The Folkbirds are multi-instrumentalists who showcase various combinations
of violin, viola, piano and voice in their performances. Their genuine passion
for music and life are unmissable, and the powerful energy they bring to the
stage has touched many people's hearts.

About Dasha
Dasha Wright, a Russian musician
born in the Far East and raised in
Siberia, studied violin in Moscow,
Russia and in Bremen, Germany.
She was a prize winner in the AllUral "Magical Bow" and all-Russian
L. & M. Rostropovitsch
competitions. Her orchestral
experience in Germany includes the
O l d e n b u r g S t a a t s t h e a t e r,
B r e m e r h a v e n S t a d t s t h e a t e r,
Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie
Bremen, Westdeutscherrundfunk
and Ensemble Modern. Over the
last ten years, Dasha also has been
a regular member of a the
Kammersinfonie Bremen, a
freelance chamber orchestra.
Not limited to classical music, she
performed in "Countertainer," a
show with Brazilian countertenor Edson Cordeiro and the Chamber Groove
Quartet, and went on acoustic tour as part of the Prima Streichquartett with
the German pop-rock band "Luxuslärm." Since 2010, Dasha has collaborated
regularly with Mark Scheibe, a pianist and a composer, as part of his Berlin
Revue Orchester and as a part of the project " Melodie des Lebens" with the
Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen that won Classical Echo in 2012.
Dasha has also collaborated with pop and soul singers such as Astrid North,
Doris Decker, Maria Schuster and participated in projects working with the
famous "Adoro" and "Flying Steps." Passionate about folk music since early
childhood, Dasha and her musical partner Cara Thompson founded
Folkbirds in the spring of 2014 and together perform their program Celtic
Fire.
About Cara
A musician of diverse talents, Cara
Thompson is a pianist, violinist and
soprano who has performed in the
classical, folk, pop and music
entertainment arenas. Praised by
critics for her brilliant and
compelling performances, she has
competed in both piano as well as
violin and her “lovely acoustic
sonority” and “thoughtful,
expressive” interpretation of
baroque and romantic works won
her first prize in the Washington
International Young Artists Piano
Competition, among other national
and international awards.
Her musical flexibility has lead to a
wide variety of collaborations
taking her from classical to celtic to
cabaret music. In 2010 she formed
Piano Duo 2-ché with Ute da Silva Robazza to present 4-hand piano works
combined with multimedia flair. In the following year, she co-produced
"Virgin to Vixen in One Night" - a two-woman cabaret-style show which
highlights love songs of all eras and takes its audiences on a musical journey
through a woman's change perspectives of love. Cara performs regularly in
the US and Germany in various freelance orchestras and chamber groups, is
an active recording artist and most recently has teamed up with Dasha
Wright to form Folkbirds, a hot Celtic, multi-instrumental duo presenting
original songs and a fresh take on traditional Irish and Scottish tunes.
