Silent Auction Rules
1. The Silent Auction will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 and will close at approximately
6:30 pm, 6:45 pm. Each closing bid will be certified by an Auction Official and constitutes the winning bid. Serious
bidders should stand next to auction bid sheet until Auction Official picks up bid sheet. Not all bid
sheets are picked up at the EXACT closing time.
2. All items and services have been donated to the Fullerton Technology Foundation (FTF) and are sold by FTF and not
the donor*. Purchasers may not ask for refunds or exchanges from the donor. Auction coordinators are not
responsible for lost merchandise or certificates. Lost merchandise or certificates will not be replaced.
3. All purchases are final. NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS.
4. All Silent Auction items and services must be used within the time limits specifically stated in the catalog and are
subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the donors. Please note that all accommodations are subject to
availability. Exact dates and detailed conditions of stays in hotels must be arranged in advance by the purchaser with
the donor, keeping in mind that all black-out periods stated in the catalog and on certificates will apply. All noted
restrictions and expiration dates apply. Expiration dates cannot be extended. The further in advance you make
reservations, the more likely you are to getting your first choice of date. When reservation a travel package, be sure
to ‘hold’ the reservations before actually booking. Some reservations, once booked, cannot be changed.
5. FTF assumes no responsibility should any of these establishments be unable to fulfill your certificate.
6. In the event of a contested item, the last two individuals appearing on the bid sheet will participate in a sealed “bid
off.” This will be in written form. The decision of the Auction Official in this procedure will be final.
7. All gifts in the Silent Auction have bid sheets affixed nearby. Persons bidding must include their name, bid number,
table number, phone number and bid amount on the sheet. Incorrect bid raises will be changed by the Auction
Officials.
8. Winners will be notified at their tables during the evening. Items purchased must be removed the evening of the
event. Payments must be made at the time and may be made by cash, check (made payable to FTF) Visa,
MasterCard, or American Express.
9. Please note minimum bids and increases in bid amounts for each item. Bids will be honored only if incremental
bidding is in accordance with the minimum increases. Bids below opening minimum bids will be changed to the
proper increase.
10. The Auction Coordinators have endeavored to catalog and describe the Auction items correctly, but all items are sold
“as is” and the Auction Coordinators neither warrant nor represent and in no way are responsible for the correctness
of description, or genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition to represent cash value and, once given to the
purchaser will not be replaced (if lost or otherwise). No statement contained in the Catalog or made orally at the
Auction or elsewhere shall be deemed to such a warranty representation or assumption of liability.
11. Certificates are the same as cash and cannot be replaced by the Auction if lost or stolen. These trips are only
suggested, should you wish to extend you stays you must coordinate with the donor directly, at your expense.
AUCTION COORDINATORS DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS.
12. Neither FTF, nor Knock Out Productions shall be liable to winners for any failure, delay, cancellation, interruption or
changes to any provision of services, events or travel packages purchased which is occasioned by causes beyond our
control including, but not restricted to fires, earthquakes, floods or other inclement weather, war, civil commotion or
disturbances, strikes, lockouts, labor disputes, accidents, epidemic, interruptions in or delays of transportation
services, electrical or power failures or outages, failures or delays in obtaining delivery from donors or manufacturers,
suspension or non-renewal of the venue’s license for any reasons whatsoever, or any act ruling, regulation or law of
any government bureau or agency or public authority. Delays so caused shall not release winners from their
obligations to accept and pay for the items purchased.
13. Items/certificates purchased at this auction cannot be sold on any internet auction or at any other event.
Items/certificates purchased at this event are intended for use by the person who buys them.
14. Certificates/merchandise cannot be exchanged or refunded. Items/certificates are sold as is. There is no cash value
for certificates or merchandise.

All travel must be completed within one year of date of booking/issue. Latest possible travel date is
December 21, 2016. Tickets are not for resale or cash redemption. Name/date changes are not permitted after
issuance of tickets. Passengers are responsible to pay taxes for the tickets (Approximately $100 per person). Lost
Tickets well not be reissued. Winner will not be refunded for lost tickets.

5. Grits Fullerton
Dinner Party for Six with Wine and Beer
Enjoy a dinner party for up to six guests paired with wine and beer
specially prepared for you by Chef Cody Storts of Grits in
downtown Fullerton. Reservations are required and subject to a
mutually agreeable date. Dinner parties are to be arranged on
nights that Grits is not doing a dinner service unless other
accommodations can be made with Chef.
If you’ve not heard the name Cody Storts being whispered in
certain epicurean circles, it’s only because he’s been keeping stealth, building his empire slowly from the
ground up. After employment as a bartender at Stubrik’s and various restaurant management positions
around town, this long-time Fullerton resident came to the realization that front of the house just wasn’t his
mission in life.
Polishing his acumen and techniques at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Los Angeles, Chef Cody has since
been making great strides and flourishes as somewhat of a kitchen Ninja. Mounting a campaign to push the
boundaries, he scoffs at the challenge of utilizing exotic ingredients or executing unorthodox pairings. His
high-kicking conventions, limitless energy and passionate drive enabled him to concurrently head the culinary
teams at The Lime Truck, Lamron Catering, Bourbon Street, Nieuport 17 and Hopscotch.
With a personal mantra that “there are no rules” when it comes to inventiveness and creativity, Cody has
finally achieved his dream of owning a spot of his own. Grits Fullerton is brought to life off the beaten
Downtown Fullerton path and offers a home-style southern inspired brunch. Here he stays true to the “no

Pahlmeyer, in St. Helena, was founded in the mid-1980s when Jayson Pahlmeyer, a Bay Area lawyer, found he
preferred thinking about wine to reading legal briefs. Pahlmeyer produced its debut vintage in 1986, and
Robert M. Parker Jr. gave it 94 pts. Today the winery owns 88 acres near Atlas Peak and 30 acres on the north
Sonoma Coast and grows Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Randy Dunn
was in charge of winemaking for the first few vintages and in 1993 Helen Turley became Pahlmeyer’s
winemaker. Today the winemakers are Kale Anderson at the Napa Valley vineyards and Bibiana Gonzalez Rave
is the consulting winemaker for the Sonoma Coast vineyards. Pahlmeyer is known for its Bordeaux-style

Founded in 1995, Lokoya is another relatively new Napa Valley winery dedicated to the idea of making highlylimited production, prestigious Cabernet Sauvignons. Lokoya owns several vineyards in Napa Valley and also
purchases grapes to make single vineyard or single appellation wines. The Cabernet Sauvignons produced by
Lokoya are generally admired by reviewers and are usually available only by mailing list. The winery’s
vineyards are in Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Spring Mountain. Most of the
acreage is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, though small amounts of Chardonnay and Merlot also are grown.
Annual production is about 2,200 cases.

Snowden is east of the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley. The 24-acre estate has been the site of vineyards since
the late 19th century and in 1955 it was purchased by Wayne and Virginia Snowden, who grew grapes for local
wine producers. In 1981 the couple’s sons, Scott and Randy Snowden, took over the estate and replanted
many vineyards. During the 1980s all the grapes went to Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. In 1993 the brothers started
producing their own wine under the family name while continuing to sell some of their grapes to local
wineries. Today Snowden makes limited amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Petit

Another fabulous Cab from this supernatural vintage. It stuns for the ripeness of the blackcurrant, cherry and
chocolate fruit, and the richness of the soft, sweet tannins. So easy to drink, yet never loses its sense of
balance, harmony and complexity.
Silverado Vineyards is in Yountville, in Napa Valley. It was founded in 1981 when Diane and Ron Miller
purchased the property. Their inaugural releases were 1981 Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blancs and Cabernet
Sauvignon. Today the estate owns 345 acres and makes a portfolio of wines, including Merlot and Sangiovese.
Flagship wines remain the reserve Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays.

likely the result of the long, cool growing season. The balance of fruit, acidity and tannin is first-class. Nothing

2021 2011 Aubert Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay

The 2011 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is utterly magnificent. I especially like the way the 2011 is at once
unbelievably rich, but not at all heavy. Yellow stone fruit, light floral honey, nectarine and almonds inform the
rich, oily finish. The 100% new barrels are imperceptible. All the elements are beautifully in place in this
harmonious, voluptuous Chardonnay. This is a great, great showing from Mark Aubert.
Aubert Wines produces what many consider California’s first “cult Chardonnay.” Mark Aubert is the owner
and operator of the Calistoga-based winery, and his single-vineyard Chardonnays are regularly compared to
Grand Cru Burgundies. Aubert, who grew up in Napa Valley and worked as the winemaker for Peter Michael
and Colgin, bought seven acres of Chardonnay vineyards in the Sonoma Coast AVA in 2000. Since then he has
also planted Pinot Noir in western Sonoma County. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “it is hard to find
better Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs than those created by Mark Aubert under his Aubert label.” Production is
extremely limited and the Aubert wines are generally available only through the winery’s mailing list.
2022 2003 Cain Five Napa Valley
The Cain Five is very round, smooth, and full-bodied. It is quite drinkable today, but it will develop in the next
couple of years, and it is sure to last 15 or more years. Although the first notes are of mocha and vanilla, a very
pure cassis is hiding in the background (which bodes well), and the full, sweet entry fills out to a satisfying midpalate, leading to a long, smooth finish.
2023 2000 Niebaum-Coppola Rubicon Inglenook Estate
Beautifully crafted, rich, vibrant and deftly balanced. Wonderful currant, blackberry, anise, sage, mineral and
fresh earth provide layers of complexity and concentration. Finishes with just the right amount of tannin to
give it a solid backbone.
2024 2005 Revana Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep plum/purple in color with a sweet nose of burning embers, charcoal, black currants, and some subtle
smoked herbs, the wine again displays terrific aromatic complexity and a full-bodied, nicely layered palate
impression, with integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol, and wood. It is a slightly deeper, richer wine than the
2004, and the tannins seem slightly more elevated, but this wine has great balance, and just needs 1-2 years
of bottle age. It should actually eclipse the 2004 in 3-4 years.
2025 2002 Hestan Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Hestan’s 2002 is a 275-case cuvee of very impressive Cabernet Sauvignon. This dense, opaque blue/purplecolored offering’s smoky, graphite, black currant, and berry-scented nose is gently infused with notions of
toast and spice box. Full-bodied, opulent, pure, and expansive, this layered wine exhibits a seamless
integration of wood, acid, and tannin.
2026 1998 Robert Mondavi Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Soft and succulent blackberry and cassis fruit upfront, framed by squeaky clean tannins and solid oak
elements. This is most notable for its voluptuous, velvety texture, which coats the palate with sweet flavors.
It’s not a big wine but a balanced, harmonious one, and a success for the vintage.
2027 2008 Linked Vineyards Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This is a very expensive Cabernet, but it also tastes dramatic and powerful. The chocolate, blackberry, currant
and oak flavors are massive, while the tannin-acid structure is just about perfect. Feels as lush as California
Cab gets, but never loses integrity or balance. Should age well for the next 10 years.

The Modicum label is the “house wine” for the world famous French Laundry Restaurant located in Napa
Valley, California. These bottling are a collaborative project between Chef Thomas Keller and Master
Sommelier, Paul Roberts. The meaning of modicum is “a small amount of something unique.” To the
winemaker, Modicum represents a small amount of the very best fruit that they can locate.
The 2007 Napa Valley Red Wine from St. Helena is a blend of three organic vineyards in the St. Helena AVA,
which are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The unique terroir of each site is
apparent in the complexity of this blend. The backbone of the blend is from a rocky, high elevation parcel east
of the city of St. Helena. Two vineyards in the western hills of the appellation complete the blend: one parcel
is north of the St. Helena city limits planted in dusty red soil, and the other is nestled against the base of Spring
Mountain along an alluvial plain filled with decomposed river rocks. Less than 200 cases of the 2007 St.
Helena Red Wine were produced, making it one of the rarest Napa Valley wines of any vintage.

The two cuvees from the Alder Springs Vineyard include the 2006 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard, which is 100%
Syrah with 75% whole clusters utilized. It is a generous style of wine, with loads of fruit that expresses the
character of the vintage in its front-end loaded ripeness and headiness. Big, sweet fig, tobacco leaf,
blackberry, and cassis notes with some spice and earth are all present in this beautifully rich wine. Exciting
wines seem to emerge annually from Pax Mahle, a self-trained winemaker (and all the better for it), and
owner Joe Donelan.

Switchback Ridge is in Calistoga. The 100-acre property near Dutch Henry Canyon has been in the Peterson
Family since the early 20th century, though for much of that time it was primarily a farm and plum orchard.
That changed in 1990 when the orchards were replanted to vineyards. Today there are nearly 18 acres planted
to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Syrah. The estate is owned and operated by John and Joyce
Peterson, and the winemaker is Robert Foley, who is well-known in Napa Valley for he has made wine for
Pride Mountain Vineyards as well as his own label. Switchback is known for its Cabs and Merlots, and the

displaying notions of black fruits, cappuccino, and wood smoke along with loads of power and richness. Less
delineated (of course, it’s one year younger) than the 2001, with sweeter tannin as well as higher alcohol, it
unquestionably has outstanding potential.

Like other family-founded wineries in Napa Valley, Grace Family Vineyards started small, more a dream than a
business. It was 1976 and San Francisco stockbroker Richard Grace and his wife bought an old home in St.
Helena to raise their family in the country. The couple planted a one-acre vineyard and two years later
harvested their first real crop, which they sold to Caymus Vineyard. The Grace family’s grapes were used by
Caymus until 1983, when the Grace Family started making their own wine. These days the Graces cultivate a
number of vineyards, though production remains highly limited. Only Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown,
and Grace Family wines are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are prized for their opulence and rich
flavors. They are generally available only through a mailing list. Annual production is 200 cases.

Massive, decadent. Opens with extraordinary aromas of cedar, black currants, cherries, chocolate, sage,
pepper and anise, with hints of roasted game. Feels very round, smooth but powerful. Almost sweet in red
and black currants and chocolate. So refined, absolutely delicious. Beautiful, lush, complex, soft.
Founded in 1984 in the western hills of Oakville, Napa Valley, Harlan Estate is one of the fabled “Cult Cabs”
that came of age in the 1990s. Along with such Cult Cabs as Screaming Eagle, Abreu, Araujo and Colgin, Harlan
helped set the bar for extremely rich, complex and hard to acquire California Cabs. Harlan Estate founder
William Harlan has said that part of his mission in founding the winery was “to create a first growth of
California.” Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that Harlan wines possess “all the elements of greatness –
individuality, power combined with elegance, extraordinary complexity, remarkable aging potential and

Phelps is best known for Insignia, its flagship Napa Valley blend of red Bordeaux varieties first produced in
1974. Awarded Wine Spectator’s “Wine of the Year” in 2005, Insignia is widely regarded as a qualitative
benchmark for California winemaking. Besides Cabernet Sauvignon and small amounts of Petit Verdot, Merlot
and Malbec, Phelps also grows Chardonnay, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Scheurebe. The estate

A heady, complex bouquet evokes black raspberry and boysenberry preserves, smoky Indian spices and cola.
Occidental is a Pinot Noir brand established by the celebrated winemaker Steve Kistler, founder and
winemaker at Kistler Vineyards. Occidental plans to make a maximum of 7,500 cases annually of Sonoma
Coast Pinot Noir. To do that Occidental in 2013 completed a state-of-the-art production facility near Bodega
next to the Bodega Headlands Vineyard. Kistler, long admired for his Kistler label Pinot Noir and Chardonnay,
has earned extraordinary reviews for his Occidental wines. Robert M. Parker Jr. rated one of the 2012 cuvees
at 98 pts and called it “profound….this wine reminded me of my earlier days in Burgundy tasting the Grand Cru

2043 2001 Martinelli Jackass Vineyard Zinfandel
California’s most expensive as well as famous Zinfandel, Martinelli’s 2001 Zinfandel Jackass Hill Vineyard
(15.8% alcohol) is produced from a 3-acre parcel planted on a 45 degree slope. Its dark garnet color is
accompanied by gorgeous aromas of melons, black cherry liqueur, raspberries, and plums. Full-bodied, with a
seamless integration of acidity, tannin, and alcohol as well as a 45-second finish, this beauty is one of the
vintage’s top successes.
2044 2009 Pisoni Estate Vineyards Pinot Noir
The 2009 Pinot Noir Pisoni is a big wine with powerful tannins that frame a core of dark, black fruit. Today it is
the structural elements that dominate the wine’s balance, but this could merit a higher score if the fruit begins
to emerge. My sense is that the new oak (65%) may be a bit on the high side. The Pisoni was made from four
separate blocks and vinified with 20% whole clusters.
2045 2012 Kosta Browne Koplen Vineyard Pinot Noir
Edgy, vibrant feel with its plum and sweet black cherry fruits, charred spices and licorice giving way to hints of
spring flowers and mint. Layered, beautifully pure and defined, with bight, yet integrated acidity.
Kosta Browne Winery, in Sebastopol, California, was founded in 1997 when Dan Kosta and Michael Browne
pooled their money to buy a half ton of Pinot Noir grapes and a used barrel and grape crusher. The men had
been colleagues at a Santa Rosa restaurant, but dreamt of making their own wine. In 2001 they teamed up
with Chris Costello, who provided the winemaking pair with a business plan and operational support. Today
the three partners still run Kosta Browne, which does not have its own vineyards but sources grapes from the
Russian River, Sonoma Coast and Santa Lucia Highlands regions. Kosta Browne makes only Pinot Noir, and has
in little more than a decade developed a strong following for its wines, which are generally single vineyard
bottling. Most Kosta Browne wines are sold through their mailing list.

Hourglass is a Napa Valley winery with vineyards in St. Helena and Calistoga. It is owned and operated by Jeff
Smith and his wife Carolyn. The Hourglass debut release was in 1997. With additional investors they
purchased more property in 2006 and built a state-of-the-art winery. Bob Foley is the winemaker and the
estate grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The estate’s flagship wine
is Cabernet Sauvignon. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that the Hourglass wines are “frequently brilliant.”

flavors of cassis, blueberry, menthol and graphite. Suave, energetic wine with easygoing tannins and a hint of
youthful bitterness that's nicely supported by the wine's texture and sweetness.

Maybach Family Vineyards in Oakville is named after the family’s early 20th-century patriarch, Wilhelm
Maybach, a German inventor who designed and built the first Mercedes automobiles. Now some of his
descendants are making a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from a hillside vineyard above the Silverado
Trail. Called Materium, the 100% Cab has earned praise from Robert M. Parker Jr., among others, who calls it
“serious wine.” Fewer than 500 cases are produced annually. Thomas Rivers Brown is the winemaker.
Maybach is also making Sonoma Coast Chardonnay with a Burgundian style. About 60 cases are produced
each year.

The 2006 Syrah Hudson Vineyard jumps out of the glass with its notes of scorched earth, beef blood,
blackberries, black olives, spring flowers, coffee, and roasted meats. Incredibly textured, rich, full-bodied, and
long, this beauty must be tasted to be believed. It should evolve for 15 or more years, although few
purchasers will be able to defer their gratification.

Delicious from the first sip, this is a bold, ripe, richly flavored wine, with a flash of toasty oak preceding a fleshy

Saxum Vineyards is located in the Paso Robles AVA of Central California. Founded in the early 2000s by Justin
Smith, a young winemaker who had previously been part-owner of Linne Calodo, Saxum leapt into the
limelight in late 2010 when its 2007 James Berry Vineyards wine was named the #1 Wine of 2010 by Wine
Spectator. The wine is a Rhone style blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. Like most of the so-called
Central California Coast “Rhone Rangers,” Saxum specializes in Rhone Valley style blends. The intense
sunshine and relatively steep and rocky terrain of the Paso Robles AVA, which was officially recognized in
1983, is similar to the terrain of the Rhone Valley. Smith owns the winery with his wife Heather, and produces
up to 2,800 cases of wine a year. There are currently five cuvees.

The seductive, soft 2006 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard does not reveal the complexity of the two previous 2005s.
It offers plenty of red and black fruits intermixed with earth and spice.

Blended with 6 percent Merlot. Aged 26 months in French, other European and American barrels to soften

2062 1998 Dalla Valle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The spectacular, full-bodied 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon (2,000 cases from a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon
and 12% Cabernet Franc) possesses great character, richness, and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice,
tobacco, and smoke. While not as opulent as some vintages, it is exceptionally concentrated, long, and
reminiscent of a ripe Bordeaux from a top vintage.
2063 1991 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
It is a huge, rich, powerful wine with great depth, as well as a boat-load of tannin.
Randy Dunn began making wine while studying oenology at the University of California at Davis, and he never
stopped. Dunn worked for years at Caymus and in 1978 he and his wife purchased a vineyard on Howell
Mountain in Napa Valley. In 1979 the couple started their winery and released their first Cabernet Sauvignon
in 1981. Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is recognized as one of the most consistent,
massive and well-made wines in Napa Valley. The vineyards are in the Howell Mountain district which, at
2,000 feet above sea level, gets more sun and less fog than vineyards on the valley floor. Rich volcanic soil is
part of the terroir. Dunn’s vineyards are planted entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and the oldest

2064 2007 Sine Qua Non “To The Rescue” Grenache Vin de Paille - 375ml Half-bottle
The 2007 "To the Rescue" Grenache Vin de Paille appears to be a much improved version of the 2005
Grenache Vin de Paille I tasted last year. It possesses 295 grams of residual sugar per liter as well as
remarkable acidity, sweetness, and richness, an inky/purple color, and classic aromas of cassis. In spite of its
weight, intensity, and unctuosity, the wine is surprisingly delicate and nuanced on the palate.
Founded in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl in Ventura, on California's Central Coast, the winery is the
epitome of an artisanal, cult winery. The husband-and-wife team makes mostly Rhone-style reds and whites in
very limited quantities using such grapes as Syrah, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Roussane, and Viognier. The couple

exhibits abundant aromas of orange marmalade, rose petals, honeysuckle, brown sugar, and spice. It looks like
10W40 motor oil, but its ample acidity provides uplift and vibrancy to its enormously endowed, sweet

Roca Patron Silver - While a 5% increase in ABV over the traditional Patron Silver might not seem like a lot, in
the spirits world it's considerable. From the nose on the Roca Silver, you'd never guess that it's a high proof
tequila as it's actually considerably less "in your face" than the traditional Patron Silver. One of the things that
makes the traditional Patron Silver so distinct is its nose, which showcases rich cooked agave, distinct citrus,
and strong white pepper. Roca Patron Silver is absent of many of these signature aromas. Roca Patron Silver
is primarily a showcase for agave, with both fresh and cooked agave with a slight earthy undertone. There's a
light pepper but it's a lot softer and lighter than traditional silver. Patron's signature citrus isn't there on the
nose, which is overall lighter and more delicate.
Roca Patron Anejo - Of all the Roca releases, the Anejo is perhaps the closest cousin to Patron's Gran Piedra
release, although Roca Anejo was aged for only 14 months (versus 3 years for Piedra) and only in ex-bourbon
barrels (Piedra added French oak to the mix). With Roca Anejo the time in barrel is clear with oak spice as one
of the leading top notes in the nose. Other barrel notes including caramel, vanilla, and a touch of cinnamon
are here on the nose and they are well integrated with the fresh and roasted agave notes which are a
signature part of the Roca line. There's a touch of pepper spice in the mix, but it's the oak that's much more
dominant.

2005 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (92 Pts Robert Parker) - Dark and powerful in the glass
with great density and saturation, this wine grabs your attention from the first glance. Luscious and rich on
the nose with great depth, we find top notes of violets, cassis, and rich dark cherry, all riding over a base of
warm leather, cocoa, wet stone and molasses. The palate opens with red raspberry and blackcurrants before
building to mouth-filling rip cherry, a beautiful acid balance, and round rich velvety tannins. The incredible
intensity of the palate fades slowly leaving a finish of dried fruits and hints of clove with remarkable weight
and tremendous persistence.

conditions of the three previous vintages, growers and winemakers kept waiting for the 'other shoe to drop.'
In the end, the other shoe was a picture perfect, classic Napa Valley vintage. This is a California Wine.
