STANDING ORDERS
(1) Those entitled to vote at the AGM are the officers and members of the
Club for 2003.
(2) Voting shall be by a show of hands or by secret ballot at the discretion
of such registered full members. The quota for election is the next
highest number of the total number of votes divided by the number of
vacancies plus one. In the cases of one vacancy to be filled on the
single votes of 90 full members, the quota would be 46.
(3) All motions must be formally proposed and seconded.
(4) The proposer of the motion must do so in less than three
minutes but will have the right of reply for two minutes at the end of
the discussion.
(5) No member other than the proposer may speak more than once on
any motion.
(6) All speakers, other than the proposer of a motion, must limit
themselves to two minutes.

SECRETARYS REPORT - 2003

INTRODUCTIONS:
2003 was great year for gaelic games across all areas. There were many memorable and
enjoyable matches, and Sligo added to the drama and excitement.
Club 2003.
• The Intermediate Footballers reached the County Championship Semi-Final and League SemiFinal. The Junior team qualified for the League Semi-Final and the U-21 Team qualified for
the U-21 B Final.
• The senior hurlers reached the County Championship and League Hurling Finals and won the
League Final.
• Ladies football continued to progress with the formation of a Junior Ladies Team for the first
time.
• Coaching of football (boys & girls) and hurling was carried out by a number of dedicated and
committed people to whom we should be very grateful.
• “Coaching on the green’’ continued in Cartron and was well attended with enthusiastic boys
and girls.
National 2003.
• Tyrone became the 18th County to take their place on the All Ireland Senior Roll of Honour.
They also played in an historic All Ireland and All Ulster Final against Armagh.
• Kilkenny’s all-conquering hurlers put further daylight between themselves and the chasing
pack in 2003 by capturing the four major prizes the sport has to offer—All Ireland Senior,
Minor, U-21, and National League. They won their 28th All-Ireland senior Hurling title with
typical style and skill against a rejuvenated Cork team.
• Nemo Rangers (Cork) won their 7th A.I.B All Ireland Senior Club Football title (‘Andy
Merrigan Cup’) against Crossmolina. Birr the greatest Club Hurlers of all time won the
‘’Tommy Moore’’ Cup for a record fourth time against old rivals Dunloy (Derry).
• Laois won Minor Football against Dublin and Kilkenny won minor hurling against Galway.
Kilkenny won U-21 hurling Final against Galway and Dublin won U-21 Football against
Tyrone.
• N.U.I.G won the coveted ‘Sigerson Cup’ (first presented by Dr George Sigerson of Tyrone in
1911) against UCD and Waterford I.T won the Datapac Fitzgibbon Cup against Cork I.T.
• St. Pats Maghera won the ‘Hogan Cup’ and St Ciarans Kilkenny won the Senior Colleges
Hurling.
Provincial 2003.
• Galway won the Connaught Senior title (Nestor Cup), Mayo won the Connaught U-21 Title
and Galway won the Connaught Minor title.
• Mayo Senior ladies won their fourth All-Ireland Final (Brendan Martin Cup) in five years and
their second back-to-back titles against Dublin. Donegal Ladies won the Junior All-Ireland
title (West county Hotel Cup) against Kildare.
• Caltra won the Connaught Senior Club football final for 2003 against Curry and Crossmolina
won the 2002 Final.
County 2003.
• Sligo senior footballers narrowly retained their Division 1 League status and lost the
Connaught Championship at home to Mayo and were beaten by Donegal in the qualifiers on
June 22nd at Ballybofey.
• Sligo Minor ‘’C’’ Hurlers qualified for the All Ireland Final and were narrowly beaten by
Donegal. Sligo Minor footballers were unlucky to loose to Mayo in the Connaught
Championship.
• Sligo U-16 Footballers brought pride and hope back to football by winning the Tedd Webb
Cup for the first time ever against Roscommon in Ballyhaunis.

Sligo Senior Hurlers qualified for the final of Division 3 NHL and were narrowly defeated by
Mayo.
• Sligo senior footballers will now compete with Cavan, Laois, Galway, Wexford, Armagh,
Limerick, and Meath in the revised Division 1 League.
• Sligo Ladies won the Connaught Junior Championship.
COACHING:
Coaching in the club continued apace during the year in football and hurling (boys and girls).
On every Saturday morning - March to October from 11.00a.m. to 12.30p.m. for 6 - 12 year old
boys and girls.
Ladies football coaching twice a week from April to September.
Underage Hurling training all year round - outdoor and indoor.
City Board Summer coaching two sessions of two hours duration for eight weeks
Gaelic Summer Camp for 7 - 14 year olds, boys and girls for five days at the start of August
provided by the County Development Coaching Committee
National schools through their involvement in Cumann na mBunscoil competitions, hurling,
football and camogie.
Second level schools.
All the team managers organised their own team coaching.
The County school of excellence and Development squads provided another high level of
coaching for selected club players.
There are also coaching courses provided by the County Coaching Development Committee to
interested club members.
There are great opportunities for all interested in Gaelic games to develop their skills, provided
through the Club.
KEANE FAMILY TRUST
Two young girls who were Club Members died tragically in a house fire in their home in
Glendallion Estate on July 5th 2003. Lisa (11) and Laura (6) Keane were joyful, cheerful and
adventurous children who have now gone to their eternal reward. Their brother Patrick has
recovered well after the tragic event.
Kevin O’Brien and Gerry Dillon in association with the Club arranged for a fundraising
challenge match between Calry St Josephs and Kilbride from Roscommon. The match was
played in Shamrock Gaels pitch in September. Many thanks to all involved who helped make
this worthwhile event a success.
U-17 DIVISIONAL TEAMS.
This was the second year of the U-17 Inter Divisional competition, set up by the County
Development Committee along with Club representatives. This competition is to give
meaningful games to interested players and help to bring them closer to County standard. The
North Division Team qualified for the Final in Bunnanadden on Sunday 21st Dec 03 where they
were narrowly beaten by the West in a very exciting and skilful Final. Thanks to Club players
who participated: Michael Gilmartin, Brian Hynes, Keith Raymond, Tommy Scanlon, Oisin Mc
Neela and PJ Boyd. The South Div won the 2002 final against the West. There are plans to
further expand the Inter Divisional Competitions to U-15 and more. This activity will give a
more meaningful and positive role to the Divisional Boards whose functions had been reduced
drastically. I want to thank Club Member Declan Caslin and his Company Bord na Mona for
sponsoring the Jerseys for the North Division Team.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS.
The Special Olympics World Games 2003—ranked as the largest sporting event to take place
anywhere in the World in 2003—have been chosen as winners of the 2003 Texaco Special
Achievements awards. Held outside the USA for the first time, the Special Olympics World
Games 2003 captured the imagination of a Nation from the spectacular opening Ceremony in
Croke Park to the total participation and goodwill of the Irish people over the duration, and
finally to the magnificent closing Ceremony in Croke Park. This was an occasion of immense
joy and pride for all the participants, and as a club we made a contribution to the local
organisation in Sligo. The Special Olympics oath is: - ‘’Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be
brave in the attempt.’’

URBAN DEVELOPMENT.
As a result of a Project submitted by the Sligo City Board to Croke Park there has been a very
successful outcome in the appointment of Eamonn O’Hara –Sligo Footballer and Vodofone All
Star 2002-as full time Games Promotion Officer for Sligo City and environs. His main role is to
co-ordinate, set up and monitor Coaching initiatives in Clubs, National Schools and Second
Level Schools. The Club is also a partner in this Football Development and has a key role to play
in providing coaches and referees to help out with the increasing number of boys and girls
participating in gaelic games. Coaching on the Green in Cartron was set up under this initiative.
COACHING ON THE GREEN.
Coaching on the Green commenced in Cartron in September 02 and continued into November.
Up to fifty children (boys & girls) took part in the Coaching sessions. The delight in children’s
faces when Eamonn O’Hara was present was a joy to behold. Thanks to all who are helping out
at the Coaching and making the initiative such a success. The Coaching takes a lot of time and
effort and the more people involved helps keep the spirits up and makes the exercise more
enjoyable. The time and effort spent coaching can only have a positive and uplifting experience
for the children.
CLUB WEBSITE.
The Clubs Website is now up and running and can be accessed at:
www.calrystjosephsGAA.com. I want to thank Pat Woulfe who has set up the site and is also
maintaining it. All Club news should be Emailed to Pat at pwoulfe@eircom.net. We will try
and keep the Site updated in 2004 with your co-operation.
CUMMANN NA MBUNSCOIL.
Congratulations to Cumann na mBunscoil Shligigh on winning the prestigious PR Award at a
recent Roadstone National Awards Ceremony. This is a most coveted accolade and an honour
richly deserved by the Sligo Committee.
This years I.N.T.O. GAA Mini-Sevens proved once again that the standard of girls gaelic
football in the Country’s Primary Schools continues to rise. Amazing progress has been made in
a short number of years. It is surely just a matter of time before many more Counties make the
break through at Senior level. We must acknowledge the tremendous work being done by
Primary Teachers through out the Country. It is particularly pleasing that boys and girls now
participate in Gaelic Games on an equal basis. Thousands more girls are playing this great game
in Schools and Clubs around the Country. Congratulations to our local NS on the following
achievements: The Calry NS girls on winning the Permanent TSB League against Rathcormick.
St Brendans on winning the hurling in the 3 Teacher Development categories against Curry.
Calry NS who were runners up in the 7+ Teacher Hurling against Strandhill.
St Edwards who were runners up in the Camogie 7+ Teacher against Ransboro.
CATCH AND KICK.
The Mc Donalds Catch & Kick competitions, introduced nationwide in 2003, were
enthusiastically received in the Primary Schools of Sligo. Boys and girls were allowed to test
themselves in some basic skills and to compete against pairs of children from other schools in the
County. The competitions were organised by GPO’s Eamonn O’Hara, Pat Kilcoyne and Gerry
Mc Manus. The eventual winners were Ethan Mc Gowan and Tommy Ryan, St Josephs NS
Templeboy. They represented Sligo in the National Finals in Croke Park on June 15th 03.
FAIR PLAY AWARDS 2003.
St Brendans NS was presented with a Certificate and football at a presentation ceremony in the
Silver Swan Hotel. The overall winner was St Lassata’s NS Ballinacarrow.
As a club we need to play a more active role in providing coaching to the Schools in our area.
Finally I want to thank Cumann na mBunscoil and especially the teachers in our local National
Schools for their dedication, commitment and hard work in preparing and organising School
Teams, boys and girls, hurling and football for the Cumann na mBunscoil competitions.
INTERNATIONAL RULES SERIES 2003.
The Aussies won the Coca Cola Cup for the second time in a row when they defeated Ireland in
the two legs down in Australia. In the MCG, possibly the best stadium in the World, John
O’Keeke’s side showed just why we are known as the ‘fighting Irish’. More than 61,000 people
filed into the famous sporting arena to see the best stars in Irish Sport show off their skills. The

series is now secured until 2012 and there are a number of worthwhile proposals included in the
new deal. In Australia the GAA took the novel step of making the draws for the 2004
Championship outside Ireland for the first time. The Shinty International between Ireland and
Scotland has been a wonderful addition as it allows the best exponents of the small ball game to
wear the Irish Jersey. The GAA took a very positive decision to glamour up the oldest
representative games, the Railway cup, by introducing the lure of a trip to Rome.
UNDERAGE STRATEGIC PLAN.
The underage Strategic Plan is a National Coaching Template that has been developed by GAA
Head of Games Pat Daly, in conjunction with the National Coaching and Games Development
Committee to develop our National Games into the New Millennium. The objectives are to
maximise participation and maintain optimum playing standards. The GAA Units will jointly
fund the Plan: National, Provincial, County and Club. The Club will have the responsibility to
provide certified Coaches to help run initiatives alongside Teachers and Games Promotion
Officers (GPO). The Irish Sports Council and the Sports Council of Northern Ireland are partners
in this venture, and the plan is being jointly funded through equipment, gear and grants. There
are many initiatives through which the plan can be progressed: -Coaching sessions, skills awards,
club mini leagues, Inter club blitzes and many more. We are pleased that Eamonn O’Hara has
been appointed as GPO to the Sligo City Board and wish him well in his new role. John Tobin
has also been appointed as GPO for Connaught. This is a tremendous investment by the GAA
and The Sports Council to promote our National Games and as a club we have a key role to play.
EUROPEAN YEAR OF EDUCATION THROUGH SPORT 2004.
The European Parliament is aiming to give a greater Cultural emphasis to Sport next year by
declaring 2004 the ‘’European Year of Education through Sport’’. The move is being boosted by
a Budgetary allocation.
RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN SLIGO CITY.
Sligo Borough Council is making great progress on the development of Kevinsfort recreation
area, which will consist, among other amenities, of a full size sand carpet grass GAA Pitch and is
due to come into operation in 2004. The Borough Council also have plans, subject to funding, to
progress with Park Development work at Forthill and Clevereagh in the future. As a Club, which
requires more ground, we need to make adequate representation and application for shared use in
any Park Development within the Club area.
SLIGO SPORTS AND RECREATION PARTNERSHIP.
The Irish Sports Council Strategy Document: - ‘’A new era for Sport 2000/2002’’, has as one of
its priorities the fostering and supporting of Innovative Local Sports Partnerships designed to coordinate and promote the development of Sport. The Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership is
acting as a consultative forum and represents the views of all local groups. There is funding
available for Volunteer Training/Education and development of club and community sport and
other activities. We need to be continuously aware of the funding agencies and avail of any help
that maybe available.
CROKE PARK DEVELOPMENT.
Ten years on from the first “wrecking Ball” swung in the direction of the old Cusack Stand,
Croke Park has been transformed into a stadium that is comparable to the best in the world.
Now some five years ahead of schedule, the final touches are being put to the great stadium. In
recent weeks ‘’Hill 16’’ was demolished to make way for a bigger and higher terrace which will
extend right across the Railway End of the ground. The fourth and final phase of the
development will increase the Stadiums capacity to 82,500. The hope is that the terrace will be
completed in time for the All-Ireland football and Hurling Semi-Finals next August. The GAA
have planning permission for a new 200-Bedroom five-story Hotel on Jones Road. This will be a
four star Hotel and is expected to be opened within three years.
EXTRA INTER COUNTY SENIOR COMPETITION.
The Competitions Work Group has proposed an extra Inter-County Senior Competition for
weaker counties. The competition would run parallel with the Qualifier Series and would have a
high profile, culminating in a final alongside another major SFC game in Croke Park in
August/September.
MARCHIEVICZ PARK.
Marchievicz Park hosted a number of major events in 2003: 7

The All Ireland SF Qualifier between Mayo and Fermanagh.
The All Ireland U-21 Football Semi-Final between Mayo and Tyrone.
The very enjoyable and exciting ‘’Westlife Concert’’.
COACHING.
A pilot Club/National School Coaching initiative took place during 2003 and was very
successful. Four Clubs: - St Marys, Tourlestrane, Eastern Harps, and Enniscrone took part. All
Clubs have submitted positive reports and Brian Henry of Cumann na mBunscoil is collating the
Reports. This should provide a model for Clubs in assisting at Coaching School children into the
future.
It is a requirement that all Team Managers and Coaches in charge of both underage and adult
panels should have completed a Foundation Coaching Course. It is also recommended that a
Level 1 Course, which is the next progression after Foundation Level be taken.
The National schools in the Club area were provided with good quality Coaching by the Sligo
City Board in partnership with the Sligo I.T. Four Sligo I.T students on work experience were on
from March until May (14Wks). Each participating NS received one coaching session per week.
The Coaches were: -Damien Gannon, Breda Holohan, Sinead Mc Gill, Nicola Gregg.
SUMMERHILL COLLEGE 2003.
Summerhill College captured the Connaught Junior A Championship in dramatic fashion with a
2-14 to 1-13 win over St Muirdeach’s, Ballina, in a thrilling final at Tubbercurry. Two periods of
extra time were required to resolve a pulsating final. Club players, Brian Hynes, PJ Boyd,
Tommy Scanlon, Keith Raymond were on the team and Shane Gilroy, Oisin Mc Neela, Ronan
Moriarty and Shane Martyn were on the panel. This team also won the Connaught Junior A
League against St Colmans.
It is important that we as a Club and also parents encourage players to play with the College
Teams and to help in any way our Second Level Schools in the promotion of Gaelic Games. The
teachers who give of their time to organise the playing of the games deserve our thanks.
SLIGO I.T.
Sligo I.T. continues to work hard in the promotion of Gaelic Games. It is also very encouraging
to see a Club player, Fergus Horan, on the Senior Team and we wish him well. The Sligo I.T
team are now competing in the Connaught FBD League. Best wishes to the Senior Team as they
compete in the prestigious Sigerson Cup competition in March 2004.
SLIGO U-16 TEAM.
Congratulations to all the players and mentors of the Sligo U-16 Team for their tremendous and
historic success on winning the Ted Webb Cup for the first time ever. Special congratulations to
our Club players who were on the winning team: - PJ Boyd (Full Back No 3), Tommy Scanlon
(Left corner Back No 4), and Keith Raymond (Right Half Forward No 10).
BORD na nOG:
Bord na nOg is a vital organ of the club in the promotion and development of Gaelic games. I
want to thank the officers and members of Bord na nOg for their dedication and hard work
during the year. I also want to congratulate them on all the training sessions organised, games
played and their success on the field of play.
SCOR na nOG:
The Club was well represented in two events at the North Board Scor na nOg Finals in Grange in
Instrumental Music and Question Time. I want to congratulate all participants and all who took
it upon themselves to organise teams for participation in Scor. It is important to ensure that the
promotion of Irish language and culture are promoted at all levels within the Club. Also sincere
thanks to the parents for encouraging their children to participate in Scor na nOg.
DISCIPLINE
It is imperative that all members and supporters of our Club ensure they always have respect for
fellow players, opposition players, supporters, referees and Club property. In this time of greater
accountability Club members we must not bring the name of our Club into disrepute.
CLUB MEETINGS
In order to secure the future development of our Club we would encourage more members to
attend the monthly Club meetings that are held throughout the year. Representations are needed
from all areas of the Club at monthly meetings. To ensure that your views and opinions are

listened to please make an effort to attend a few of these meetings during the year. This is the
official forum for you to discuss any matters in a constructive and positive manner.
For 2004 we would need the following people at a minimum or their representatives to attend the
club meetings
Club Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer & PRO,
Chairman – Bord na nOg,
Chairman – Senior Hurling
Chairman - Juvenile Hurling
Chairman – Ladies Football
Delegates – County Bord, Minor Bord, City Bord, North Bord
These meetings are held in St. Josephs Church on the Second Monday of every month.
PITCH USAGE:
The co-ordination of the pitch usage is a very challenging and demanding task with the everincreasing activity, many thanks to Joe Keane in this regard. Also thanks to Pat Branley and
Brian Maguire for all their work with Joe in ensuring the pitch was inspected and closed where
appropriate. All managers must ensure they liase at an early stage with the Co-ordinator in
determining the times and days of training sessions and games.
INSURANCE:
We advised all players (Juvenile and adults) to have Health Insurance cover eg. VHI, BUPA etc.
before they partake in any sports. It is every individual’s responsibility to ensure they have
adequate health/injury insurance since injury is an inherent part of sport. As in previous years
Coyle Hamilton will offer a Players Injury Insurance Scheme. This scheme is designed to cover
serious injury and is well worth considering. Thanks to Mary O’Reilly for organising the
subscriptions to the GAA / Coyle Hamilton scheme during 2003.
REFEREES:
The Referee plays a key role on the field of play and must be treated with respect. We should all
be prepared to play our part in achieving better quality refereeing by: - changing attitudes
towards referees and refereeing; creating the right conditions for referees to carry out their
duties; promoting respect for referees and the rules and desisting from abusing referees at all
times. The County Board are seeking new referees and I would urge all members to encourage
and support any club person who might be interested in taking up refereeing
FINANCE:
The cost of running a club is continuing to increase. Money is needed to keep the club going, to
buy equipment, to cover transport, to maintain the grounds, to pay insurance and in general to
service the day-to-day needs of the club.
It is important that all Club expenses are pre-approved before they are incurred. If a club member
intends to incur an expense or bill the club for any expenses the amount must be approved at a
club meeting in advance.
No club should fail or decline or restrict its normal activities for lack of money.
Lotto and fundraising:
The Club LOTTO is our main source of fund-raising and I want to compliment and thank Pat
Branley for his commitment and dedication to his role as Club LOTTO co-ordinator and also to
Alo Farragher who plays an important part on the Club LOTTO committee. Many thanks to all
who sold Lotto tickets during the year or who helped with fundraising in any way.
As in 2003 we will be selling our own yearly lotto tickets and we would urge all members and
supporters to continue their support for this. The tickets will cost €25 and will ensure your
numbers are entered in all Club Lotto draws for one year (17 draws). This is our main fundraiser
for 2004 and it is important that every plays a part in promoting it.
Membership:
We would ask everyone to ensure that you pay your membership to a Club Executive
Member before March 1st. Collecting membership and registering members is a time
consuming job the task would be easier performed if all membership was paid on time. Thanks
to all managers and coaches who collected membership from players during the year.
Sponsorship:
It is true to say that no club can survive without sponsorship and this club is no different. We are
always on the look out for sponsorship no matter how small and all sponsorship is very much

appreciated and very welcome. I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all club
sponsors for their contributions during the year and to assure them that their assistance is put to
positive club and games promotion and development.
I want to sincerely thank Pat Branley for his commitment and hard work as club Treasurer and
also Loretta Kearins for her co-operation and help as Assistant Treasurer.

COUNTY PLAYER REPRESENTATION:
It is very heartening and encouraging to see the number of club players who wear the County
jersey at different age levels in Hurling and Football increasing every year. This is surely a
testament to the diligent, dedicated and committed coaching being carried out by many people
down through the years and finally due to the support and encouragement of the parents. I wish
to thank all the coaches, players and parents who are making the wearing of the "Black and
White" a reality and long may it continue.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
Firstly, I want to sincerely thank the Club Executive for their help, co-operation and commitment
during the year and for their attendance at Club meetings.
I am grateful to Club Chairman, Tim Hynes, for his unselfish efforts, support and consideration
during the year. I wish to compliment him on the outstanding work he is doing for the Club as
Chairman.

The club depends on the support and shared commitments of the parents and the local

games. We must never lose sight of the fact that all the clubs activities are carried out on a
voluntary basis with the overall objective to ensure that a positive environment is created where
every team member is recognised and appreciated for his/her unique contribution. Competitions
should be controlled to produce more positive results and successful learning experiences,
physical, social and emotional, for all children in an environment where involvement, enjoyment
and fun are maximised. The Calry/St. Joseph's club is lucky to have so many committed people
willing to give of their time freely and unselfishly to the promotion of Gaelic games that are very
healthy, active and character building sports. As a community we need to continue to give
support, co-operation and encouragement to all club members actively involved in club
activities.

INTERMEDIATE TEAM (Appendix 1)
League
The team performed well during the year finishing in the top four in the league. However the
team were beaten by a more determined Ballymote side in the semi-final.
Championship
The team lost their first game to Ballymote in the qualifying round but managed to beat St Marys
convincingly in the second round. Despite missing a number of regulars the team held off
Enniscrone in Tubbercurry in the Quarter-final. Eastern Harps were a formidable opposition in
the semi-final and a draw was the outcome. Harps were to prove too strong in the replay winning
by two points.
All in all, it was a good season. Approximately, 75 - 80 training sessions, played 30 games,
reached 2 semi-finals. Unfortunately, we did not proceed any further. A lot done, more to do.

JUNIOR TEAM (Appendix 2)
The team played Coolera in the Championship. Considering the youthful team representing the
club a brave effort was made by all involved.
The team performed exceptionally well in the league qualifying for the semi-final. Despite
having a strong team on the day Easkey proved the better team.
U21 TEAM (Appendix 3)
After the relative success of the Intermediate team confidence was high that this years Under 21
team would be successful. We were entered in the B Championship which consisted of 8 teams
and the competition was ran over 3 consecutive weekends. Our first outing was against
Bunninaddan in Hazelwood and this was a game we won easily 3-11 to 0-11. The following
weekend we took on Mullinabreena in the semi final and this resulted in another easy win by 213 to 1-5.
The final took place on the 9th November in Ballintogher and the opposition was Shamrock
Gaels. Unfortunately on the day we did not perform as well as we had in on the 2 previous
weekends and were beaten by 3 points in the final. The fact that 2 key players were severely
hampered by flu did not help the teams fortunes on the day.
The team just like its intermediate counterparts just lacked that bit of luck which every team
needs to be successful, added to the fact that 2 players of the quality of Donnacha Mullin and
John Scanlon were unavailable meant that the teams chances were diminished. The team had 11
training sessions over the space of 6 weeks which were well attended.
I would like to thank selectors Martin Horan and Tim Hynes for there time and effort over the 6
weeks. A special words of thanks must go to my co-manager Ian Kearns whose organisational
skills and preparation were second to none. Thanks Christy.
On a positive note only 2 of this year Under 21 panel are over age next year so the future looks
good for this group of players, also this team has unearthed a number of players which will be
valuable additions to the Intermediate panel next year.

SENIOR HURLING 2002-2003 (Appendix 4)
The Club Hurling activities started with, senior Hurling Club Chairperson Henry Cox receiving
the 2002 Sligo Weekender Hurling person of the year in February an award well deserved for
years of dedication to Hurling in Sligo as well as to Calry/St Josephs GAA Club. On the field of
play, our first two matches were a bit like the Movie Back to the Future, as they were two finals
held over due to weather conditions of the previous year. The first final was the Dermot Molloy
Senior League Final played on the Easter Bank Holiday in Tubbercurry against Tourlestrane.
The team won by an eight points on a 3-11 to 1-9, a highlight of the match was that six minors
were blooded in the final. A trend that was to follow in subsequent League Matches in 2003.
At the end of April they played and won the 2002 North West League Final Beating Four
Masters Donegal in Ballyshannon on a 4 –12 to 1-10. The 2003 season started in earnest on the
May Bank Holiday weekend with the Club participating in the Sean Grimes Ballyshannon
Tournament. The Club played Lisnaskea, Ballyshannon, Letterkenny in the Semi-final we beat
old foes Four Masters. In the Final we overcame Stranorlar 2 –8 to 1 – 9.
On the Bank Holiday Monday the team travelled to Ballyfarnon and played a charity match v St
Marys Carrick on Shannon in aid of shelter. The match was organised by Ronan Watters and
raised €2600. The Dermot Molloy League started in May with matches against Naomh Eoin,
Tourlestrane that we won, June saw matches against Tubbercurry and Ballymote which saw us
qualify for our third league final in a row against Naomh Eoin.
The Senior Championship started in mid July with our first outing a crunch match with County
Champions Tubbercurry. In what was to be the hurling match of the season in Sligo, the lead
changed 11 times as the game ebbed and flowed from one team to another, Calry/St Josephs
looked to be on their way to a famous victory, only to lose by a point due to two late frees on a 2
–16 to 3 –12 score line. The club then had consecutive victories over Naomh Eoin, Ballymote
and Tourlestrane which set up a semi final meeting against town rivals Naomh Eoin which was
played in the IT Sligo pitch. We had a great victory on a 4 –13 to 1 – 8 to set up a final with
Tubbercurry. The county final weekend was busy one for our minor players, as they had to play
an All Ireland final on the Sunday after playing a county final 24 hours earlier. The final itself
saw Calry/St Josephs get off to a slow start as Tubber showed their experience by getting of to an
early lead, Calry slowly came back into it and were down by a point at half time 1 –6 to 1 – 5.
Again a slow start to the second half saw us chasing the match even though scoring 2 –3 in the
last 5 minutes saw us lose by 4 points 3 –19 to 4 –12.
The following day Cian Hackett, Keith Raymond, Liam Reidy and Donnacha Sheridan started
for Sligo in the Minor C All Ireland Final v Donegal. Larry Cadden and Michael Gilmartin came
on in the second half. All players were a credit to themselves and our club in the way they
played on the day. The Dermot Molloy League Final was played on the last Saturday of
September against local rivals Naomh Eoin in Kent Park. As stated early the management went
with youth against a very experienced Naomh Eoin team. 7 of the starting 13 were minors who
didn’t shirk responsibility and led by example with Larry Cadden, Ronan Cox, Michael
Gilmartin getting important goals and points, Cian Hackett made some vital saves including a
penalty early on, Liam Reidy again scored some fine points belying his age, Jonathan Porter and
Keith Raymond were outstanding in defence with Keith scoring a great goal in the process.
The final score was 2-11 to 0 –06 to Calry/St Josephs. The final act of the day was for new Sligo
County Chairperson Henry Cox to present the Dermot Molloy League Cup to Captain Fiachra
Coyne. With youth coming through and getting experience playing in the Senior League,
hopefully we can go one better this year and beat Tubbercurry.
At this stage I’d like to thank Joe Keane for helping with pitch bookings, Padraig for looking
after and making dressing rooms available, Breege Scanlon for providing first aid throughout the
year, Marcy Coyne, Margaret Raymond Deirdre Cox Ger Reilly, Shane Boyd Eamon Lonergan

16 medals with both Summerhill and Sligo last year and on Keith playing for Sligo Senior
Hurlers at such a young age an not looking out of place, a product of Joe Keanes and Henrys

school of hurling. Also Congratulations to Michael Galvin on being appointed Sligo Senior
Hurling Manager for 2004 and to Henry Cox who was appointed Sligo County Hurling
Chairperson for 2004 as well as County Team Selector. Finally lets us hope that 2004 brings a
double success to the club in bringing a Senior Hurling title as well as an Intermediate football
title back to Calry.

U18 TEAM (Appendix 5)
The team did not reach the knock out stages of either the Championship or the League. Training
commenced on 2-04-03 and finished on 23-08-03.There was a total of 32 Training sessions held.
Attendance at Training was poor and only four players attended more than 50% of the Sessions.
There were 14 matches played: -7 in the League and 2 in the Championship and 5 challenge
matches. Won 4 and lost 5 of the competitive matches.
Minor A League 2003.
31-3-03: Home to St. Johns. Lost by 4—11 to 1—10.This was a very sporting and exciting
match. Calry played well against the strong wind in the first half and held St Johns to 1—8 to
1—3 and early in the second half brought the score difference to 2pts. But St Johns greater
teamwork and determination dominated the 4th quarter and ran up a score of 3—3 to Calry’s
7pts. This was a rude awakening to the realities of playing minor football with many basic errors
being made as the fitter St Johns ran at us.
7-04-03: away to Mullinabreena. This was a nail biting, sporting, and exciting game of
football. Mullinabreena raced into a 5 pts lead but we clawed our way back into the game with a
well-taken goal and a good point. The lead changed on a number of occasions before we finally
won the game 2—11 to 2—7. This was a very gutsy and spirited performance with super
performances from Brian Hynes (after playing a rugby blitz), Fergus Horan and Billy Brennan.
11-04-03: Home to Eastern Harps. Lost 1—9 to 0—7. This was a very hard hitting and tough
game of football. The opposition were well up for this game and had one objective -to win the
game. We were too casual in our play, missed easy scoring chances from play and frees, giving
away hard won possession with poor passing and missing tackles. We finished the game with a
number of injuries: - Shane Martyn with a bang on the knee, Fergus Horan with concussion
after a clash of heads, Conor Feehily with a racing pulse, Ronan Foley with a broken finger nail,
Ronan Moriarty with a twisted knee. Shane Martyn, Brian and Kevin Hynes gave good
determined performances.
21-04-03: Home to Drumcliffe. Won 2--8 to 1—13. This was a titanic struggle to the end.
Scores were difficult to get with both defences yielding little. The team played very well as a unit
with a tour de force performance from Donnacha Mullin and great performances from Ronan
Foley, Oisin Mc Neela and Niall O Brien. This was a wholehearted and committed performance
with the result in doubt up to the final minutes.
28-04-03: Home to Ballymote. Lost 2—13 to 1—10. This was a game where we were always
in with a chance of winning but we were not sharp or crisp enough. We spilled the ball and gave
it away too easy, and missed a number of scoring chances.
23-06-03 Home to Tourlestrane. Won 0—8 to 0—6. This was a do or die match as far as
staying in contention for the league. The match itself was nerve wrecking, heart throbbing and
exciting with all the team giving their best. All the players worked very hard, put in some great
tackles, ran and put their bodies in the way of the onslaught from Tourlestrane. Defences were on
top and the level of endeavour and energy expended was enormous. The pace and huge work rate
of both teams continued to the final whistle. There was great jubilation after this game and many
of the players passed the pain barrier with their huge commitment, work rate and determination.
All players put in a massive effort but their were star performances from Fergus Horan, Brian
Hynes, Shane Martyn, PJ Boyd, Donnacha Mullin, Michael Gilmartin and Tommy Scanlon.
30-06-03: Away to St Marys. Lost 3—6 to 1—9. This was a game we needed to win to claim a
place in the League quarter finals. Our team seemed to be a bit complacent about the proceedings
and our determination and will to win was below par. St Mary’s were well up for this match even
though they had nothing at stake. We played poorly, missed easy scores from play and frees and
our passing was sloppy. The will to win and to give that extra bit was not there. There were good
performances from Keith Raymond, Fergus Horan and Brian Hynes.

There was an air of gloom and disgust in the dressing room afterwards with everyone realising that
the team was out of the League for 2003.
• Challenge Matches: We played five challenge matches- Bundoran 17/6/03, 1/8/03, Ballymote
3/8/03, Drumcliffe 6/8/03, Manorhamilton 18/8/03.
• Minor A Championship. 2003.
• Away to Mullinabreena 11—08-03.: Won 2—12 to 0—7. Our players were well up for this
game as they were well focused and very determined. The opposition were very physical and
were more interested on occasions on going for the man rather than the ball. This was a very
satisfying performance and a great victory. There were great performances from Fergus Horan,
Shane Martyn, Ronan Foley, Niall O’Brien, Michael Gilmartin, Brian Hynes and Donnaca
Mullin.
• Home to St Mary’s: 25—08—03: Lost 1—6 to 2—12. We started of the match with an
abundance of possession but the scoring rate was very low. Every time St Mary’s attacked they
got a score. They also got a fluky goal from a badly hit free. At half time we were 5pts down- 23 to 0-4. With 12 minutes left we were within 3pts and started to go for goals and continued to
put the ball wide from frees and play. Some players then lost their composure and we had four
players booked by referee Eddie Waters. Overall we had enough possession to win the game but
we lacked composure in front of goal when going for scores and the fitness level was found
wanting in the final few minutes. St Mary’s were more determined, more aggressive and more
efficient with possession and they frustrated some of our players with their continuous fouling
and dragging down. On the evening there were good performances from Billy Brennan, Ronan
Foley and Brian Hynes.
• Finally thanks to all the players who turned up for training and attended matches. Also a
special thanks to the players who sold Club Lotto Books as part of their financial contribution
towards running the club. Thanks to the parents who attended the matches and transported
players and also helped as umpires and linesmen. I want to especially thank the U-16 players

U16 TEAM REPORT (Appendix 6)
Sligo county U-16’s had an excellent win in this years Ted Webb Cup. Three U-16’s
from Calry-St.Joseph’s played a formiddable part in the Sligo U-16 Sligo team last
year, Keith Raymond, P.J Boyd and Tommy Scanlon. Congrats to them and I think
everyone in the club will agree they hold bright futures ahead of them.

Championship:
After a somewhat dissapointing league campaign, we assembled for our round 1
championship game with Curry, thankfully with a full panel of players on the day. It

showed as we defeated Curry 2-6 0-4. It was a huge win for us after losing to Curry
some weeks before hand in the league campaign. Anyone who was at the game would
agree it was an excellently contested game and a credit to both teams. We had notible
performers on the day Damien O’Boyle, Keith Raymond, Tommy Scanlon, Dane
Torsney and Mark Hynes. Unfortunatley we lost out narowley to Tourlestrane in the
quarter finals, in an away tie played in Tubbercurry.
Amazingly 11 out of the 25 panel we fielded last year are eligible to play U-16 football
next year, and along with the up and coming U-14 from the last two years this year
could be a prosperous one for Calry U-16’s.

U-14 TEAM (Appendix 7)
Feile na nOg
2003 was a mixed year for the Calry/St Josephs under14 team. The team started training early in
February and had a squad of 30 players. Our first competition was Feile na nOg which started on
March 23rd. Our first opponents were Shamrock Gaels and we played them away in Coola. We
fought hard and were up by a point going into injury time but unfortunately we gave away a free
and they nicked a point with seconds to go. Our team was missing 6 possible first team players
due to sickness and other sporting commitments and unfortunately for the team this trend would
continue.
League
Our next match after Feile was in the league on the 14th of May when we played eventual
winners Enniscrone at home. Played in wet conditions we conceded a few goals due to the
conditions and ended up with a draw. Our next match was supposed to be against Eastern Harps
away on may 23rd but the match was cancelled due to their pitch been unplayable. Tourlestrane
were the visitors when we played them on May 30th. Unfortunately for us we gave away a
penalty which we ended up regretting in the end and lost the match. For our next match we
travelled to Skreen to play St Pats on June 6th. We ended up beating St Pats well and we got our
first win. On June 13th we were down to play Coolera/Strandhill but unfortunately their U-14
Hurlers were away at the Feile Finals so they cancelled the match. On June 20th we played St
Johns who went on to win Feile and the Championship. We played very well and ended up
beating the old rivals by 6 points. The last game in the group stage of the league was against our
other town rivals St Mary’s. We were missing a few players but still managed to come away with
a 4 point win. We ended up progressing to the league Semi Final where we ended up facing St
Marys and again we were missing a couple of players. During the first half we lost one of our
stronger players due to injury and ended up down by 8 points at half time. Our players didn’t let
the score line get them down and came out fighting in the second half. Calry started going for
goals and ended up getting 4 in the match and were only a point behind until St Marys came
back with a goal and ended our chances. This was a very entertaining match and was a credit to
the players who never gave up. A total of 9 goals were scored between the teams.
Championship

Round 1 of the championship was played at home against Tourlestrane on July 4th. Before the
match even started we were fighting an uphill battle. Unfortunately for the U-14 team we were
missing 8 possible first team players. Three player were on Holidays, two were injured and a
further three were at the gaeltacht. We gave it our best shot but came away defeated. It’s a pity
that the most important competition the Championship has to be played when children are on
holidays.
Conclusion
Last years U-14 team had a lot of potential and I am sure that with a full team we could of
brought silverware to Calry as we beat the Feile and championship winners and drew with the
league winners when we played them. We had problems with players opting to play other sports
for important match’s and I personally think the Championship could be played at a better time
when children are at school and not on holidays or at the Gaeltacht. This team has a lot of skilful
and talented players and if they keep up the sport they will go far for club and county. The
Managers would like to thank the parents and club members who have helped us in 2003 and to
Pauric Connor who is always there to open up the facility’s.

always wholehearted and committed. There was a noteable improvement in the latter stages of
the league.
Championship 2003 The team lost to St Marys in the first round of the championship on a
scoreline of 2-5 to 3-8.
The team also took part in the prestigious Willie Rogers tournament in Ballyshannon at the
beginning of October. They were narrowly beaten by Ballintra and Bundoran and drew with host
club Aodh Rua and finished a credible 3rd overall.

The U10 team participated in the newly formed North divisional league in 2003. They had six
games in total. The first outing was against St. Molaise Gaels on the 9/4/03 where they recorded
a good win. The team were not successful in this competition but had good games never the less
against Coolera, St John’s, Owenmore Gaels, St. Mary’s and Drumcliffe.
The final was eventually won by St John’s. All panel members were presented with medals in
Grange the day of the final where a very well run blitz was held for teams who did not reach the
final. All players were treated to refreshments after the event and a special word of thanks must
go to all the North Div. League organisers (Donal Lyons, John Lee, Tom Haran and Tim Hynes)
and all those who helped with the competition.

U10 Community Games
The U10 team performed well in this competition reaching the semi-final. The team had three
games. The team started with a good win away against Gurteen on 11/6/03 which was followed
up with another good win away to Geevagh. Riverstown were the opposition in the semi-final.
This match was played in Hazelwood. Riverstown played some very fine football and won easily
in the end.

U-9 TEAM:(Appendix 11)
The Under 9 team performed very well in the City Board League in reaching the final of the
competition in September 2003. They had six games in total. The team had good wins over
Drumcliffe and Coolera. The team next lost away to St. John’s. The team next met St. Mary’s at
home in Hazelwood and after a ding dong battle the match finished all square. The team had to
play St. Mary’s a second time as both teams had the same number of points and the winner
would meet St. John’s who had already qualified for the final. Calry/St.Josephs’s proved the
better team the second time around and duly qualified for the final.
The final was played in Kent Park and the team were unlucky not to win. The team were
presented with their runner up medals.

CALRY JUVENILE HURLING REPORT:(Appendix 12)
The Year 2003 was unfortunately a very poor year for Juvenile Hurling in the Calry/St. Josephs
Club. It was arguably the worst year since hurling was introduced in the parish almost 15 years

ago. This situation will have to be tackled head-on if hurling at underage level is not to become
just a memory.
Indoor Hurling : - Indoor hurling continued every Tuesday night in the Tennis Club from
the middle of January until the end of March. Calry/St. Josephs participated in only one of the
County indoor competitions (U-10). We decided to deviate from the normal Indoor Hurling
Rules, & players were permitted to lift the sliothar into their hand & strike from the hands. Due
to lack of interest and poor attendance at the 10+ sessions, the Annual 5 a side tournament for the
Matt Gilsenan trophy was not played.
Feile na nGael : - We were knocked out in the first round by the eventual winners, Coolera
/ Strandhill.
U - 12 : - We failed to field in one of the games, which was discussed at length at a Bord na
nOg meeting. On the plus side, our U-12’s were very young and all but two of the team are
underage again this year. This years U-12’s certainly have great potential and hopefully this will
be the team to put us back on track.
U - 14 : - With great difficulty we participated in the Championship. To show how far we’ve
gone back this bunch of lads strolled through the U-10 four years ago and also the U-12 two
years ago. This year we could not even win the U-14 “B” Championship.
U - 10 : There were no games / competitions for the U-10’s as the attendance at the
coaching sessions was pathetic.
Minors : - As in previous years the Minors were well represented at County level and
enjoyed great success.

Calry St Josephs Adult Ladies Football 2003. (Appendix 13)
This was a historic year for the Adult Ladies of the Club as they set up a team that competed in
the Sligo League and championship for the first time. It is the culmination of the many years of
coaching and working with underage girls by a few dedicated people:, Deirdre Quinn, Geraldine
Quinn, Sheila Devaney , Geraldine Lowry and many more.
Calry St Josephs Ladies took part in both the Junior League and Championship in 2003. The
other teams involved were Ballymote, Castleconnor, Geevagh who won the League and
Cloonacool who won the Championship. There were not many matches won but the friendships
and comradeship built up augers well for the future. Great progress was made during the year
and we look forward to the next season with optimism.
Many thanks to Chris Gonley who managed the team, and Mary White, Peter Dolan, Chris
Murtagh, Deirdre Quinn, Benny O’Reilly and Vincent Nally who all helped out. Also thanks to
the loyal supporters who followed the team and travelled to the games. Also a sincere thanks to
the Club Executive who encouraged us and for the use of the Pitch.

LADIES U-12 (Appendix 14)
The U12 campaign started with the league in April. Having been promoted to the A group in
2003. We were well able to compete but did not have as many wins, although we took great
pleasure in beating our near neighbours Coolera.
In the community games we reached the semi final but were beaten by the eventual winners
Curry.
Competitions apart from challenge games finished in August with the championship, though
quite a number of the panel showed great enthusiasm and commitment and continued training
right into October. Thanks to all who helped with the U12 training especially Frances Conlon.

The U14 team started the league on the 22nd March. They were in the A league this year. They
competed with teams from Enniscrone, Coolera, St Nathys, Tourlestrane, and Curry. In the
championship they competed with teams from Ballymote, Tourlestrane, and Castleconnor. The
team performed very well in both league and championship.

The year 2003 started with a Lotto Jackpot of €1,450.
2003 was a disappointing year for lotto sales. Teams will need to take a more proactive role in
selling more books during the year if the Lotto is to remain a success.
Congratulations to all the winners over the year and a special thanks to all who supported the

SCOR na nOG:(Appendix 18)
This years North Divisional; Final of Scor na nOg was held in Grange Hall in early December.
The Club was represented in two categories:
Instrumental Music – this group was made up of Roisin Kelly, Aoibhinn McMorrow, Rachel
Marsden, Sharon McDermott and Thomas Kelly.
Question Time- This group comprised John Gilligan, Conor griffin and Thomas Kelly.
Both groups acquitted themselves well. Unfortunatly neither made it through to the County Final
Stage.
Many thanks to Breege Kelly and Brian MacDiarmuid who were responsible for preparing the
instrumental group. Others areas of competition were Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Novelty
Act, Recitation / Story Telling, Ballad Group and Set Dancing.
It is unfortunate that more Club members do not take an active part in Scor activities. There was
a wonderful display of talented youngsters in Grange a the large audience were treated to a very
enjoyable afternoons entertainment. Hopefully the Calry St Josephs area can increase the
numbers participating in next years Scor events.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES (Appendix 20)
There were a number of social events in the year which proved very worthwhile and entertaining.
The first of these was the Annual social held in early summer. Joe Keane was awarded the
Clubman of the year award for his years of dedicated servive to the Club. Gary Dillon was
presented with a Merit award to recognise all the work done with the U14’s, his work with the
schools, coaching on the green and his ability to help out the Bord na nOg. Liam McGuinn
received the Players award (Liam was in the USA but Manager Stephen Devaney accepted it on
his behalf). Junior player of the year was presented to the dedicated Ian Kearins. Ciaran Coyne
received the Most Improved player of the year award. Benny O’Reilly was the recipient of the
Minor Player of the year award. Geraldine Flanagan was presented with special awards for her
many years of service to the development of the Club.

Club History - Extract from Club website
The club we now call Calry/St. Joseph's, derives from Calry Gaels, a club formed in 1972.
While Calry Parish had been represented in both codes of football in the past, the War years and
'hungry fifties' were not conductive to progress. However, the sixties saw an increasingly active
population and there was a vacuum to be filled in community life, sporting, social and cultural.
Athletics had been revived in 1951, soccer was now well established and the time was ripe for the
revival of G.A.A. affairs. A group of people came together for that purpose and the first club officers
were elected as follows:

Secretary: Michael McGuinn
Treasurer: Paddy Verdon
Others such as Sean Sexton, Christy Heraghty, Seamus Cummins and Roddy Gillen played a major
part in the formation of the club. Christy Heraghty took over as chairman the following year and Pat
Branley, Jim Flanagan, J. Kennedy and Brian McGauran became heavily involved.
Team success came quickly, The team winning the Junior Football League in 1975 and the County
Junior Championship in 1976.

While the team had tasted success, the club had only temporary use of playing fields. There was no
permanency and the club needed a permanent home.
In 1975 Jimmy Flynn reported on the possibility of obtaining the Hazelwood land and the opportunity
was not allowed to go by default. Trustees were nominated - Jim Flynn, Pat Branley, Seamus
Cummins, John Devaney - and fund-raising began. Meanwhile, youth was being looked after and the
cultural aspect was taken care of by significant involvement in Scór, and Pat Branley got Ciste off the
ground. All the while fundraising was going on by way of raffles, collections, sponsored walk, lottery,
quiz, mayoral election, etc. and the work load increased. Officers over the years were:

The land was purchased and development began. The club officials were mindful of the GAA
Commission Recommendation: 'To cater for its members, clubs should aim to have:

Full-size playing pitch and practice pitch
b.
Dressing rooms with adequate facilities, showers, etc.
c.
Club function room'.
In 1982 the foundation for the new dressing rooms was laid. Indeed, it could also be said that a solid
base and foundation was laid for an all-embracing club. From humble beginnings the club has evolved
to the stage that is bordering on the ideal, maybe not yet in high standards of playing performance at
all levels, but in the widest range of involvement at all ages and both genders in cultural, social and
leisure activities. The Community can now boast of first class sporting facilities, all weather pitch,
running track, floodlit training area, dressing rooms, tennis court, car park, etc.
Loyalty and dedicated services to an exceptional degree has ensured that grounds, well positioned and
equipped, are used to meet the growing needs of our youth.
In a time of great social, material and economic change and a consequent changing pattern of society,
with greater popularity and availability of other leisure activities, there is an ever-present-need to
maintain and foster our own uniqueness.
The club has been remarkable for the voluntary nature of the services it has attracted since foundation.
In an age of competing attractions, the quality of this service is now more important than ever.
The club has been blessed with the ability, the dedication and the enthusiasm of its voluntary workers.
In 1987 the interdependence of urban and rural hinterland was accepted and recognised by the coming
together of Calry/St. Joseph's to supplement Calry Gaels, not replace it. As Calry Parish embraces St.
Joseph's, extending as it does, to the Garavogue River, the effect was merely to restore to Calry its
historic area within its natural boundaries.
One of the problems of urban society is often one of loss of community identity, and Calry/St.
Joseph's, by providing a sense of belonging to sporting and cultural organisation seeks to overcome
this and provides a focus for the leisure activities of entire families and an opportunity for social
contact, with the added dimension of commitment to the fostering of all Gaelic culture.
The club has now advanced to the state where it fields teams in all grades of under-age football and
hurling as well as Intermediate and Ladies football. The year 1995 was a particularly historic year in
that the Juvenile Hurlers won both U-12 and U-14 County Championships and the Intermediate
football team won promotion to Senior status for the first time, having reached the League Final, being
beaten by Coolera in a great game.
It is hoped that the sterling work of the officers of the club will continue to draw strength from the
support of the Calry/St. Joseph's community of people in the years ahead.
