Yes, there have been many changes this year in our group: we have gone to an electronic means of communication, we have changed our meeting frequency and our meeting location. Although there will always be different opinions regarding any type of change let us assure you that these changes were made with a lot of prayer and thought. Even though there has been change, the vision of WCCHE remains the same and that is to “support, encourage, and equip families in the performance of their God-given responsibilities to train and educate their children in the instruction of the Lord” (Det. 4:6, Ephesians 6:4, Malachi 2 and Psalm 78). As a board we really need your prayers as we seek to encourage you in living out that vision. We hope that you all have plenty to be thankful for, especially as we approach Thanksgiving, Craig and Lourdes Spencer Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! If you are unable to attend a function with your child, we request that you ask another family to “adopt” them for the event. We count on our members to always respect the preciousness of other people, since we are not only representatives of other homeschoolers, but of our Lord Jesus Christ as well. Thank you for requiring your children to be respectful of others and their property as you attend various field trips and functions. Even though W.C.C.H.E. does its best to present reputable resources in this newsletter, we recommend that each family use its own discretion when obtaining services. W.C.C.H.E. does not endorse any political candidate and encourages every family to research all candidates and then to vote according to their convictions. Please support these State of Missouri issued pro-life license plates. To find out how, please visit Choose Life of Missouri, Inc. Their web site is http://chooselifemissouri.org. As of today they’re about 40 commitments away from being able to have the plates manufactured for distribution. Let us be bold in our faith and proudly proclaim God’s truth every day by supporting this worthy Christian organization. "It is wonderful that Missouri now has the Choose Life license plate! I am sure that all pro-life and pro-adoption Missourians will enjoy proclaiming the Choose Life message on their car! I know I will!" -Phyllis Schlafly, Founder & President, Eagle Forum "The new "Choose Life" license plate is a statement of beauty beautifully made because it reflects God's heart and manner of speaking - to be salt without assaulting. May many Missourians add this plate to their seasoning rack as a means by which God may flavor our culture to affirm the sanctity of human life!" -Rev. Douglas W. Merkey, President, Churches for Life "A CBS Poll, Oct. 16, 2007, found that 54% of Americans take a Pro-Life position on abortion. Now with the "Choose Life" license plates, the will of the people can be expressed, complying with what is engraved on Missouri's Capitol dome, "the will of the people is the supreme law." -William J. The goal of these meetings will be to provide the nuts and bolts home educators need to feel confident to continue home educating their students through high school. Some of the topics will be of interest to parents of junior high age students who are planning ahead and all topics will be of interest to parents of high school students who are preparing for college. People who place themselves on the self-ban list suffer from gambling related problems and need a NO vote on A * Prop A will lead to an increase in suicides. A new and key study examining individuals on Missouri’s self –ban list reveals that their motivation to do so was to prevent themselves from committing suicide. With an unenforceable self-ban list, over 12,000 people can simple walk into a casino with virtually no risk of being stopped, which leads to terribly tragic consequences. * Prop A will lead to more drug dealers and organized crime members using Missouri casinos to launder their dirty money. The $500 Loss Limit has prevented those criminal elements from successfully laundering their money in our state, so why would we want to expose Missouri families to such dangers? * Prop A removes mandatory identification measures and prevents future identification technologies. Without mandatory identification measures, Missouri will see an increase in underage gambling. In addition to this enormous effort, lending records show that few materials were checked out and often those materials were never returned. To better serve homeschool families, the contents of the carts have been distributed among three organizations: The Pillar Foundation, Family Vision library in St. Charles, and SHARE. The Pillar Foundation welcomes homeschoolers to use its library Monday through Thursday from 9am till 4pm. Please check with the other locations for times. It is the hope of the board that having a permanent location and expanded hours of availability will increase our members' usage of materials. All board decisions are prayerfully made with the best interest of the group in mind. We invite our members to explore the expansive libraries at each of the above locations.
