fruits give Kriek it’s typical deepred color. Ostend Summer (Mojito) Monin Mojito Mint / Monin Caribbean / Crushed lime / Hoegaarden White — Ostend rose to fame as ‘Queen of coastal resorts’ under King Leopold II. The biggest city on the sandy beaches of the Belgian coast sees tourists increasing its population ten-fold in summer. The curaçao orange peel and coriander used to brew Hoegaarden bring out an exotic spiciness. Sweet Clementine Monin Mandarine / Cranberry juice / Leffe Blonde — The slight bitter orange taste of Leffe Blonde blends perfectly with the Tangerine sweetness. In Belgium, clementines (seedless tangarines) are extremely popular around the Saint-Nicolas fest (not to be confused with Santaclaus), on 6 December. Brussels Manneken (Mojito) Monin Mojito Mint / Crushed lime / Belle-Vue Gueuze — Gueuze is a blend of Lambic - beers brewed using ‘wild’ yeasts - typically found in the West of the Brussels region. ‘Manneken’ is Flemish for a young boy, embodied by the famous Manneken Pis. Black Gold Poire William Eau de Vie / Monin Dark Cacao Liqueur / Monin Caramel / Leffe Dark — Until the 1970’s, coal mining was important in outhern Belgium, also known for its black pear (poire) butter or syrup from the city of Liège. Leffe Brune beer gets its dark color and caramelized flavor from the roasted malt. Belgium’s love for chocolate needs no further explaining.
