SMITH’S® NEW EDGE PRO COMPACT KNIFE SHARPENER
BLENDS ELECTRIC AND MANUAL TECHNOLOGY
A “SmartSharp” Design Innovation for 2008
(Hot Springs, Arkansas, January 1, 2008) Smith Abrasives, Inc., of Hot Springs Arkansas, the leader
in innovative sharpening technology, announces the introduction of the Edge Pro Compact, an
electric knife sharpener that incorporates both manual and mechanical sharpening elements. This
unique combination is another from Smith’s “SmartSharp” design technology initiative that provides
a broad capability to easily sharpen dull blades and maintain razor-sharp edges.
Richard Smith, President, stated, “The Edge Pro Compact is the first value-priced electric sharpener
on the market to offer the flexibility of both a factory quality edge electric sharpener and manual
sharpening together in one product.”
The new Edge Pro Compact electric sharpener features a synthetic abrasive wheel made from
bonded materials. The synthetics used are selected for their ability to guarantee longer wheel life,
uniform cutting, and minimal heat build-up, so that de-tempering of the blade does not occur. The
dual sharpening slot configuration allows for the sharpening of both sides of the blade.
The manual sharpening features include crossed ceramic rods for final edge honing with pre-set
angles for guaranteed results every time. The Edge Pro Compact also features a soft-grip rubber
handle for comfort and safety and non-slip rubber feet for secure and stable sharpening on all
surfaces. It plugs into any standard 120V outlet.
