all our children and new ones who have joined us over the summer
Welcome back to all our children and new ones who have joined us over the summer or
beginning of September. Pre School sent off 42 children on their way to School this
September! And we hope they have had a fantastic start in their new school! We have
already received some lovely comments from a couple of the schools about how we have
given them beautifully behaved children and very confident learners. So a big well done
goes to our Fantastic Pre School Team. I am so proud of both of our Pre Schools and the
teachers with the learning opportunities they provide for the children.
We all had a fantastic summer and we hope you did too, our Preschool/Holiday Club stayed
cool with our new Air Con units. Especially with our holiday club just brimming with children
and crazy activities all summer.
So a quick staffing update to keep you in the know!

We also have Nikki and Emma our lovely lunch ladies, Charlotte (after school and covers in
all rooms), Candy (student – covers in all rooms), Hollie (covers in all rooms) and Becky who
is training to be a teacher and comes and covers staff in the holidays.
Also we say a very big fond farewell to Sophie, who works in our Early Years Room who is
off to have her own bundle of joy, and we hope to welcome Sophie back next year June/July
sometime after her maternity leave. We wish her all the best and of course we will keep you
all up to date with any news of the arrival. We welcome Fiona too, who worked with us a few
years ago as our lunch lady but left to go with her family to Gibraltar for a few years and has
now returned to Lincoln and has come back to us in a new role as an Early Years member of
staff, and not forgetting Bianca who has returned from her Maternity leave, and brings her
gorgeous little boy Alfie to our Baby Room. Bianca is based in the Early Years Room.
As posted on Facebook recently we have now become a registered Rag Bag fundraiser our
box is downstairs in the entrance hall. So please grab a bag and take it home and fill it with
your unwanted clothes, bedding, shoes, handbags, curtains and children’s clothes! And then
pop in and throw it in the Rag Bag box. Please also ask your friends and families.
This is an ongoing fundraising opportunity so the box will be with us for the foreseeable
future so feel free at any time to drop in a bag.

important for the children to still be going outside

What improvements you would like us to make!
Being made more aware of your child’s development and what they are
working on – We hope we have now fixed this by introducing our new forms that are
sent home showing your child’s next steps.
Helping Parents to meet and get to know each other – Looking into this, so watch
this space!!
More notice regarding dressing up days – We do now try to give as much notice
as possible including using face book and txt round for reminders.
Newsletter hit and miss – Yep that’s my fault! :O( I will try my very best to ensure
they are more frequent.
Not always sure on my child’s development – as mentioned above we are hoping
with sending your child’s next steps home, will keep you more up to date with your
child’s learning. Please also ask if you would like to see your child’s development
book and let us know if you would like an informal chat/meeting with your child’s Key
person regarding your child’s development we are more than happy to organise
these to suit you :o)
Parent Evenings – A few have mentioned these in the feedback, we changed our
Meet and Greets, I think a couple of years ago to weekends as we thought this would
be more suitable for our working parents. However I would be really interested in
your thoughts and whether you would prefer these to be on a week night from 630?
Please email nursery@funfarm.co.uk I really would appreciate your thoughts, or txt
parents evening to 07977788496.
More information about what they are learning about and what they do –
Although we only had very few comments regarding this, I felt it would be good to
outline what we do to inform you about what the children are learning about and
activities just in case some of you may not be aware! So what do we do?
Curriculum statements are sent home for all rooms outlining the topics they are
focusing on, this also outlines some of the things the children will be doing or learning
about and gives you some ideas of what you could be doing at home.
Outside all the rooms is a planning board displaying the topic and activities that will
be carried out. In the Pre School the children do the planning and all the children’s
ideas are displayed for parents/carers.
Next steps are now sent home so parents/carers are informed of what their child’s
next steps are and what their Key Person will be focusing on when doing Key Person
activities with your child throughout the day.
Outside Toddler Room and Early Years there is a white board giving you information
about what the children have been getting up to throughout the day.
We were delighted with the fantastic comments we received from the questionnaires and
really take on board areas you feel we can improve on! But please don’t wait for a
questionnaire to come out, if you have any concerns, queries or ideas please do not hesitate
to let us know our door is always open or you can catch us via email nursery@funfarm.co.uk
and tell us your thoughts.
As mentioned above I will try my best to ensure the newsletters are more frequent. If you
also have any ideas of what you would like to see in the newsletters please let me know!
But for now I will leave you with these thoughts!

Fantastic Team
