A Word from the
President
In keeping with the tradition of our organization there’s another great winter conference on the way! The talent we have lined up is fantastic. Of course, we will have
our annual Mr. & Mrs. Competition and the Little Mr. & Ms. Competitions along with
our finished Product Competition and I am especially excited about our first ever
State Print Judging to be held at the winter convention. New this year, in addition to
entering prints to be considered for trophies and awards at a nominal fee we will be
able to submit four additional prints for score only for a small additional charge.
What an advantage when we go to the HOA conference and print exhibition where
we can put the best four out of eight prints from our case in the regional judging!
Bob Hawkins
The reputation of our fine event has spread causing vendors to sign up early for the February seminar. Our
vendors always fare well because we support them so faithfully. I am proud of how our members do that
and participate in the other aspects of our organization’s events. From volunteering as door guards, registration assistance, print handlers, decorating, bartending and more, PP of Iowa people get involved–that’s
why we have such a strong organization.
I look forward to seeing all of you in February, so mark your calendars. We will have great education
throughout the week and on Saturday night we are having a pajama party including a Lip Sync segment
which is bound to be a hoot! I hope you will all join in. I have my favorite Ray Stevens song picked out and
the PJs are on order. (So you aren’t too afraid, I am not performing the streak and I WILL NOT be in baby
dolls.)
Pick out your favorite silly song, put your favorite pair of pajamas in your suitcase and pack up a print case
full of salon images and bring them to PP of Iowa Winter Seminar. It’s simply, the best education and the
most fun you can have for your money.

CPPNews
The CPPs are planning their annual Trip for
2007. At this time no destination has been
selected, but there are some of the places
we are researching. As members your
input is appreciated. If you have any information on any of these locations please
contact Christy so she can add to our
research file. We hope to have the destination decided by the end of the year.
The rates will be between $300-$500 per
person, this would include 2 meals per day
and your accomodations. We are trying to
keep with houses for accomodaitions, so
we can cut costs by cooking our
own meals.
Here are the destinations:
San Antiono, TX
St. Simon Island, GA (southern GA)
Charleston/Hilton Head, SC
Table of Lakes/Eureka, MO
Sanabel Island, FL
Galena, IL
Alabama Coast
So far the coastal states have been fairly
lucky with no major hurricanes affecting
any of these locations.
Passed the
Exam
We also wish congrats to Christina Kjar, for passing the CPP exam
and print competions. Way to go!!
Christina graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2003 with
a BA in Art with an emphasis in Photography, Graphic Design, and
Metals. She began her career at Knop Photography in August 2003
as a digital artist. In May of 2004, Knop Photography opened its second location in Storm
Lake, which Christina
now operates herself.
She has been competiting in print competitions for 2 years
and has received several merits, a Fuji
Masterpiece award,
and a first place in the
woman indoor category for Iowa in 2005.
If any of you are intrested in taking the CPP exam, please contact
Christy, or conatact PPA to get the ball rolling. Our orgainization is
one of the strongest groups in the mid-west, and we have a great
time sharing ideas, techniques at all our functions. Be watching for
the upcoming events for 2007!
Why Should You be a Certified
Professional Photographer
Certification is the most common, well-known and respected professional credential. Clients seek out credentialed professionals,
and people recognize certification as a sign that you are an authority in your field. So it makes sense for you to a be Certified
Professional Photographer to better market yourself to your clientele. Here are some specific ways certification can help you in
your business.
Get folks in the door. Before you can show a consumer your portfolio or sell them on your services, you have to get them into your
studio. With hundreds, sometimes thousands of photographers advertising in a market, this is not always an easy task. Advertising
as a Certified Professional Photographer is one way to distinguish yourself from the masses. Certification gives clients a concrete
business reason to put you on their short list. It's a third party validation of your expertise, and that speaks volumes to potential
clients about your skill.
Justify your prices. The digital era has made it much easier for inexperienced part-time and fly-by-night photographers to throw
their hat into the ring, undercutting professionals with rock bottom prices. Certification is an easy way to help consumers understand and appreciate your level of experience and talent.
Don't be afraid to explain to consumers how difficult it is to get this credential. You had to pass a very difficult written examination,
and a scrutinizing panel evaluated your work. Additionally, let them know you have to recertify every five years. This ensures that
Certified Professional Photographers are keeping their quality, skills and knowledge up-to-date. Ask potential clients how much
they really know about your competitor's work. If he turns out to be a bad photographer, a lot of time
and money will have been wasted. In the long run, it's often cheaper to choose someone they know is qualified.
It's a great tiebreaker. It would be nice if every customer who looked at your work was immediately convinced to hire you, but
that's not realistic. Consumers can be indecisive when all the photographers they've interviewed take beautiful shots, have similar
prices and seem like nice people. In many instances, certification can be a deal clincher. Most consumers aren't experts on photography, and they don't know how to select the most qualified photographer. So stack the deck in your favor by providing them
with an expert opinion on your knowledge and skills. As a Certified Professional Photographer, you have passed a written photography exam and a panel of experts have reviewed your images and judged you qualified. Can your competition say that?

About the
Cover
The image, "Vernanza by Moonlight", was
taken as Shari and I were enjoying the
beauties of the Cinque Terre region of the
Italian Riviera. The photograph was taken
at the exact right moment (half an hour
after we should have been eating supper
according to Shari!!). I was waiting for it to
get dark enough and had just about quit
when the moon came out brighter and
the moonbeams hit the water. I got
goose bumps, shot two 30 second exposures and knew I had a winner right on the
spot.
Digital secrets: I slightly liquefied the moon
to a fuller shape. I cleaned up a few stray
lights that were distracting. I extended
some of the cloud lines that were there
already as well as some of the waves. I
used Lucis filter in several subtle layers with
my goal being that the effect would not
be obvious. All in all, the vast majority of
the magic in this image was there on the
original file. Utilizing all the tools available
to us as photographic artists, I could
tweak this image all the way to perfection, a print score of 100 at PPA-Affiliated
(HOA) Competition and my 17th Loan
Collection image at the PPA International
Print Competition.

Iowa Photographers Earn
PPA Degrees
Lori Nordstrom received the PPA Masters Degree and Wes Siebe received the Craftsman this year at the Imaging USA
Awards Banquet. Congratulations to Lori and Wes!
Lori Nordstrom, Cr. Photographer opened a portrait studio in Winterset, Iowa in 2000. In the 5
short years there, she has received both regional and national recognition for her unique
approach to children’s portraiture. Her work has been featured in magazines including PPA’s
Storyteller Magazine, Kodak Pro Pass Magazine, and Studio Photography and Design. Lori has
earned several Kodak Gallery and Fuji Masterpiece awards for her images and children’s storybooks. Five of Lori’s storybooks have been accepted into PPA’s loan collection.
Wes Siebe started out in Nebraska, joining the Nebraska organization in about 1977. At the 1979
HOA convention Wes, like many other attendees, rotated around between the different state
hospitality rooms. While visiting the Iowa hospitality room, some Iowans took an interest and
decided they were going to find him a studio in Iowa. The rest, of course, is history. Wes is the
immediate past president of Iowa and probably holds the record of the most years on a single
committee. He has served on the print crew keeping the scoring records for over twenty years
and has received the Heart of America service award. He has been married to his wife Sandy for
seventeen years and has two daughters. His studio is diversified with the largest single percentage
of business being in seniors followed by children and now underclass.
Why Enter PP of Iowa
Print Competition?
There are many ways to learn our craft and all are good. With education should come improvement of the work you
do and one of the best ways to improve your skills and elevate the level of your photography is to participate in print
competition. By entering, you will expose your work to a critique process like no other. Your images will be viewed one
at a time by a panel of judges whose goal is to point out the merits and shortcomings of an image and assign a score
appropriate to their arguments. By listening to the commentary of the judges you will hear how prints can be improved
and where they excel.
It’s exhilarating when your print anonymously rotates in front of the judges on the turnstile and nerve-racking waiting
while the judges score the print. After the print is scored it may be challenged by a judge who disagrees with the given
score, and that’s when the fun begins. Each judge will talk in turn, then after a rebuttal the image will be rescored. Many
times the challenger wants to raise a score, sometimes the challenge is from a negative point of view - it’s hard to hear
your image degraded by the judges but if you listen to the criticism with an open mind and apply the insight you heard
to your future work you will begin to see improvements and the education kicks in. If you get lucky, your images will score
well and impress the judges to the point they want to reward them with ribbons and other accolades. That’s the icing
on the cake.
I’ve been fortunate to have judged images from every state in the US, Korea, Japan, China, Mexico, Canada, Ireland,
England, Germany, France, Spain, Australia and Italy. The common thread among all of the images is that any image
done well will be rewarded by the judges. From the wackiest scene to the most traditional of images all will be considered fairly and yours have an equal chance to impress if you will jump in and give print competition a try. The best place
to start is at the Iowa Winter seminar. You will be with friends who will support you all the way.
See you at the competition in February!

Family Portraits
A Treasured Legacy
Mary’s program is the perfect place to discover the essentials of successful
Family Portraiture. Family group composition and elements of color harmony
will be covered as well as tried and true marketing ideas to establish a solid
and profitable client base. Mary will discuss the importance of creating a lasting relationship with the family and share techniques for gaining a rapport
with your subjects.
Mary Mannix
Photography is an Art, capturing images to evoke an emotion from the viewer.
As Professionals we have an intuition that is beyond our technical self. The media whether film or
digital, is only a tool. How you use that tool is much more important than the tool you choose to
use. Intuition is what sets us aside from the “Uncle Joe’s” in photography. Mary will awaken your
intuition, guiding you to observe the family dynamics. Understanding these dynamics will
enhance your posing and expressions, which will increase your sales. Price is easy to compare,
what is not easy to compare is the soul behind the camera. This is the soul that will build lasting
relationships with life long clients.
Mary T. Mannix is a PPA Master of Photography, Photographic Craftsman and PPA Affiliated Juror.
After successfully operating a Chicago-land studio for over 24 years Mary sold her high volume
studio and relocated to Wisconsin. Her passion for photography beckoned and in the fall of 2002
she opened The Portrait Gallery in Port Washington, WI. Early in 2005 Mary was offered the opportunity to work with Canon as a Camera Educator. So once again she packed her gear and now
spends her time on the road blending her love of teaching with her passion for photography.
Active in National, State and Local Photographic associations for 30 years, her skills are attested
to by numerous state and national awards including twice named a Top Ten Photographer in the
state of Illinois. Mary continues to strive for excellence and will be a recipient of the PPA Gold
Photographer of the Year Award at Imaging 2007.
Survival Skills for the
Small Town Photographer
Phil Zeisemer
Survival Skills for the Small Town Photographer is a program that highlights the
importance of being a generalist rather than a specialist when your business is
located in a non-metropolitan area. Topics that will be explored are: Gorilla
marketing your studio, promotions that benefit the community, photograph categories that people will pay for, community involvement, the importance of
professionalism, and keeping track of your business.
Phil Ziesemer moved to the small Central Wisconsin community of Merrill in 1973 with the thought
of staying there as a news photographer for no more than two years. 12 years later he and his
wife, Mary, opened their portrait and wedding business full time and continue to serve their community of 10,000 with a wide variety of photographic services.
Phil has served on the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Assoc. board of directors as a regional representative, and as the CPP Liaison with PPA. In addition, he is a founding trustee and registrar for the Wisconsin Professional Photographers School. He has been a Super Monday presenter
and has given programs to regional WPPA affiliates on Certification and making merit prints.

Staying in
Business
Stacey Friedlein
Stacey Friedlein has spent nearly thirty years in the photographic industry. He
opened his first studio at age sixteen as a junior in high school. Since that time
he operated and managed studios for fifteen years. Since 1992 has been
working as a consultant working with studios through Customation Inc. and
most recently H&H Color Lab to help improve their business through marketing, improving sales skills and creating sound financial practices. Recently he
opened In The Spirit Consulting and The Business Brainery and has expanded
his consulting and teaching to photographers and small businesses outside of
the industry.
Stacey’s second book entitled Helping You Realize the Potential of Your Passion will
be published in late 2006. This book is written to motivate individuals to get a better understanding of their gifts and talents and how to use them to improve their own lives. And
improve the lives of those they work and associate with everyday. Stacey’s first book,
Marketing Into the Next Millennium is designed to help studios conceptualize, formulate and
schedule their marketing promotions. The manual contains five marketing modules. Topics
covered are Seniors, Weddings, Children, Families and a General module. Each module
gives you an outline for marketing to that target group and specific marketing ideas and
suggestions. This hands-on reference manual is a must for portrait studio owners and those
responsible for planning a studio’s promotions.
Stacey has also produced the Market Share Marketing Calendar and Workbook. It is
designed to give studios a step-by-step plan of action for establishing a schedule of promotions and an easy to use layout of their marketing plan. The workbook shows how to tie
together the studios marketing and takes them step-by-step through the process of laying
out a promotional calendar. Stacey’s method of market planning has been proven in his
studio and by many of the studios that have attended his seminars. This is common sense
marketing and is the foundation to Stacey’s seminars.
Staying in
Business
Staying in business gets harder everyday! Business programs are boring! I
don't need business programs, I've been in business for years! These are
statements we have all heard, but we believe there is much to learn
about it that will improve your bottom line. Stacey Friedlein and Aletha
Speakar have teamed up to bring you a program like you have not seen.
It will include how to write a business plan, how to price your products,
how to market and how to sell, all in a short half day program.

The Beauty
of Photography
beau·ty, n. The quality that gives pleasure
to the mind or senses and is associated with
such properties as harmony of form or color,
excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality.
This definition of beauty has been the foundation for Stephanie Clark Photography since the establishment of
this cutting-edge portrait studio in 2002. Through unique styling, intense branding and a commitment to artistic excellence, this high-end studio has been on the fast track of success and has
made its mark in the Tri-State area of Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio.
Recognized for fine art portraits of distinction, Stephanie has found her
niche in the community. Specializing in babies, children, families, and
maternity, Stephanie’s award-winning style relies on a relaxed environment
in which subtle expressions and playful attitudes clearly reveal the spirit of
her subjects. During Stephanie's presentation, she will share how she provides her clients with the "couture" experience. By offering elite products
that target her market and through creative marketing ideas Stephanie will
show you how to reach and satisfy this special client. Image is everything
and the image you project should be beautiful.
Stephanie Clark
In the summer of 2004, Stephanie Clark Photography relocated to the
Mayo Mansion in Ashland's downtown historic
district. The Mayo Mansion was built in 1917
and has been placed on the National Register
of Historic Places by the United
States Department of the Interior.
Stephanie is sponsored by Larson and WHCC.

Come see a hands on demonstration of how to make all kinds of
people look great in your images. Barb Grabill will show you just how to make your clients look
good with the basics and then how to break the rules and still make it work!
But be prepared, audience participation is required!

High School Seniors
My Way
You may have seen Jim's senior images in competition....a little
out there, huh? Do you go to the studio every morning dreading
yet another day of seniors? Remember how much fun photography used to be when you first started creating beautiful images?
Jim will show you how to adapt your lighting techniques (with a
Jim Lersch
commercial edge) to create extremely creative senior images.
Jim will also demonstrate how his theory of spending one-on-one time with the students and his
unusual techniques have provided him with a leading edge that is creating demand for his high
school portraiture. This program includes a few set photos so you can see how
easy it is and is also narrated by the actual seniors that Jim has photographed
- they'll tell you what seniors think and what YOU need to
think about. Jim will give you a list of the questions that he
asks his seniors to "get into their minds" and talk about how
color plays a key role in finding out who they really are.
Let's face it, Jim's just a commercial guy who's photographing seniors for fun. BUT when a commercial shooter is stealing business
away from established portrait studios in his area, you probably should see
how and why. He'll also do a short segment on
commercial techniques for portrait photographers.
What Your Customers
Really Want
Professional Photographers of America CEO David Trust has helped lead the world’s
largest photographic association to the most successful years in its 126 year history.
He spent years studying consumer trends and strategy while building national
cause-related marketing campaigns for large corporations. His message is a simple
one: There is money to be made by those studios that are prepared to compete.
David Trust
On the other hand, studios who engage in a “more of the same” strategy are going
to find themselves fighting for life. How serious are you about success? This will be a different look
at what your customers REALLY want.

Art in
Emotion
Craig has been involved in photography in one form or
another since 1985, but has been frustrated with his art
and craft UNTIL the advent of the digital medium! Now
he has grown wings….or more aptly a rocket pack!
Craig Keinast
Craig has been a featured speaker at many national
and regional conventions including SPI, and WPPI. Craig has also been
published several times including articles in Rangefinder and Profissional
Photographer magazines.
Craig has also been recognized in print competition.
• 2005 and 2006 Professional Photographers of America’s Diamond level photographer of the
year two years in a row.
• Best out of state print, 2005, Professional Photographers of Montana
• Highest scoring print case in Iowa 2002
• Medlar Trophy for the best of show Professional Photographers of Iowa,
Kansas City conference 2001
• Best of Show at the American Color Imaging print competition 2000.
Craig’s style can be described as Edgy, Ethereal, and sometimes Dark. The goal
Craig sets for himself with his images is to capture beauty in a
way that has an underlying sense of power and mystery.
Beauty in the human form, and beauty in nature. He pursues this end with passion, and with a great love of the visual arts.
Craig’s Program deals with the marketing techniques he’s
used to expand his business as well as his philosophy on
seniors…weddings…portraits in general.
As a part of Craig’s program, he will photograph several
individuals using “Traditional lighting” and the digital
medium. For many subjects, Craig produces what he calls
a “Fantasia Print”or “ART Print”. This is a very artistic print
with extensive computer manipulations. The perfect marriage of traditional
painting techniques and today’s techno crazed world….VERY FUN!!! The ART Prints are used as an
add on sale and can as much as double the final sales. Craig will create “ART prints” from these sessions.
The whole point of Craig’s programs is to inspire and put FUN back into the business of photography.

Master/Craftsman photographic artist Lou Szoke and

days when those absolutely stunning Hollywood style portraits were created with
simple inexpensive tungsten spotlights.
Lou Szoke

doesn’t matter if you shoot film or digital. All of Lou’s Hollywood style lighting
techniques can be adapted to both. One thing is for sure, if you are looking
for something different, if you want to make more money or if you just love
those old Hollywood style portraits – don’t miss this program!
Lou started his photography career part time in 1980. He
has always had a passion for photography and decided to
go full time with his wife, Theresa in 1983. their first studio
was less than 800 square feet, and the business has now grown to a
5200 square feet full service studio.
Lou has many achievements to his credit including being a PPA
Master/Craftsman, with numerous print awards from PPA, Illinois PPA,
Fuji Masterpiece, Photographer of the Year, Top Ten Photographer, and PPA print judge.
He has traveled throughout the US and Canada teaching professional photographers his
black-and-white Hollywood style lighting techniques.
Shootin’ Rugrats
& Senioritus
So you think children are cute and easy to photograph, huh?
Through the years Cindy & Sarah have discovered photographers that
think when a child walks through the door, it’s easy to snap a couple of
good images and BINGO, easy money. Then they actually try it. Surprise!
There is so much more to it than the children being cute. You need to
know how to deal with an unruly child, or more important the
unruly parent! “Shootin’ Rugrats” will cover everything from
the initial telephone call through closing the sale. Finding out
Cindy Romano &
Sarah Johnston
what parents think they want and help direct them to what
they really need. Cindy & Sarah will show you what works for them and... what
hasn’t worked so well. They will cover lighting , un-posed posing, marketing,
specials and volume work. They will also discuss presentation,
delivery, how to organize production and much, much more.

Creating Artistic Portraiture
The Photographer’s Edge
Our world has dramatically changed, and photographers must be able to create and sell images that
our customers aren’t trying to do themselves.
Creating a unique product line and a special niche
will separate you from the crowd.
The excitement involved in making exceptional
images never before possible (or cost-effective)
Helen Yancy
enhances both your creativity and the product lines
that can bring additional income to your studio.
Using the latest versions of Photoshop and Painter
software, Helen will discuss and demonstrate how
both have provided the tools that have enabled her to raise her average
sale by creating high-end products not available from economy studios
and mass merchandisers. Developing a style that is uniquely your own is
one of the best features in learning digital
artistry, as nobody will do the same thing or
use the same style.
Helen will demonstrate the style and latest
techniques she has developed for her highend images created with electronic brushes from her portrait photography and discuss selling and marketing as well.

WORKFLOW 101 - From Capture to Delivery
We all attend lots of seminars on posing and lighting, on marketing and selling, on studio design and props everything, it seems, except our workflow. Workflow is, arguably, one of the most important facets of running a successful business. And, there are as many methods and varieties of software out there as there are photographers trying to use them efficiently. Our Don Lohnes Master Series instructors will share their methods from start to finish file
capture, downloading, manipulation, editing, selling, ordering from a lab or printing themselves and final product
delivery.
Brian Wedemeier of Tiedt Photography in Sumner, Iowa started in 1989 working in
the darkroom and as wedding assistant. Now 17 years later, Brian is manager and
mainstream photographer. From darkroom to digital, what a crazy world it is!!
During his career in photography he has worked hard to earn the Professional
Photographer of America Certified degree 1997, and received his Masters Degree
in 2000 and Craftsman in 2004 respectively.
Brian Wedemeier
In 2000, at the National Convention, the studio jumped into digital. It was a long
rough road, but well worth it. Brian will be showing you how their studio keeps
ahead of the competition in Northeast Iowa. A creative minds eye is behind the camera not behind
the computer, trying to make an image creative. He will be demonstrating the daily workflow to
keep the studio production in “flow”. That means sessions, to proofing, orders in, orders out, $$$$ in!
That’s all folks! It looks and sounds so simple till you’re buried under a pile of(*#&!) work!
Thirty three years
ago I started photographing weddings (after I was
assigned yearbook
& photography in
Jean Poland
addition to teaching
high school English). My photographic
transitions have included part-time to fulltime; home studio to store-front; renting to
buying; making do to remodeling and building on; film to digital; without employees,
with employees and without employees;
learning from others to sharing my experiences with others.
My current studio is in Clear Lake where I
spend comparable amounts of time with
the camera and the computer. The PR
photo is not recent but it is my favorite since
some days I miss the simplicity of an
“Instamatic” and just mailing the film away
and receiving images without doing any of
the “in-between” work. Then I “get real”
and appreciate the MAGIC of Photoshop.

A Little Civics
Lesson
Every year about this time the numbers are published regarding
voter turn-out, and they are always disturbing and disappointing, aren't they? Especially in a midterm election, it seems that
no one is interested enough to participate in the process. Like
the little red hen story, everyone wants to complain about our
government, but no one wants to get involved or even take the
trouble to cast their vote. People think that their vote doesn't
make a difference. In the history of our nation, literally thousands of people have given their very lives to protect our right to
free elections, and it is really depressing that such a small segment of registered voters are making the decisions for all of us.
You may be wondering why I'm on this particular soapbox... Do
you know how your organization, "The Professional
Photographers of Iowa" is run? Do you know how members of
the Board of Directors are chosen? Do you know how the bylaws are written? Every year there is a Membership Meeting
conducted - in the past it has been held at our bi-annual state
convention or at Heart of America in the "off years". There are
seldom more than a handful of members in attendance. The
Board is there and some past presidents, but there are only a
few members who take the time to come and see what's going
on with their "government". Beginning this year, the Membership
Meeting will be held during the Winter Seminar, and I encourage
and invite you to attend. There are some issues before your
Board which merit your attention. Every member's input and
opinion is needed to build a better organization for YOU. The PPI
needs your help and your vote - and your vote matters! See you
in February!

I took my first photograph when I was only four years old. It was a picture of my father
from the knees down. I have grown a bit in my photo taking ability, but still use those
“interesting” angles in my current work. I enjoy sitting back, observing and capturing
the moments I see as memorable…I feel as if I’m on the outside looking in and photographing the moments the client is living. I pay close attention to detail, which is
imperative in order to capture images unique to a subject's personality and style.
Upon graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with bachelors in fine arts and
an emphasis in photography, I went west to Las Vegas. I was hired by one of my
Rochelle Green
greatest friends, John Michael Cooper, one of the worlds BEST wedding photographers. I am happy to say that even though my time may have been short with him to be able to sponge information
from him was a blessing.
After close to a decade in “sin city” getting a Master’s in Education and teaching art for 6 years I am back in the heartland. My husband Jeff and I have opened Green Door Photography this past June in Fort Dodge. We take great pride
in creating unique, artistic images for north central Iowa residents.

I opened my own studio in Logan, IA in 2001. Taking pictures has been a hobby of mine since
high school and in college I decided to turn my hobby into my profession. I attended Dana
College and studied fine art and graphic design for two years. I soon decided that photography was the direction that I wanted to pursue so I took additional classes at Metropolitan
Community College. After Metro I finished my Bachelor’s Degree at Bellevue University.
Following college, I moved my studio from my home to downtown Logan. Currently the
majority of my business includes: seniors, weddings, family portraits, and school
sports/dances. As Vice-President of the Logan Chamber of Commerce I am very involved
with my community, and on the home front, my husband and I are expecting our first child
in December. It’s a boy!
Hello! I am Dawn Truog, owner of Magic of the Moment Photography in Emmetsburg, Iowa. I
am the only studio in small town Iowa and I love it! I feel I am one of the lucky people in that I
don't 'normally' dread going to work everyday! But, of course, there are those days! The studio
just had it's second birthday in June, and I tend to keep the studio pretty low
volume, because it is just little ole' me. Being in the area I am in, I don't particularly specialize in
any one aspect, but kids tend to be my favorite. This probably stems from having three kids
under 7 years old.
