In Memoriam: Paul J. Anderson
Paul J. Anderson, 81, of Leander, Texas, passed from this
life on December 25, 2014.
He was born on March 20, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas to
Samuel Lee Anderson and Gladys Nell (Elder) Anderson.
After graduating from Polytechnic High School, he attended
Texas A&M University and later Texas Christian University. It
was during this time that he met M. Jeannette Curry. They
were married at the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods on the
campus of Texas Women's College in Denton, Texas on July
24, 1953. After 52 years of marriage, Jeannette predeceased
him on May 2, 2006.
Paul's college career was interrupted by the draft service. After his active service and
commitment in the Army Reserve, he returned to college at Arlington State (now known as UT
Arlington) and started a career in electrical engineering, specifically with theatrical lighting.
Later he would also acquire a license to sell life insurance.
In addition to his family, he filled his life with many activities including semi-professional
photography, flying as a licensed pilot and certified flight instructor, life-long Mensa member,
International Society for Philosophical Enquiry, a brother of the local Norton Moses Masonic
Lodge, dancing clubs and fantasy poker clubs. Through these activities he made many friends
and meaningful relationships.
Whether you knew him as Paul or Jack, he was also known as husband, brother, father,
granddad, the "High-Flyer", the "Night Owl", or the "Word-Slinger". He always had something to
contribute, enlighten or entertain for those around him and he will be missed very much by
many.
Survivors include three children: son, Paul Eric Anderson and wife Tri of Jakarta, Indonesia;
daughter Jane Marie Hurst and husband Steve of Marble Falls; and daughter Kristi Jeannell Smith
and husband Daniel of Round Rock; eight grandchildren: Kristoffer Anderson, April Beatty and
husband Cody, William Hurst, Daniel Hurst, Tory Hurst, Erien Anderson, Elleanore Anderson, and
Patrick Anderson; three step-grandchildren: Andrew Smith, Aaron Smith and Annabel Smith; one
great grandson, Cuyler Beatty; and one great step-grandson, Nathaniel Smith.
Paul's was buried on December 30th next to Jeannette at the Liberty Hill Cemetery on Highway
29 in Liberty Hill, Texas.
