AQUATIC SAFETY TRAINING FOR PRESCHOOL AND
SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN
(For groups only) Drowning is the second leading cause of
accidental death among children in the U.S. This program
teaches children skills to survive an aquatic emergency,
perform non-swimming rescues and prevent accidents. The
course includes classroom work and optional in-the-water
practice. For your convenience, instructors will come to
your site to conduct the classroom portions. We'll also
customize a program to meet your specific needs. Contact
the Aquatic Director to schedule your groups training.
GENERAL WATER SAFETY PROGRAM TRAINING FOR
DAY CARE STAFF
PA Child Care regulations require a water safety
presentation for staff assigned to supervise children when
they are using an aquatic resource. The resource may be
a pool sitting on the lawn in the yard of the child-care
facility, an above ground pool or in ground pool, a public
pool such as a Y or community pool or a lake, river, or
stream. This water safety presentation must be presented
each year for qualifying staff. Each participant completing
the program will receive a participation card indicating the
completion of the program for 2015. The completion card
is valid when supervising for any PA child care facility. Call
to set up a training session for your staff.

GROUP EXERCISE
The Greater Pittston YMCA understands that
people are, at heart, social animals who often
fall short of health and wellness goals when
forced to go it alone. We are motivated,
challenged, and inspired to do our best when in
the presence of like-minded people seeking
similar goals and objectives. Sure, it is possible
to accomplish one’s wellness goals completely
on your own… but where’s the fun in that? The
YMCA believes in promoting “Healthy
Lifestyles” for its members and program
participants in a way that will help them attain
their fullest potential in spirit, mind and body…
and, for many, group exercise fulfills that
purpose. See our full schedule online, pick one
