Sagebrush Community Art Center Note From the Director
AUGUST / SEPTEMBER 2014 1st Place Nancy Buening - Looking for Shade 2nd Place Linda Hartman - Big Goose Canyon Road Note From the Director Summer is in full swing. Since our last newsletter we’ve had a wide variety of events and exhibits. We were honored to have Ann Fuller’s Native American photography showing in our Sagebrush Fine Art Gallery. After the rodeo parade we had vendor booths in our parking lot featuring Native American arts and crafts. We also had blacksmith, Duane Bomar, demonstrating his craft. It was an afternoon focused on the rich culture of our area with the Pow Wow taking place at Sheridan Inn, and people visiting our gallery and shopping the arts and crafts. We’re excited about the success of the Pow Wow and look forward to supporting the event for years to come. I want to give a huge thank you to the Scott Foundation who awarded us funding to provide scholarships for our Kids Summer Art Camp. Through these scholarships six children were able to attend that otherwise would not have had the opportunity to participate. Big Brothers Big Sisters was able to use several of the scholarships enabling their “littles” to attend. We had a great turnout for this year’s camp and appreciate everyone who taught and helped make it such a successful event. There continues to be a major focus on the arts economy in Sheridan. SAGE has been invited to participate in the newly developed Creative Economy Council. Susan Bigelow, Vice President of External Relations and Economic Development at Sheridan College, has pulled together a committed group of organizations to collaborate on supporting the growth of the arts here in Johnson and Sheridan County. I’ll keep you informed on our involvement and the council as it progresses. We’re excited to announce that we’ve given the Sagebrush Community Art Center website a facelift. We updated the look, made it easier to find information, and streamlined the process for adding content. Please visit us at www.artinsheridan.com. Also check us out on Facebook. You can find us at Sagebrush Community Art Center. The more “likes” the better! Have a great rest of your summer and we hope to see you soon—Laura NEWSLETTER 3rd Place Cynthia Mohseni - In Plain Light Juror Mike Beeman and Sonja Caywood winner of Best of Show.
