The successful six week Project Bike Builders program initiated by Collie PCYC provided an opportunity for children to learn how to build something from start to finish and take responsibility for their projects. Participants had their bikes safety checked and could buy additional parts if needed. Several members of the Collie Police also stopped by. The police played a big part in obtaining bikes It’s recommended that a child sees a fully qualified dentist in a dental practice setting for regular dental check-ups just like adults do. Not only do they need to have their teeth and gums checked, but they also need their growth monitored in order to assess if orthodontic treatment is required and intervene at the right time to minimise long term damage. A child should see a dentist, accompanied by a parent, by the time they are 12 months old. This will make the experience fun and instils lifelong good habits. By the age of four, the child needs to see a dentist every six months where the dentist will need to take regular x-rays in order to check for cavities between the teeth. A dentist doing a check-up without x-rays, is like a diver going under the sea blind. After School, Saturdays or School Holidays are the perfect time to book your child in to have their regular check-up. Some Private Health Funds have a yearly amount that is gap free which can be used towards your child’s treatment. This can also be put towards things like mouth-guards and most other dental treatment. Under the Child Medicare Benefit Scheme, your child may be eligible for up to $1000 worth of work that can be completed over 2 years. (Conditions apply) Your child should get used to coming in for their six monthly visits to the Dental Surgery. This will help them in the future, with any other treatment that they may need. Our Dentists enjoy having children as patients and endeavour to make the experience pleasant, as well as teach the children how to floss brush and have a good diet conducive to long term wellbeing. To make an appointment, call our friendly staff on 9731 1438. Proud: Jeff Needham with the other inductees. Got something to say? Send us a letter: josh.delpino@fairfaxmedia.com.au
