SET 2 RESET MODE Data Range: Steps: 00000~99999. Distance: 0 ~ 999.99 Distance: Miles or Km. Stride length: 12 inch ~ 60 inch; 30 cm~150 cm. Default stride length: 30 inch; 80cm. % of goal: 0%-999%, minimum increment: 1% Step goal: 100~99900. Distance goal: 0.01~ 99.99. Note: If the goal value is set as zero, then no % goal data will be calculated and shown. TO START YOUR EXERCISE Press the RESET button for 1 second. All readings (Steps and Distance) will be reset to zero. When you begin exercising and the pedometer moves up and down, the unit will keep track of your steps and distance. TO REVIEW YOUR EXERCISE DATA Please remember that your pedometer calculates BOTH steps and distance. Hit the MODE button to review the information in the mode not currently displayed on your screen. Note: You cannot change your goal once you have started your exercise program. INPUT YOUR STRIDE LENGTH (range: 12 inches to 60 inches or 30cm to 150cm) TO SET UP YOUR PEDOMETER 1) Decide first whether you want your pedometer's Distance Mode to calculate in Miles or Kilometers. 2) Determine if the Distance Mode is currently set to MILE or KM by hitting the MODE button. If already set to your desired measurement, please skip to "Input your Stride Length". 3) If you need to change from MILE to KM or vice versa, hit the RESET key while in Distance Mode Hold for 5 seconds until the display changes to either MILE or KM. Please note that performing this step will reset all your readings to zero and return your stride length to the factory settings. 4) To change the measurement system that is currently in use. (Imperial and Metric systems are available). Please note: Before using your pedometer, remove battery insulation strip. (Insulation strip designed to preserve battery power) CAUTION - Battery Safety Information • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged • Rechargeable batteries must be removed before recharging • Rechargeable batteries only to be recharged under adult supervision • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries • Do not mix old and new batteries • Exhausted batteries to be removed • Do not dispose of battery in fire; battery may explode or leak • Do not dispose of product in fire; battery may explode or leak 11 BUTTONS ON YOUR PEDOMETER MODE - Pushing the MODE button allows you to choose between Step Mode or Distance Mode. SET - Pushing the SET button allows you to enter your personal stride length information and your goal. RESET - has four functions: 1) To scroll up while setting your stride length information. 2) To reset the Step Mode and Distance Mode calculations back to zero. 3) To scroll up while setting your goals DISPLAY OPTIONS AVAILABLE This pedometer can measure and calculate in Step Mode and Distance Mode. Step Mode: Shows you how many steps you have taken (0 to 99999 steps). Distance Mode: Shows the distance you have walked in either Miles or Kilometers (0.00 – 999.99 MILE or 0.00 – 999.99 KM). This pedometer also allows you to input your goal in either step mode or distance mode. TO OPERATE YOUR NEW PEDOMETER 1) Remove the plastic film from the LCD display on the front of the pedometer. 2) Slowly pull the battery protector out from the battery door located on the back to activate your pedometer. OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION 1. Treat your pedometer with care. 2. Pedometer is NOT waterproof. 3. This pedometer is designed to remain on continuously. 4. Battery life is approximately 1 year. TO REPLACE BATTERY 1. Unscrew the battery door at the back. 2. Replace with one button cell LR1130, AG10 or equivalent battery. 3. Ensure that the “+” side is in upper (visible) position. 4. Screw the battery door back into place. Note: You will need to input your stride length and goal into the pedometer when you change the battery. 1) Clip the unit to your belt or to the top of your shorts, trousers, or slacks as close as possible to the crease line. 2) The pedometer must always be horizontal so it is level with the ground. Do not attach at an angle or sideways as false readings will occur. See Illustration below for reference. NOTE: You can only use the goal setting feature in one mode at a time. If step goal is to be used, then the registered steps count must be reset to zero prior to setting up feature function for step goal. If not reset, there will be a constant discrepancy of the percent completed calculation. If you use the distance goal function, then the previous step goal setting will be cleared out. STEP GOAL SETTING MODE DISTANCE GOAL SETTING MODE Note: Default values are 30 inches/80 cm. If your stride is less than this, keep pressing until pedometer goes past maximum (60 inches/150cm) and registers 12 inches/30cm. Keep pressing RESET until you reach your desired stride length. SB4202IS01SPO 5) Press MODE button to reach the Distance Mode showing MILE or KM. 6) In Distance Mode, press the SET button and then the mode button. The display will show previous stride input in Inches or CM and start to flash. You will now have five seconds to start changing your stride length. If you do not adjust your stride length during these 5 seconds, you will have to start step 6 over again. 7) To change your stride length while the display is flashing, press the RESET button. Each press of the RESET button will increase the input by either 1 inch or 2 CM depending on which measurement system you are in. If you hold the RESET button, the numbers will increase continuously. Release when the display shows the Stride Length for you. 8) Once you have entered your stride length properly, wait 5 seconds the display will flash and the display will return to Distance Mode. Important: Please remember that the length of your stride while walking is different than the length of your stride while running. If you plan to use this pedometer for both types of exercise, you will have to reprogram your stride length when you go from one to the other. 3) Divide by the distance covered to arrive at your Stride Length. 4) Example: measured distance 360 inches, number of steps taken was 10 = 36 inches stride length. The center digit will be flashing (the minimum goal setting for steps is 100). 3) Press the RESET button to increment to digits by 1. Holding the RESET button down will increase the digit continuously. Release it when you reach the number you want to set that digit at. 4) Press the SET button again to set the next digit (2nd from the left). 5) When the digit starts to flash, press the RESET button as in step #3 above to set that digit. 6) Repeat steps 4 and 5 above to set the first digit on the left to complete the setting of your Step Goal. 7) To exit the Step Goal Setting Mode Press Mode button to exit the step goal setting mode immediately. After five seconds, the display will return to the Step mode and exit the step goal setting mode. Example of Calculation of % Step Goal Suppose your Step Goal is 200. • 1% step goal increment needs 2 step [=200/100] counts. • 2% step goal increment needs 4 step [=2x (200/100)] counts. • If you have walked 1 step, which is less than that required for 1% step goal increment (2 steps), 0% will be shown as the % of goal. Note: You cannot change your goal once you have started your exercise program. If you wish to change it, you must reset your steps to 0 in the step mode and then change your goal in order for the new goal to register. Setting Your Goal From Distance Mode 1) Press the MODE button until you see miles and KM displayed on your pedometer. 2) Press SET until ‘goal’ appears on the LCD display. 3) Press SET again to enter the goal setting mode. Press RESET to increment the first digit on the right by 1. Holding the RESET button down will increase the digit continuously. Release it when you reach the number you want to set that digit at. 4) Press the SET button again to get to the next digit to set. 5) Press RESET as in Step #3 above to get to the number you want to set that digit at. 6) Repeat Steps 3 and 4 twice more to complete setting all the digits for your Distance Goal. 7) To exit the Distance Goal Setting Mode - Press Mode button to exit the Distance Goal setting mode immediately - After five seconds, the display will return to the Distance Mode and exit the Distance Goal setting mode. #4202 Step and Distance Pedometer 1
