Oil Paint

in conjunction with them. Then maybe Mont Marte®
Water Mixable Oil Paint is for you.
Mont Marte® Water Mixable Oil paint
is a true Oil Paint that dries and cures
through oxidization, but can be thinned
and washed up in water. The traditional
linseed oil binder in the oil paint has been
molecularly altered by being charge –
polarized, so it becomes hydrophilic, and
this enables it to be dissolved in water.
So Water Mixable Oil Paint is the same
as traditional oil paint in many aspects.
The real difference is that water can be
used instead of turpentine, and other
solvents to wash up and dilute the paint.
The negation of solvents make the process
of painting with these Oil paints, clean,
convenient, and make for a healthy and
environmentally sound work space.
As well as sharing the same
characteristics as traditional Oil Paint,
Mont Marte® Water mixable Oils are also
compatible with traditional oil based
paints and mediums, including water
based emulsions, such as Gouache,
Acrylic Paint and of course water. This
opens up many options, with the prospect
of exciting new colours and effects now
possible to the artist.
Water Mixible Oil Paint features a smooth
buttery consistency that is consistent
across the whole range of colours. The
Pigments used in the paints manufacture
are of a high quality, and each colour
is individually formulated to ensure the
natural characteristics of the pigments
are intensified as much as possible. This
ensures that any colours mix cleanly,
provide excellent coverage and offer
superior tinting strength.
Mont Marte® Water Mixable Oil paints
enable one to accomplish traditional
techniques, such as impasto, dry brushing,
scumbling and glazing. The paint can be
applied with all synthetic and natural brush
types and is ideal for palette knife painting
and sgraffito techniques. Sand can also

be added to the paint to create
interesting effects.
Water Mixable Oil Paint can be
painted over Acrylic emulsions and
used on Canvas, Linen, Wood, Air
Dry Clay, Polymer Clay, Plaster,
Leather and some plastics.
This mixed with the paint’s slow
drying attributes, enables one to
effortlessly blend colours and
facilitates subtle tonal transitions.

oils are very easy to use,
and they can be mixed
with up to 25% of water the paint will still exhibit
excellent light fastness
and tenacious bonding
qualities.
Currently there are 48
vibrant diverse colours
in the range that
cover the standard
chromatic gamut as
well as transparent
colours. There is also
a compatible linseed
based medium in
a fluid form, and a
thicker medium in gel
form available. These
mediums can be used
to adjust the paints
flow ability and create
translucence within the
paint for underpainting
stages and glazes. Both
mediums can also be used with
traditional oil paint.
