XD Forged are built with lightweight 6061 forged
aluminum for superior strength.
Flow Formed Technology, or FFT is a unique casting
process where several powerful hydraulic rollers exert
tremendous pressure on the inner bead to manipulate
the material flowing into the rim wall in a manner
that the thickness of the wall can be reduced while
maintaining the strength and durability of a thicker and
heavier wheel.
The benefit to the performance enthusiast, is a lighter,
higher performing wheel with properties nearly
identical to a forged wheel at a competitive price.

here isn’t an automotive enthusiast
who hasn’t seen it: the 10-minute
car chase in Bullitt is widely regarded as
one of the most iconic in cinema history,
and it should come as no surprise that
the starring car is fitted with American
Racing wheels.
“Americans” have defined
performance for decades and the
popularity of key designs, including
the TORQ THRUST® seen on the Bullitt
Mustang, the 200S “Daisy,” and the
Ansen Sprint slot mag, are so deeply
ingrained in hot rod and muscle car
culture that it’s impossible to imagine
vehicles of the ‘60s and ‘70s without
them. Hot Rod Magazine even named
the TORQ THRUST® wheel one of the “10
most significant speed parts of all time.”
The company’s roots stretch back
some 60 years to a San Francisco speed
shop when racer Romeo Palamides and
shop owner J.O. Ellison teamed up to
build a winning fuel dragster. Working
from Ellison’s small machine shop, they
realized their vision with “The Romeo,”
a 375 horsepower dragster.
Designed for the team by engineering
innovator Tom Griffith. It wasn’t long
after the car landed on the cover of the
November 1956 edition Hot Rod magazine
that the team began fielding calls about
the wheels, and American Racing was
born. By 1958 American Racing had
launched the four-slot magnesium racing
wheel called the Standard. But it was
the company’s 1962 introduction of the
TORQ THRUST® that solidified American
Racing’s position as an aftermarket icon.
In an era when European racing
wheel companies were focused on
semi-solid modular styles, the design
was revolutionary: five tapered parabolic
contour spokes to reduce wheel weight
and promote brake cooling. The design
became increasingly popular among hotrodders who had made the strip-to-street
conversion as a welcome alternative to
factory styles.
As the company grew, the line
expanded: in 1968, polished spindlemount TORQ THRUST® wheels were
introduced and became the dominant
wheel on Funny Cars of the day. A year
later came the 200-S, also known as
the Daisy. In 1971 American Racing
discontinued the TORQ THRUST® but
demand never waned and, a decade
later, hot rodders were paying $1,000
for a clean vintage set. American
Racing returned to its roots in 1986 and
brought back its first re-engineered
TORQ THRUST®, variants of which have
remained in production to this day.
Now, the next generation of modern
muscle is finding a perfect partner in
American Racing with modern hot rods
joining the classics – like the iconic
Bullitt Mustang – in the history books.

marketing strategies to target a certain
demographic which just happens to be
anyone that modifies a vehicle and wants
the latest designs and color available
on the market. And JGR with setting
themselves apart by going against the
status quo and forming their own team
with Factory backing. Much like the
NASCAR teams of today, the Autotrader/
Monster Energy/Yamaha Team’s focus
is on creating exposure and value for its
sponsors, both endemic and outside of
the motorcycle industry.
The Autotrader/Monster Energy/
Yamaha Team was founded by Coy Gibbs,
son of NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame
Head Coach Joe Gibbs, who has won
three Super Bowls, four NASCAR Sprint
Cup Series Championships and four
NASCAR XFINITY Series Championships.
The team made its debut on Jan. 5, 2008
in Anaheim, Calif., at the opening round
of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross
Championship and has continued to
evolve in both it’s stable of successful
riders and it’s leading business sense.
Coy Gibbs sees the future of
motocross following in the footsteps
of NASCAR, with independently owned
manufacturer backed teams fueled by
the enthusiasm of entrepreneurs and
funded by outside of the industry main
stream sponsors eventually becoming
the norm rather than the exception.
Sharing a 150,000 square foot building
with Joe Gibbs Racing’s NASCAR XFINITY
Series operations just down the street
from the team’s NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series headquarters gives JGRMX a
wealth of resources and engineering
acumen at its ready disposal.
KMC is excited to witness and
contribute to the success of JGR racing
during the upcoming 2016 Supercross
and Motocross seasons.
