Pearl Izumi Men’s Tour Series
and Matrix Fitness Women’s Grand Prix
Motherwell - Tuesday 26 May
Motherwell has been selected to host Round 5 of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series
2015, bringing Britain’s top professional cycling teams to our town.
The teams race at ten venues over five weeks to be crowned Britain’s top team
and this exciting sprint racing is screened on ITV4 the following evenings.
The event builds on Motherwell’s reputation as a world-class sporting venue, following the
outstanding Triathlon events hosted here as part of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The cyclists will compete over a 1.7km circuit from the start/finish line on Hamilton Road, along
High Road, Farm Street, Ladywell Road and Douglas Street. The women’s race starts at 4.30pm
with the men’s event from 7.00pm. A map of the route is enclosed.
As a result, these roads will be closed during the races with some restrictions throughout the
day as the race circuit is set up. This may have an impact on you so we want to give you as much
notice as possible. We will work with the race organisers to minimise the disruption to residents
and businesses, however we would ask you to be prepared.
If you own or manage a business we’d like to invite you to a business briefing on
Monday March 30 from 6pm at The Moorings Hotel, Hamilton Road, Motherwell.
We will write to you again well before the Tour Series event with more details about what the
road closures will mean for you so there’s nothing you need to do right now. We’ll also let you
know the date and time for a drop-in information session to give more information and answer
any questions you may have.
