Our goal is to provide each camper with a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where they feel encouraged to learn, grow, and thrive throughout the summer. In addition to our group activities, our daily camp-wide events help to foster a feeling of community and belonging while embracing each camper’s individuality. Our professional staff is led by full-time Y employees who, during the summer, are joined by our team of teachers, college and high school students to create an intentional community where children are positively guided through experiences that are truly life changing. Our thorough screening process and trainings ensure a skilled and well-trained staff, so your child can have the best possible camp experience. On behalf of our entire camp staff team, we look forward to you joining our community this summer to continue to build upon our summer traditions and create memories for a lifetime. The following pages detail all of the camps available for summer 2016. HEALTH AND EMERGENCY INFORMATION: New to our camp program this year, CampDoc – a web-based electronic health record system for camps. CampDoc consolidates and integrates camper health information into a centralized and secure location. It has been approved by the American Camp Association and will make the collection of these records more efficient and accurate. After your child has been registered for camp you will receive an email from register@campdoc.com. If you are new to the system, the email will contain a login and password that has been created specifically for you. You will then be asked all the emergency and medical information that we require. This will include any necessary information regarding allergies or medications that may need to be administered. Once completed, our camp staff will have accurate and up-to-date information to care appropriately for your child. CampDoc is a streamlined process to collect the information and eliminates the need for cumbersome paper forms. Reminders will be sent to you if any information is outstanding. EXTENDED HOURS At the Y, kids have a safe place to learn, explore and have fun on summer days while their parents work. To provide families with flexibility and convenience, we offer extended hour options. We extend camp fun through activities that keep the kids engaged before the day begins and as they wind down at the end of the day. Please ensure you choose the “Extended Hours” option when you register your child(ren) for camp. Four years later, Hunter is still excited to pick from the variety of camps and trips. It’s nice to see him make friends and keep in touch with them all year long. As a single mom, I’m so happy knowing Hunter has a safe haven while I’m working. He is so comfortable at the Y and never bored—we even use their After Care program for school breaks. Hunter is a natural helper, and he really enjoys assisting counselors with younger campers. I’m proud when his counselors tell me what a good kid he is. He is most proud of receiving ‘Responsibility’ character cards for helping out. Thanks to his camp experiences Hunter’s self-confidence, sense of responsibility and leadership skills have grown. If he sees a kid being picked on at school, he’ll stand up for them in a respectful way. At home he even does his chores with fewer reminders. At the end of this summer he told me, ‘you know I’m going to be a counselor one day.’ I’m so thankful that Y camp has inspired his passion for helping others.” -Jennifer, Mother SEND A KID TO CAMP At the Y we believe that everyone should have the chance to learn, grow and thrive; and, at camp, that is just what kids do. “I trust the Y to care for my three daughters while I work. My 2 year old, Alessandra, has caring teachers in the Early Education Center and Mikaela, who is 7, graduated from the Y’s Preschool program well prepared for Kindergarten. Mikaela and my 11 year old, Crystel, have such fun making friends, playing and learning at the Y’s exciting camps all summer long. Crystel has special needs and uses a walker. At Y Camp, the counselors pay attention to important details like holding the door, helping her in and out of chairs and lowering the paper towel dispenser so Crystel can interact independently and play just like every other child. The Y is a special place. My girls love it here, and I’ve seen their personalities and confidence blossom. The financial assistance we receive from the Y helps reduce the cost of camp. I hope other parents in need know that the Y is a great option for their children because everyone is welcome here.” ~ Yanina, Mother PLEASE GIVE: Consider making a donation to our Annual Campaign to help send a child to camp.
