May Newsletter - Carine Masters Swimming
Carine Masters Swimming NEWSLETTER Issue 1 for May 2011 Carine Masters Swimming Inc, established in 1977. The first Masters Swimming Club in WA Fitness, Friendship & Fun WELL DONE TO CARINE ON A GREAT 2011 MASTERS SWIMMING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! For a “small” club, Carine Masters certainly performed really well at the recent event considering we were competing against swimmers from all over Australia. To come in the top 10 is fantastic and to be in the top 20 is really very good given that many of the age groups had more than 30 swimmers competing. All members should be very proud of the achievements of our swimmers and in particular the medal winners. As you can see from the chart, we had 11 individual and 1 relay medal & the relay is a (provisional) State Record! Congratulations to Vanessa Holman CARINE’S RESULTS GOLD BRONZE SILVER with 6 medals; David Davies (2), Kay SWIMMER - EVENT 50 50 50 50 100 100 100 100 200 200 200 400 800 Cox (2), Wendy Chidgey, Carol-Ann Free Back Breas Fly Free Back Breas Fly Free Breas IM Free Free t t t Infante & Bev Byers all with 1 medal Vanessa Holman 4th 7th 1st 3rd 3rd 2nd 3rd each. At times you couldn’t see the desk because of the crowds milling around! David Laws & Kay Cox worked as officials and I put together a daily newsletter with the assistance of Jeff Morris (Osborne Park) who took many of the photos. Next to the Help Desk was the team from Osborne Park who were also well represented amongst the volunteers. Personally I think it was one of the best times I’ve ever had at an event, the mood of the venue was really upbeat and it made a great change from the goings on out in the “real” world. And to top off Vanessa’s great meet, she won the Vorgee Raffle taking home a nice bag of swimming goodies. If you weren’t involved this time, please make sure you don’t miss out next time. The 2012 Nationals are in Adelaide, not too far to travel. Think about it! Lynne, Wendy, Vanessa & Carol-Ann; the 4th placed medley relay team.
