Better than a thousand
days of diligent study is one
day with a great teacher.
-Japanese proverb
From its humble beginnings in 1973….
To 2008…
From its transition from a
community base…
…to a University Name.
From a floor…
...to a New Hospital…
…to an Even Newer Hospital
In its 35 years in Austin, our
pediatric residency program has
graduated over
300 General Pediatricians and
Pediatric Subspecialists.
Many of whom have chosen to stay
in or come back to the Austin
community.

We currently have 41 residents in our
program.
This July,
we will welcome 16 new interns.
Our faculty is growing as well.
Our faculty currently consists of 13
pediatric hospitalists, 4 general
pediatricians, 1 adolescent specialist and
1 developmental/behavioral pediatrician.
This fall, we will add 2 more pediatric
hospitalists and 1 more general
pediatrician.
And we couldn’t do it without our
teachers…
The most important part of education is proper training
in the nursery. Plato
But it is not just in the hospital…

My Ulterior Motive…
Resident Continuity Clinics
„
„
„
Our Continuity Clinic model is a community
based model.
Our residents enjoy the opportunity to learn
from actively practicing pediatricians within
the Austin community.
The experience allows our residents to
experience private pediatrics firsthand.
Precepting a Resident
„
„
„
One full month during the 1st year of
residency.
One half day per week during 1st year.
One half to one full day per week during the
2nd and 3rd years of residency.
The Benefits of Being a Preceptor
