The AllSpice™ spice rack launches this August on the crowdfunding website, Kickstarter. The Osterhaus Family always made cooking a priority. “We grew up cooking as a family and one of my earliest memories is chopping onions for my mom,” says HausLogic founder, Max Osterhaus. That love of cooking stayed with Osterhaus as he moved out onto his own and developed a passion for culinary exploration and experimentation. Like most food enthusiasts, he began to amass a disorganized, overcrowded, messy cabinet of spices in jars, bags, bottles, and boxes. “You don’t realize just how many spices you actually have until you start looking for a solution 60 or more is quite common” says Osterhaus. The spice racks on the market were bulky, low capacity, low quality, and impractical. So, Osterhaus started designing a spice rack that would solve all of these problems. After many iterations, Osterhaus hit on a design that gives increased capacity, takes minimal counter space, allows for easy access to spices, protects spices from heat and light, and looks beautiful in the kitchen. Made of oak and taking up a mere 4.5” at the very back of the countertop, the AllSpice™ spice rack is the first spice rack built with serious home cooks in mind. The AllSpice™ rack includes 60 custom glass jars, 120 preprinted labels and is finished with clear coat to protect it from liquids. Having the spices organized and easy to use makes cooking a delight. The easy access allows home chefs to create unique flavor combinations by quickly scanning a pallet of herbs and spices. In his basement workshop, Osterhaus handbuilt AllSpice™ racks for all of the members of his family and soon realized that the demand outstripped his capacity. Joining forces with his sister, father, and stepmother to help launch a company was an obvious choice. In 1998, Osterhaus’s father, Mark Osterhaus, founded Out of the Box Publishing, the company that created the wildly popular board game, Apples to Apples. Out of the Box sold over 4 million copies of Apples to Apples and published more than 40 other game titles. In 2008, Mark Osterhaus transitioned to farming in rural Wisconsin and is now excited for the opportunity to bring great products to families again. Launching on Kickstarter crowdfunding website August 4th, the AllSpice™ rack will be available at early bird discounts up to 40% off for the earliest backers. www.kickstarter.com. Retail $200.
