KDHX publishing concert, arts, events, and Tim Yeaglin, Treasurer develops innovative arts programming environmental calendars; and by making Bill Appleton and collaborates with a broad network of and broadcasting features on local artists and arts organizations. In 2011, musicians, artists, and arts KDHX continued this tradition of organizations. Over 1,000 active volunteers present a diverse array of artists, genres, and cultural events that do not have a presence in mainstream media. Live and Loud in 2011 In addition to bringing you independent radio programming 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, KDHX was out in the community bringing you the best in live music and supporting our fellow arts organizations throughout the year. Over 2,600 fans came to the City Museum for Midwest Charles “Bobo” Shaw and Zimbabwe Nkenya at the Pulitzer Foundation, photo: Michael Landeck Mayhem in May, Twangfest 15 presented the best in Americana to over 1,000 concert goers, and Sheldon Sessions returned with a rare performance from hometown favorite Jay Farrar. KDHX presented dozens of local musicians in Tower Grove Park for Harvest Sessions and in Grand Center for Thursdays at the Intersection. Our DJs could also be found emceeing the Whitaker Music Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden, welcoming Keb’ Mo’ to Celebrate St. Louis, playing after-parties at The Shakespeare Festival, and creating deconstructed sounds at the Pulitzer Foundation. Sleepy Kitty at The Luminary Center for the Arts, photo: Johnny Andrews KDHX Media Arts held filmmaker workshops with the Webster Film Series and Cinema St. Louis, hosted filmmaking competitions (48 Hour Film Project, National Film Challenge, and International Documentary Challenge) and soldout film screenings at The Tivoli. Art Attack returned to unite art enthusiasts for a raucous destructo-auction; dozens of artists and hundreds of spectators joined in for this celebration of creativity with a sense of humor.
