HOME | SPECIALS | SERVICE | CONTACT FRANKSTON TOYOTA | BLOG Keeping Your Dog Safe in the Car On Thursday 23 June, 2016 we hosted a fantastic evening here at Frankston Toyota focused on man’s best friend. It was a night full of valuable information for pet owners, so in case you missed it here’s a recap of our Frankston Toyota Canines and Car Safety Session. Katie Hunter and the team from Dogs for Kids with Disabilities are experts on all things to do with dogs – and are especially knowledgeable on keeping canines safe in cars. They educated around 50 members of the local community on the subject, as well as many of our Frankston Toyota staff members who came along to the event. Safety First, for the Love of Dogs As an owner of both a car and a dog (or maybe a couple of each!) it is vital to know how to make sure your beloved pet is travelling safely like the rest of the family. Our Canine Car Safety Session highlighted the importance of harnesses to restrain your pet. These can not only protect dogs and passengers in the event of an accident, but also prevent driver distraction from an excited, scared or startled pet. Do you own a ute? It’s especially important to use a restraint when your dog is riding on the back of your ute – the risks just aren’t worth it. The session also offered some top tips for those furry family members who are a bit timid when it comes to traveling and assistance in finding the most pet friendly places to go on the Peninsula. There was plenty more valuable info and the best part? Getting all up close and personal with the cutest and hardest working puppies on the planet of course!!! make sure your beloved pet is travelling safely like the rest of the family Dogs for Kids with Disabilities Katie is a qualified guide dog trainer and the founder of Dogs for Kids with Disabilities (known locally as DKD). DKD is a not for profit organisation based around the corner in Carrum Downs. The inspiring team at DKD is dedicated to training clever canines to become Assistance and Companion dogs for children and young adults living with challenges like autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy and a variety of physical and intellectual disabilities. Keep up with DKD We are incredibly proud to be sponsors of Dogs for Kids with Disabilities. In fact, we have been since 2012 and support this excellent organisation by sponsoring a dog each year. Our newest sponsored pup is Echo, who is just about to finish up puppy training and move on to Assistance training in August 2016 – and we couldn’t be more proud of her! Check out what DKD is up to via their Facebook page. Keep up the inspiring work DKD!
