ANNUAL CHRISTMAS
OPEN HOUSE
TRIM A TREE
Our Holiday Tree stands tall in the
education area year round with the pictures
of pets. During the year we call it our
animal family tree, however during the
Christmas Season it is all decorated
with Christmas ornaments and any new
photos that we receive. Send a clear
photo of your pet along with a $5.00
donation and we will attach it to an
ornament and hang it on our “Holiday Tree”. These photos will
stay on our tree year-round catching the attention of visitors as
they tour our shelter. Your donation will help to spread holiday
spirit. Send your donation and a non-returnable photo to:
December 11th, 2010
Saturday – mark your calendars!
Christmas is just around the corner and the Humane
Society of Macomb Animal Shelter is getting ready for
their annual Christmas Open house-bake sale and craft sale.
This is a very “Special” time for us at the shelter because
it’s when we open the doors for everyone to visit all the
homeless animals-see the shelter-and help to raise funds for
the coming year.
We need your HELP! Once again we are asking for
the help of crafty and creative people to put their talents
to work making crafts and bakers to help bake for our
bake sale. Crafts can be brought to the shelter anytime
between the hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru
Saturday starting now until Saturday, December 11th.
Some items that people look for are tree ornaments, table
decorations, crocheted mittens and slippers, scarf’s and any
homemade craft good are all welcome. **Saleable items
only, please**. Items that can be reasonably priced. This is
a great place for children to do their Christmas shopping
for their family, friends, teachers etc.
Bake sale goods, such as cookies, pies, rolls, breads,
coffee cakes, jellies, candies, brownies etc. are always
needed to make our sale a success. If you can label your
donated goods (ex: anything that has nuts) would be
appreciated especially for those who have allergies. Baked
goods can be brought to the shelter the day or two before or
the day of the open house.
Santa Claus will be here at NOON to greet all the
children, (both young and old) who have special wishes for
Christmas. Free coffee, donuts holes and popcorn will be
available.
We also have a Christmas Raffle with great prizes.
Drawing will be at 4:00 pm and you do not have to be
present to win. Raffle tickets are available now at the
shelter and clinic. If you would like to sell some tickets for
us to your friends and neighbors please stop by the shelter
to pick them up. Your help is always needed.
Your support as a volunteer is also welcome for that day.
If you can help please call the shelter and leave your name
and phone number if you can help. Call 586-731-9210.
Remember our little creatures who cannot help
themselves. Can you HELP?

WinterizeYour Pet!
Do YOU have an animal that stays outside all year long?
Just a reminder that Michigan Law requires proper shelter
for your pet (s) 24 hour per day from the weather, which
includes sun, heat, rain, snow etc. Our shelter (during the
winter months) gives away a FREE bag of
straw for the outside dog. A bag of straw may
be picked up at our shelter after Nov. 1st. Also
remember that your car’s coolant CAN KILL.
Antifreeze has a pleasant aroma and sweet
taste that is attractive to both children and animals. It’s
HIGHLY TOXIC. Keep your pet and children away. Clean
up even the smallest spills.
Seasonal Reminder:
With the Holidays approaching be
careful of your Christmas Plants, especially
Poinsettia & Mistletoe can be harmful and
deadly to your pet.

to exploit it because it is
