MEET THE NEW
HIGH-SECURITY LOCK
With the introduction of the GSA-approved, high-security S&G 2740,
you now have a choice when selecting high-security locks.
By eliminating the need for cables outside the container, the battery-powered
S&G 2740 represents a technical leap forward.
And because the S&G 2740 is powered by common, long-life, lithium power cells,
you simply replace two inexpensive batteries. No longer is it necessary to replace the
cover assembly or entire lock due to aging power-storage components. The result is
both enhanced long-term security and lower cost of ownership.
Now you have a choice. A better choice.
Come see the new lock at
S&G Booth #205

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
• Communication skills with your customer beginning with their
initial telephone call.
• How to stay in control of the telephone conversation from the
moment you answer the phone.
• How to set the appointment for a time that is convenient for YOU.
• How to instill confidence in your customer.
• How to avoid a “no show” (100% effective).
• Assessing your customers’ needs.
• How to sell safes you don’t have to show.
• Delivering or moving a safe on a budget.
• How and where to get equipment and tools.
• Looking like a PRO.
• Generating referrals.
You can be the greatest technician on planet earth, but if you can’t
convey that to your customers, you will never reap the rewards
you deserve. Very few purchases, whether they are a product or
a service, are made solely on the merits of the product. The fact
is that most purchases are made based on emotion. How a customer feels about the person they’re dealing with is often the deciding factor. Review the list above one more time. Everything on
that list has to do with YOU, not a product. Identical product can
be purchased anywhere. Isn’t it time you learn how to make the
customer want to deal with you, and only you?
305: Drill Bit Sharpening
Instructor: Roy Waters
Sharpening carbide, cobalt and HSS drill bits. Learn when to
use which type of drill bit. Learn how to properly sharpen drill
bits in accordance to their use. The different types of metals and
materials will be discussed and the proper motor speeds to use
for them, as well as the proper type drill bit. Learn when to use
a two-or four-fluted end mill and their purpose. Discussion on
right- and left-twist drill bits.
306: STPRP Preparation Class (Day 2 of 2)
See description for 206.
307: Successful Safe Sales and Service
Instructor William “Bill” Boughman, CPS
This class is designed for the safe professional who wants to
grow their safe business. Whether you are a one-man show or a
larger company with multiple employees, this class is for you. All
you need is the desire to double or even triple your bottom line.
You don’t need a lot of stock; you don’t need a lot of money;
you don’t need a lot of expensive equipment to get started; and
you don’t even need a physical shop location to get started.
What you do need are the skills and proven techniques to make
the customer want YOU and ONLY you to meet ALL their safe
needs from the initial purchase to continued service and moving
of their safe(s). Topics for discussion will include:
• How and where do you get your customers?
308: Government Update
Instructor: Vaughan Armstrong
This is an informal presentation of recent changes in government
regulations, standards and specifications, information on approved products, and related topics. The speaker is a physical security specialist with the Department of Defense Lock Program.

See description for 301.
403: Manipulation of S&G 8500 and S&G 2937
Instructor: Chuck Batcke, CPS, CML
Prerequisite: A thorough knowledge of safe locks and wheel action, as there will be no instruction on how a combination lock
works. This course, once reserved for only a select few, is now
available to the commercial locksmith community. Exploiting
weaknesses in these locks makes manipulation of these locks
possible. In-depth discussion on the operation of these locks
and why manipulation is possible. Once the technique is learned,
it is possible to manipulate these locks open in less than two
hours. Students are encouraged to bring an audio amplifier.
CLASS LIMIT 12.

See description for 304.
405: Welding Repairs (Day 1 of 2)

different types of welding and when to use which type.
406: Basic Photography for the Security
Professional
Instructor: Tony Fiorini, CRL
This one-day class is designed with the security tech in mind.
How a camera works, why it does what it does, and how to
make it do what you want it to do are the principles of this class.
Photos required for tech support, archives, insurance claims,
forensics, job estimation, advertisement, and website enhancement are just a few of the reasons for the necessity of understanding how your camera works and how to make it work for
you. Topics covered are elementary theory, low light shooting,
macro shooting, advanced techniques for adverse shooting conditions, and student hands-on shooting utilizing the learned principles. Students of this class will achieve the ability to overcome
the camera taking bad pictures. Students are required to bring

This is an overview of GSA-approved containers, vault doors,
and their locks: who made/makes them, what kinds there are,
how to identify them, where they are required, and where the requirements are. A visual presentation of dozens of photos will be
interspersed with relevant technical and historical information.
We’ll look at the Federal Specifications to which the products
are built, and see how those specs can help us identify the products. We’ll cover the Federal Standard that describes methods
of opening and repairing them, including authorized modifications. We’ll learn what recertification is, who can do it, and when
it is and is not necessary. Each student will receive binders of information on products made by every (past and present) manufacturer of GSA-approved security equipment, as well as specifications and other related documents.
FRIday, May 4, 2012
501: Basic Photo Processing for the Security
Professional
Instructor: Tony Fiorini, CRL
This one-day class is designed with the security tech in mind.
Basic photo processing skills such as uploading to a computer, archiving and backing up are covered. Introduction to basic
photo enhancement is also covered using the Adobe Photoshop
Elements program. Students will learn how to resize photos for
print and for web use, straighten horizons, lighten dark areas,
darken overexposed areas, enhance colors, create text and arrows on photos, crop photos to eliminate unwanted objects, and
various other useful techniques to produce quality photographs.
If applicable, we will also learn how to upload photos to web
forums. Students are required to bring: A laptop with Adobe
Photoshop Elements preinstalled, a small extension cord, their
digital camera and a card reader for their memory card. A wireless mouse is optional, but a good idea.
505: Welding Repairs (Day 2 of 2)
