LUNCHEON AND FASHION SHOW LOGO DESIGN BY LYNN TOWNSEND DEALEY President’s Message It is my honor to serve as the 2016 Board President of a dynamic nonprofit organization focused on raising hope by supporting efforts to prevent and treat kidney disease. In Texas, there are over 30,000 people on dialysis and 4,000 on a transplant list. The number of patients on dialysis is anticipated to double this decade. It is unimaginable to consider that every year kidney diseases kill more people than breast or prostate cancer. KidneyTexas has been instrumental in raising and distributing over 3.1 million dollars to local hospitals to help fund research, treatment, and supportive care but we can and must do more. This year we have set fundraising goals that challenge and stretch us to achieve the following outcomes: • Enhance care and treatment services for 3,800 adults and children by supporting expansion of the Dialysis Unit at Parkland Hospital. • Purchase two hemodialysis units for Texas Health Resources to support treatment services for 300 patients annually. • Ensure 1,900 children with urologic conditions receive excellent medical and follow-up care by supporting the Pediatric Stone Center at Children’s Medical Center. • Improve patient comfort by providing 3 warming cabinets and 1 mobile stand for table top warming cabinets to help regulate dialysis patient temperatures during dialysis treatment at Dallas Methodist Hospital. • Increase knowledge-base to promote prevention and identify new treatment strategies by supporting research of living kidney donors at Baylor Medical Center. • Sponsor 90 children in North Texas to attend Camp Reynal. The 2016 Calendar of Events provides various opportunities for you to learn more about the impact of our work in North Texas and the many lives that are being changed. You will want to visit our website at www. kidneytexas.org throughout the year to see photos of all those making a difference as well as event updates. The Runway Report Luncheon and Fashion Show, hosted at the elegant Brook Hollow Golf Club is set for Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Together we will have a stronger impact, save more lives, and make progress to prevent and treat kidney disease.
