Poron® XRD foam
• Is flexible under normal conditions,
upon sudden high impact the Poron®
XRD foam instantly firms creating
a protective shield that takes the
absorption of the strike, yet remains
comfortable and non-restrictive as it
returns to its ‘resting’ state
• Features foam molecules that will
not break down on impact or over
a period of time, therefore the wearer
has maximum protection on every hit
• Is flexible: it will contour to the
correct shape and provide flexibility in
movement adding to wearer comfort
• Is thin: therefore reducing the bulk of
the protective shield
• Is lightweight: the protective plate is
very light and does not add very much
to the overall weight of the safety boot

The Arco Metguard Boot has been designed to provide
dependable protection offering consistent, repeated impact
absorption to the metatarsal area whilst also providing the
wearer with great flexibility and comfort while maintaining the
look of a traditional work boot.

Metatarsal protection
Arco’s core purpose is to keep people safe at
work and as the UK’s leading safety company,
we regularly undertake considerable research and
seek feedback from our customers. During research
into safety footwear our customers told us that they
found existing boots offering metatarsal protection
really uncomfortable to wear. They found the boots
to be heavy and bulky, adding to wearer fatigue,
also the protective plate restricted flexibility and
movement of the foot, riding up and rubbing against
the top of the foot creating extra discomfort.
Under impact the resulting forces are distributed
over the whole of the boot, absorbing the shock
and keeping your metatarsal protected.
The boot has been fully tested to all relevant
current standards and legislation and conforms to:

a safety boot

We worked with one of our larger customers to
understand further the issues around metatarsal
protection and to develop footwear that would
provide the necessary solution, the boots needed
to offer both protection and great comfort.
After a rigorous research and development
programme, we have introduced the revolutionary
material Poron® XRD impact protection foam into a
boot. An innovative shield made from Poron® XRD
is manufactured into the tongue of the boot.
